TRAKAI District | Travel Guide Lithuania
Просмотров 8572 месяца назад
Trakai district is one of the most visited and most picturesque places in Lithuania. It is also one of my favourite go-to places when I need some fresh air and beautiful views in the country and just as many others I've visited the place countless times in my life. Trakai boasts a wonderful red brick castle built on an island in the lake, great local cuisine and colourful wooden houses. The who...

Tauragė is one of the lesser known regions in Lithuania, but it has its charm. The first time I came to this city completely surprised me with its castle of which I never heard of before. Lithuania still has its hidden gems! Tauragė was a great visit also for all the fun at Tauras adventure park and the beautiful Pagramantis Regional park. Kernavė and Širvintos | Lithuania travel guide

Širvintos district is well known for me as I've been in this area quite a lot, it's so close from Vilnius that it is easy to pass by there often. One of my favourite places is Kernavė hillforts, a UNESCO historical site, where the live view is much better than any video I can make. It's a great place to visit during events too. Travelling to Šilutė and Nemunas Delta | Lithuania travel guide

Šilutė district was quite a discovery for me - the region is full of interesting places, I wish I had more time to enjoy it. Especially Nemunas Delta Regional Park, Ventės Ragas are such unique places in Lithuania. In my opinion Šilutė is a great option for travel when you want to be near water and do some birdwatching. Another alternative which I did too, is not only explore the district but a...

Šilalė district was barely known to me before this visit, even though it is quite big. I've known from before that it has great rivers for kayaking, such as Jūra and Akmena, but not much more. This time I was impressed by Medvėgalis hill, the tallest one in Samogitia, the whole surrounding area was just so picturesque, I'll have to come back for a bike ride there 🚴🏼♀️ You can see full video fr...

Šiauliai district is the region around Šiauliai city and it is home to the famous Hill of Crosses - a truly unique place, not just in Lithuania but in the whole world. It was a great trip to see this and all that nature the district had to show - I particularly liked Kurtuvėnai Regional Park. Maybe because it was my first bigger trip to nature this spring 🙂 🎬 Other mentioned videos: Šiauliai ci...

Do you say Samogitija or Zemaitija in Lithuanian?
It’s Žemaitija in Lithuanian. Samogitia is English/Latin, not many locations in Lithuania have English equivalents :)
Why should we use a Latin derivant instead of the original one from which it derived?
@ I'm just wondering if it could somehow connect to the Greek island Samothrace.
Well, that can be applied to many things and many languages around the world, same as why the English say Lithuania instead of Lietuva 🙂 why Germany not Deutchland, Egypt not Misr, Greece not Hellas and so on… I guess to say ‘Žemaitija’ is not that easy for those who don’t know Lithuanian
@ Yes, I think it's an unusual sound for foreigners.
So beautifull Lithuania..saludos desde México!!!🎉
💯👌🙏
Lithuania 👍 🚶 🛴 🚴 🏍 🚗 🚌 🚂 ⛵ ✈
Super! Džiaugiuosi jus radusi...🤗
A wonderful and very informative video! So many beautiful and interesting places to visit! I have been to Vinius and also Kaunas several times. Was planning a tour round the country this year so you've given me some great ideas and a lot to think about!
Thanks! I’m glad it’s useful. Safe travels! 🙂
love Lithuania
A important channel about Lithuania. ❤😊
Thank you! 😊
Great video, as always. How could you narrow the list down to only 15? 😅
Well that was quite a difficult job 🙂 there are so many interesting places around. But 10 would be impossible for me to make 😁
@Atlasito 😄 Your videos are the best cure for my "Heimweh". Ačiū!
what was the name of the random restaurant of the first lunch with calamari, salads and fried potatoes.
It was Opou Vastaxi, near Fodele village
Wow, thank you for the video, I'm hoping to visit this year.
Labas
One day I will visit. And write a poem of the town. Csaba from Hungary.
Is it possible to put your foot in Belarus at the castle or is it guarded?
There is a fence all along the border and the whole region is very guarded these days

Not really sure which period of Baltic Paganism you are talking about, but... Laumė wasn't a god/godess. Laumės were mythical creatures, initially portrayed as humanoid goats, or women with the head of a goad and long breasts. They were said to be very scary, as they were considered malicious. At which point did people transform these scary and ugly mythical beasts into a single godess, I am unsure... Also, was Velnias REALLY called "Velinas" at some point? You should probably mention both his names then ("Velinas" and "Velnias").
Thank you madam
Transformation in to contemporary capital? Do you even understand what you are trying to say?
I just finished watching this episode this morning. How seasonally appropriate!🥰Thank you for this tour. I was also using my Google Earth app to keep directions in check and to occasionally get a larger bird’s eye view of the city. The decorations and restorations of many of the buildings are exceptional. When I went to the Google street view, many places looked deserted and run down but now are flourishing. I think the Google Earth people have to remap and update. By watching your videos, I think I’m getting a better understanding how truly difficult it must have been for my grandparents (because of the circumstances of the time) to make the decision to immigrate to Canada almost a century ago. Great video!😎👍🏻
Vilnius 👍
Thank you Justina for taking us along on your walk through old town Vilnius and the Christmas market. I really enjoyed it. It’s almost like being there. Hey was that Christmas tree leaning a bit or did you tilt your camera? Take care and we’ll see you in your next video.
You’re right! Some people noticed that the tree is crooked a bit, so the builders explained that as the tree is completely natural its top is a bit leaning to another side (it grew like this)
@ It’s a beautiful tree though and the white framing increases the aesthetics for me. If you make another walking video you might consider adding subtitles that provide a little background information of what you’re recording. Happy holidays to you and your family.
I couldn't wait and had to watch your video before seeing everything myself next week. Great video, Justina, as always.
Thank you! 😊
I think Lithuania in winter would be a wonderful place to visit or live. I would need an occasional trip to a sunny 😎 environment, however. Let me wish you and your family linksmu Kalėdų and laimingų naujųj metu. Look forward to your posts in 2025.
Puikus patarimas! Būtinai išbandysiu šį metodą!
It looks so beautiful! I really want to visit Lithuania soon! Big hug from The Netherlands ❤!
Atmosfera tiesiog neįtikėtina, jaučiasi miesto dvasia
Very funny historical perspecive for a Pole: to mention "Nazi" conectration camp with no word on Lithuanian collaboration with Germans in SS and welcoming "Nazis" with open arms, then sweet lies about "Polish occupation" of LT without mentioning 40% of polulation being Polish back then and being part of commonwealth for like 200 yrs. BRAVO!!! Intended to visit ... but changed my mind after watching this video. Have enough nazi bullshit home sold by blue-eyed girls like you.
❤❤❤❤❤🇲🇽🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hallo 🙋♂️ I am a german pagan from the Baltic Sea coast and was fooled by the German 😊 History books, which are of course Christian and after the Second World War and the loss of my homeland in East Prussia, everything is of course presented a little differently than it really was. Now, at 61, I have only just discovered the secret of the Amber Road and that we used to be a connected empire that even the North Vikings were afraid of. We inspired their shipbuilding and not the other way around. It becomes clear what it has been about for 10,000 years and why Christianity is still used as a devastating weapon against us today, we should never find to each other again and keep on fighting so we will never ever find out the real Truth about us… 😢😎🐺
Wonderful
Beautiful views.
you said everything!!!
Beautiful video, makes me want to return to Lithuania asap
You really made winter in Lithuania look like a great time to visit. Great job.
Insightful information and excellent cinematography and grading....Splendid Visual Treat !! Thank you
I like autumn and winter the most. No mosquitoes. 😄 I am undecided which Christmas tree is nicer this year. What is your opinion, Kaunas or Vilnius? 😉 I like to take one of the Christmas style decorated trains in the evening. Especially after a hot wine.
I didn’t go to Kaunas yet to see the tree live, but I think that having full natural trees in both cities donated by residents is amazing! The idea to take the train is awesome! I recently saw the pictures of this season’s trains, they look wonderful 😊
@Atlasito I took one of those trains last winter. It was very nice. I recommend it.
I was there this summer. And I am coming back for sure
❤❤❤
Excellent list & summary, beautiful photography.
Thank you! 😊
I even bought a flat there - as a foreigner that's where I spend my summers
