Shara Runs
Великобритания
Добавлен 25 янв 2013
I'm Shara, an amateur runner based in the UK. I love to document my running antics such as parkruns, races and trips in the UK and abroad, run training vlogs and other aspects of my running journey, which I capture on video.
I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Sports & Exercise Nutrition and am currently getting back into running again slowly after a couple of years of injury and illness.
My partner, Brian, often features in these videos (he's a super speedy runner), along with his cute dog, Monty.
Brian is also an England Athletics Running Coach and qualified Personal Trainer, who offers both online (worldwide), and in-person run coaching (based in Peterborough, UK). He can also provide bespoke, targeted training plans for beginners and experienced runners alike.
I've been running since 2012 and after a difficult 2 or 3 years with injury and illness etc., I'm trying to get back into running.
I love to hear viewers' comments and suggestions - please feel free to drop me a line.

An Injured Runner's Week of Cross Training, Strength and Conditioning
You always dress cool for the long run, very stylish. Good luck in Benidorm today. Quite a few of our club members are going, I was hoping to but life etc. Anyways, hope you have a blast
Thank you. That was one tough race. Shame you couldn't come, would have been good to meet you. Hope you're OK.
I’m doing a ‘track to track’ run-few laps in one city, then run to the next and finish with laps on that track. P.S. You’re the kind of people I look up to!
Sounds great. Keep up the good work! 🙂 and thanks.
Best of luck to you!
Thanks! 🙏🏻
Good luck for your race shara you’ll do great 👍🏻 happy running
@@Ruffnreddyrunner thanks very much, Mark 👍🏻
You'll smash Benidorm. The warm weather will help and if are running around an hour in training you should easily knock a few minutes off that on raceday. I predict 56:47 😊
@@abitrich68 oooh, thanks. That would be great. Let's gooooo!
Best of luck for your Benidorm 10k!
@@LinkedBooks thank you! Stay tuned 😜
Nice to see it hasn’t changed much in the years since before Covid!
@@johnking7649 it's a nice course, just not what I'm used to
I did see the squirrel 🐿️ ☺️ well done on the 10k hope all goes well for the race,if want a sub 27 min parkrun shara Norwich or lynn is a flat fast course 😊
@@Ruffnreddyrunner Thanks for letting me know about the 🐿️ .I'm thinking I'll get to Lynn before Christmas, as that's my PB course. Well done on your Hunstanton course PB too!
Great run Shara. Looks like you're easy gonna sub 1 hour going by this run . Sorry for Brian that NY didn't go to plan, it did something similar to me which just makes me want to go back and redeem myself. Hope he's mending up quickly and back to running like a rocket. Looking forward to seeing how you get on at the 10k
Thank you. Brian wants to go back and give NY another crack too. I think age is catching up with us both 😂
Lovely run!
@@LinkedBooks it definitely was, thank you 👍🏻
i have done 2 park runs that can get very muddy both in Greater Manchester been Stamford park and Clarence park and my hillest one is Watergrove
@@MichaelTinker-dt1rp I've not done either of those. I did Sale Water, which was lovely but not hilly or muddy - just lots of stones.
Well done Shara, nice running. I did 70 mins 10 secs for 8 miles yesterday, really surprised myself. Really hope to break 26 mins for Parkrun before the year is out. might have to be a 2026 challenge methinks. Hope 10k prep is going great 🙂
@@DeeJay_78 thank you. That's amazing! 👏🏻 I'm hoping to get 26:30 at parkrun by the end of the year (27:19 is fastest this year so far) 🤞🏻 so watch this space!
@@SharaRuns I ran that very time at Parkrun on Saturday! Was very tough, last km was agony. You can do it, keep working hard. I look forward to more content 🙂
Stunning weather for it. Shame you're not going to NY with Brian. Solid run again, well done 👏
@@TheRunningWhale thank you. Yes, such a beautiful day! 🔆😎. Monty and I will have fun whilst Brian's away, I'm sure 🐶.
Good luck with the dog training shara
I may need it 🤣🐶. Thanks
Aww shame you didnt get to race, but coastal runs can be brutal with wind anyways, I imagine it would have been awful for you. Bradford cancelled a 10k one year because of forecasted bad weather. Turned out to be one of the nicest days, now that was frustrating. Sounds like this one was for the best :)
Thank you. Yes, looking forward to doing 10Ks now 😊
South run cancelled 😢did you refund or defer?
I won't be doing GSR next year, it's a long way to go and we may be in Chicago any way.
Oh Shara that looked awful! I've no idea how you didn't end up in the mud face first! Great video 😊
@@TheRunningWhale I don't know either! I expected to. It was difficult but strangely fun 😆
I see u still use coros hrm. So I understand it is worth buying
Yes, a lot of the top runners are using it these days
Thx for this video! I have 7pro and want to buy this arm hrm
@@MrFornaioTri glad it's useful. they work perfectly well together 👍🏻. Just download the Coros app and connect it up.
Awwwww man I had this one on my list to do looks fun in the rain
It's really sad it's finishing after only 59 events but they're looking at starting another one nearby, I believe, if they get the go-ahead, so all may not be lost.
loved that, how completely pleasant was Amy lol
She was adorable. So sweet and kept me going 😊
Get on a bike and do tabata classes , I’ve found it’s really improved my cardio & stamina in running
@@Tony79Mud I've been doing a bit of spinning, which is interval work but yes, I need to do more, especially as I can't run at the moment. Good point
I think you'll smash the race in 1:35 👍
Thank you. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻
Definitely wise to cut the run short so close to the race. Last thing you want is to have to pull out for 2 extra miles today. The run might have been hard but if youve just battled a bug, you did great to gst out. Todays hard is tomorrows easy ✊️
@@TheRunningWhale thank you. Hope you're back running soon 🏃🏻

Thanks so much. I have really missed being able to run any kind of distance. It feels like things are coming together finally. Have a great week!
thaks for the clip , i enjoy watching runners who can multi task filming and running , i wish i cld lol , i have a garmin forerunner 30 ( old school ) it cant do much , so it always amuses me when i watch people and the watch tells what you need to do lol , i just get my shorts and trainers on and just do a run lol , i did my usual parkrun ( eaton park ) on saturday , my first run since run norwich as ive been in the states , have messed up my calf , so was sure i was going to walk yesterday , but once i start i cant walk lol , managed 28.00 , which i will take , and nearly neg splits , im hoping to start next week fresh , , try to get back on my regulare diet after last week , i need to lose weight , and i want to try to get some runs in , if my calf will behave , have a good week , keep posting
@@michaelager2540 thanks for your support. I can only film when doing an easy run, it wouldn't be possible when doing sprints! 😁. I hope your calf is OK? Garmin can sometimes be annoying with its suggestions so perhaps simple may be better at times 🙂. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
thanks for sharing , i did my 6th run norwich , and wanted sub 60 , but cld only manage 60.12 , have donbe 368 parkruns ( 367 at eaton paek )
Ah, your time was similar to mine. That was my 6th Run Norwich too. I found it tough. That's an amazing amount of parkruns, I'm only on number 43 but working on my Alphabeteer Challenge. In sure next year you'll smash that sub-60 at Norwich 👊🏻

What polite fellow😂
Don't know how you have the energy to speak. You're obviously not working hard enough 😉
@@SharaRuns all working hard but maybe not hard enough 😂
It was good to meet you before the race. It was a bugger though wasnt it with the heat. Rose lane is always a breaker and then the very long slow grind up tombland onto castle mall. There was 8500 runners this year which i think made it the biggest so far. My garmin registered it as 6.32miles but i think a lot of that was the weaving in the crowds. Anyway. Well done on getting around on what felt like the hardest Run Norwich (well it felt like the hardest of the last 3 years)
Thank you. Nice to meet you too! It was certainly a tough day at the office. Hope you got on OK 😊
@@SharaRuns i survived lol. was running with a knee injury (physio to find out what on wednesday). So i had a plan to try and beat my 54:03 pb, or atleast not fall behind my 2022 58:13 time. Finished in 57:13 so i wasn't over joyed but also not disappointed if that makes sense. I'm just hoping to be healed enough to run the Larkin Gowen half marathon in Norwich in november.
Well done Shara, you gave it a great go and the series has been fab, well done on documenting your journey to it. The pace pro can be annoying but there are a few features that you can use in it to make it less annoying. You can account for elevation of your add the actual race in there. You can also do negative splits too. The great south run is epic, but likely windy in Portsmouth. I’m doing a different 10k that day so unfortunately can’t do that one this year. Didn’t realise you are part of Fordys run club - thinking about joining too. Would you recommend?
Thank you. I definitely recommend joining the Fordy Runs group for the social aspect, if nothing else. They're an amazing bunch of supportive runners and there's now 60 running groups across the country, as well as a global virtual group. Thanks for the tips on Pace Pro, I did add the course details but I think the route has changed since I last did it in 2019 and they added more hills. Lol 😂. Perhaps we'll eventually catch up with each other at London Winter Run 2025? Hope all's going well for you. Take care.
Thank you for the film.. I hope the 10k went well.. Chris 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Well done on your race Shara 🎉 nice to see you got some sunny weather. Most race videos I’ve seen recently have been pretty soggy 🌧️
@@racheld1844thank you. yes, we were so lucky, it didn't rain at all. If anything, it was a pretty warm run.
Congratulations on getting it done Shara. Don't beat yourself up, navigating injury and training is very difficult but you still managed a good time. Did you put the course into pace pro before the race? It should adjust for hills rather than give equal pace. Anyways, a most enjoyable series, looking forward to see what's next. Ps. Congrats also to Brian. If I ever got close to that time it would be a very good day lol
@@TheRunningWhale thank you for your support. Yes, I added the course to Pace Pro but it wanted me to run too fast so I struggled to keep up with it. Perhaps I'm doing something wrong? Oh well. I'm not going to worry about it. It was a tough day but I got it done 👍🏻. Yes, Brian was 2nd in his age category so I think that was amazing.
Well done, you did really well, such a great time even if you didn't get a PB for the course. I haven't trained enough (2 months), but still managed to get 1 hour 10 minutes on the chip time, so I'm happy (a PB for me for a 10k). Going to run the Henham 10k in November, so a couple of months to try and improve a bit, going to try some low heart rate training, because I seemed to be maxed out most of the 10k today! Plus it was HOT!!! And yes, HILLS! And yes, also definitely over 10k... I have a Samsung Classic 4, and it said 6.3 miles!
@@monkeytommo it was certainly a tough day at the office today! Congratulations on your time 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 and best of luck for Henham 🤞🏻

@@abitrich68 thank you. Let's wait and see what happens on Sunday. Yes, Garmin is forever the optimist 😆

Massive good luck with the race next week, can't wait to see how you get on. A good warmup before the race you'll come good 👍
Thanks so much! Fingers crossed for me 🤞🏻🙏🏻
Still a solid finish time for a parkrun well done. Training once a week I'd definately want to get as much bang for my buck. The 10k undulating run would probably be a good choice for strength and endurance making it a fartlek type of affair. Looking forward to seeing how you get on 💪 🏃♂️

Nicely done Shara. I have the same issue in the town I live in where it’s mostly flat and the only real hill is up a road near a brick works so huge Lorry’s bomb up and down it very fast. Hi Shara, I am using my husbands account here, but just wanted to ask what type of strength training you have been doing. I have also been getting lots of injuries with the tendons, mostly hamstring. I was thinking of trying to add some strength to my training to see if it helps.
@@TheDrunkenAlcoholic I've been doing full body workouts with dumbbells and resistance bands. I usually do workouts on the Peloton app. Maybe your hamstrings need strengthening, in which case you could try glute bridges but keep your feet further away from your body to work hamstrings more. Thank you for your comment. Definitely a parkrun I'd like to do again. Do you live nearby? Fingers crossed the ankle holds out for my 10K race in a few weeks.
Thank you. It's a really cool thing with the Insta360 you can do. In the Insta360 app, start to play your video, pause, then hit the Stats option and choose Garmin Connect (assuming you have a Garmin watch you've recorded the run on). It automatically adds the stats. You can change how the stats look and choose at what point in the video they start. So cool 😎
@@SharaRuns that is so cool, I had no idea.. brilliant thanks so much Shara. Hope you are keeping well
