Tried this but cant get the top part of icemaker out! I got the freon kine oulled down and Release the top Clip, but it just wont come out 😞

My fridge is 7 months old and already having this issue. The service guy says he is going to have to replace the assembly. This is too common a problem and needs to be addressed by samsung. If they don't then i can easily say will never buy a samsung appliance ever again.

do you have a theory why the tape works and not the silicone? could the difference be that you taped more areas and also cleaned the flap?

Hey there. Thank you for sharing this video for all of us. Question for you: My wife mentioned today that our Samsung fridge was making a weird noise. Upon further inspection it was in the area of the ice maker. I took the cube tray out and noticed two large cracks in it. My question is: I heard you say in the video that "if the cube box was cracked to replace it", I am wondering what would cause it to crack? Was the cause of the crack the warm air coming in around the ice making apparatus itself which you fixed with the HVAC tape? Let me know please. Thanks

I had the same issue, model number rf29a9671sr/aa. What I did to fix mine was add a small, stronger ring magnet on top of the pitcher lid. It seemed like the magnet in the lid had weakened and was no longer working with the resistor in the door

We do not have ours hooked up to a water line. 1) how hard is it to hook up to a water line? 2) If we keep it waterless, I'm guessing this repair will help overall function of the frig since the freon line is in there. 3) if we cannot hook up a water line, can we make ice and put it in there to dispense after the repair?

Great training. I just finished this repair. It is fairly simple as long as you have a phillips screwdriver, hair dryer, and tin foil tape. I will report back if it fixes my icing problem. Thank you!

I’ve had my fridge for 2 years. Same config as the video. Pitcher worked fine for 2 years and now it stopped working. Nothing is wet. No water comes out of the drain plug. I took mine apart and everything looked fine. Re-installed and it started working for 2 days. Now it stopped again. No moisture. No leak. Driving me crazy. Might just disconnect moisture sensor and see what happens.

This was helpful, but I couldn't figure out how to unplug the power connector on the back of the ice maker. My connector is a different color (white); I couldn't see any retaining clips that had to be compressed to pull it out.

Nice job on the video. Thank you so much! I completed the repair with the insulation tape today. And yes, the ice bucket is cracked. I temporarily taped it from the bottom with the same insulat tape and am purchasing a new one.... One minor thing that confused me was the term "insulation tape". As an engineer, I was thinking that its function is to insulate. However, I found that "insulation tape" is actually a tape that is used to connect insulation panels together. In this job, the function of the tape is to block air from getting in. The tape is very thin - out of necessity because everything has to go back together with the tape in place. So yes, the very thin tape that is used to connect insulation panels together is the right stuff! I know that now that I've done the job because I can see how it works. I look forward to ice again. Thank you again sooo much for the video. I would not have been able to do this job without it! Bob

This is great. There is an alternative cause for an ice maker freezing over. I had the problem for more than a year and it was driving me crazy. I cleaned the fill tube, and it didn't make a difference. I noticed that the water was coming out of the tube really fast, so I tried to use a piece of plastic to keep the water from spilling over the funnel that takes it to the tray, but that didn't work either. I was about to spend more than $300 on a new ice maker that I was going to install myself when I wondered whether the water filters I had bought online might have something to do with the problem. My fridge is a Kenmore Pro and the Kenmore water filters are more expensive than generics you can buy online. I had tried to save some money buy going with the generics. This time, I bought a Kenmore filter and installed it. Doing that fixed the problem immediately. It seems that the flow of the water through the filter is really important. If it's too fast, the water can gush out of the fill tube too quickly and leak behind the ice maker. Hope this helps someone!
