Reading Booktube Darlings ~ will they live up to the hype?
i'm trying to read more from my shelves too!
love this gentle intentions vibes
The Wardrobe Department sounds like Women’s Prize catnip … surely that’s in the running?!! Thank you for the heads up. A book by Bob!!! Sign me up!! You found loads of interesting books Keri ❤️👏❤️
Love the concept of this but also adore how joyous you are with it 😆 Here's for leaving the dumpster fire in 2024!
Thank you for such a helpful video. A few of these books were already on my radar, but there are so many more now that I’m interested in. It sounds like 2025 will be a year of great book releases.
👋
You are lush for watching this. Thanks so much for stopping by!
I really enjoyed your selections here, lots of books I hadn't heard of before. I'm a recent subscriber after Sarah from Your True Shelf shouted you out. I'm enjoying your channel, looking forward to the reading year ahead. Louise, in Australia
Oh this is so lovely Louise. Thanks for commenting and saying hi! ♥️
What a wonderful selection of books! Some I’ve heard of and some I had no idea about - but all very interesting! Thank you so much for sharing 📚✨❤️
Ah that’s the best combo! Glad there were some newbies in there. Thank you for watching! 🥰
I love the best books of the year videos and seeing my favourites! I am surprised the long way to a small and angry planet didn't make it to the favourites and became an honourable mention. From your honourable mentions I do want to read convenience store woman as well. I really enjoyed the harpy too and the writing in it was great. I really want to read I who have never known men because it seems like everyone who reads it absolutely loves it. I hope you find many more favourites in 2025!
Oh I would love to see what you think of I who have never known men. Although it’s popular I still love hearing people talk about it as there’s so much left open for interpretation. I’m a bit surprised about the Becky chambers too… I did love it! Need to get to the next book in that series this year.
Stacking Unbroken Beauty!
Ah great!! I hope you enjoy it!!
Oh I actually LOVED The Count of Monte Cristo! I know it's a chunky one but I felt like it flew by because it was such a rollicksome adventure, but I recognise that was maybe helped by the fact I did it on ebook so didnt have to hold the thing, plus I read it while on holiday in Paris so it felt very apt 😂
I’m confident I’d like it, I’m just not sure I’m ready for the commitment!! 😂 It will happen….one day 👀
Looooove this, yes to healing and resting in the dark cold winter! Your TBR challenge sounds like a really fun way to prioritise those older books. I didnt watch YT over the festive period so I have a few of yours in my watch later to visit which will be a lovely treat as they're always soothing and reflective, perfect for winter watching 😊
You’re so kind Sophie! 🥰 Hope you’ve had a gentle start to the year. ♥️
Love this Keri! I'm also not one for new year new me... We forget that's it's middle of winter still. We're not supposed to be raring to go 😅
That’s why you are my people Kasia! Hope your start to 2025 has been gentle. ♥️
I completely agree on quiet writing being beautiful. I too have always found it weird that people would have a new beginning in winter. Our new year (persian) is with the spring equinox which feels more like a beginning. But even then, i think you said it best : "gentle intention setting" works much better for me than ambitious goal setting.
It certainly feels counter intuitive to be trying to make drastic changes this time of year. I love the idea of aligning with the spring equinox! Let’s aim for that to be our ‘fresh start’ and in the meantime, gentle intentions will have to do! Thank you so much for watching. ♥️
Your vlogs are my favourite videos too, so I look forward to those, alongside all your reading and adventures over the coming year. Here’s to a wonderful 2025!
Thank you Joy! I’m working on a vlog at the moment so will hopefully have that to share soon. Looking forward to sharing our reading again this year. ♥️
It's so easy to be overwhelmed by tbr.s (books) & tbv.s (BookTube), isn't it? It's a pickle. I am very keen to follow your Welsh reading plans, this sounds great, lots of new reading paths. Happy reading in '25.
Same to you Phillip. Hope 2025 is kind to you and you have some cracking reading!
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing: Thanks, Keri.
This was such a clever video! Thank you for sharing! ❤️✨📚
Thanks so much! It was thrown together last minute but really fun all the same. I’m already chuckling to myself at potential answers for next year!
Yesss! Gentle intentions for the win. I hear you about mirroring nature with our energy. 60-70 hours?!! What did you even do?!! Do you live in Wales? I love vlogs! ❤🎉
Ha yes. It was wild times! I used to be a housemistress at a boarding school. Such a fun job but v hard work. And yes I’m in south wales 🏴
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing Wow wow wow! That sounds like a lot :o
Loving your gentle videos. I guess you are welsh, as am I,(well half), from Carmarthen area, now from Ontario, Canada. I think you are doing a great job and looking forward to this year’s episodes.
That’s so cool! My cousin has moved to Canada and my partners Uncle lives there too. Wondering about the Welsh/Canadian expat links! Thank you for your kindness and for watching ♥️
I am also going to be trying to tackle my tbr this year! I really need to get to dear senthuran as well D: As I love everything I have read fiction wise from akwaeke emezi. I did really enjoy the count of monte cristo!! But yes, it's a big commitment. Maybe one to audiobook? It was fun to hear about your tbr! I hope you have a fun time getting your read on.
I think you’re right about monte cristo needing to be an audiobook, in part at least! I am looking forward to dear senthurian too. Here’s hoping we get on top of those TBRs this year!
A car being towed away while you open a book advent calendar 😮😮 this was triggering for my December 😭 loved all the slow reveals and love that we got one of the same books. Unsettled Ground is wonderful, I really loved it. The Canterville Ghost is hilarious, Wilde’s stories are soooo good.
Haha the car being towed was an iconic moment! December was obviously the month for car drama!! Since opening it I’ve seen unsettled ground everywhere so think I must have been sleeping on it! Looking forward to trying it soon.
I'm very intrigued by all of these, except secret history. I just read I Who Have Never Known Men and thought it was amazing. Sadly, not all seem to be readily available in the US. I belong to one of the largest library systems in the US and a couple don't show up there. The McCarthy only shows up in translation on Amazon US. I don't expect you to answer this, lol. Thinking maybe someone in the comments has some suggestions.
Ah that’s a shame. It’s downside of being able to watch people talk about books all over the world - it can sometimes be a struggle to source them. I think Blackwells ship internationally but I dread to think how much that would cost. Really pleased you enjoyed I who have never known men. It’s a book I find myself thinking about often.
Yay for I Who Have Never Known Men. I enjoyed Moon Tiger but had some issues with it, I disliked all the characters which always makes me struggle a bit, lovely writing though.
Yes interestingly my gran felt the same way about the main character in moon tiger. She was pretty hateful but I somehow found it endearing! Let’s not think too hard about what that says about me!! I who have never known men was a cracking read.
I'm so excited about this video!!! Commenting as I watch :) Oh you have such good honorable mentions! Oh I should read The Unbroken Beauty of Rosalind Bone for Dewithon. Ah Waiting for a Party made your cut. I preordered it based on the cover. Still need to get to it! THE SECRET HISTORY!!!!! Donna Tartt is overdue for book #4... I love the cover of Moon Tiger!!! I like my books to be larger too!!! Great video :)
Ah thank you Karen! I’m nervous & excited about you reading Waiting for a Party but it’s really stayed with me! Rosalind Bone would be great for Dewithon or shorty September. The secret history was my first Donna tartt! Need to try the goldfinch next.
This was a really fun one, I am definitely going to give ITV’s try & tag you. And what a lovely coincidence that you had a lovely time in Germany, glad to hear that.
Yes my sister lives in Germany so I love to visit! I’d love to see it if you give this a go! Thank you so much for watching ♥️
So many great recommendations 👏🏾
Thank you!! Thanks so much for watching! ♥️
What a fascinating list!! I've read the secret history & moon tiger, but none of the others on this list and I've not heard of most of them - which I love! Your descriptions were great. I'd be interested in the Von Arnim - I've read one of her books but the dog aspect sounds particularly lovely x
Thanks Sarah! I have loved discovering Elizabeth von Arnim this year. Elizabeth and her German garden was brilliant too. ♥️
A great list and a few there that are on my TBR, so you’ve encouraged me to prioritise them.
Oooh exciting! Will look forward to seeing which ones pop up on your Instagram this year! ♥️
Piñeiro is such a delight.😊 I'm intrigued by The Harpy! I love books with older female protagonists, going to try Waiting for a Party ...oh ahem...I see...well, I'm still curious 😆
Great picks
Hahaha cackling at this Katja! Claire was an older protagonist like no other I’ve read. No doddery little old lady vibes in sight! But you could skim read the sexy bits and still have a really brilliant book.
What a wonderful present - well done to your mum! Thank you so much for sharing this video - it was lovely to watch! ✨📚❤️
Thank you so much! I feel the bar is now too high to ever beat this advent calendar! We’ve peaked! 😂 Thank you for watching ♥️
Thank you so much! I feel the bar is now too high to ever beat this advent calendar! We’ve peaked! 😂 Thank you for watching ♥️
Love the idea of flashing up my honourable mentions might do that myself!! Such a great list. Moon Tiger & All Yours especially sound AMAZING ❤
I was determined not to have a long video but couldn’t leave out the honourables entirely! Moon Tiger is brilliant - aside from the main character being a bit unlikeable, there’s not much not to like. Thank you for watching Charlie ♥️
What a wonderful top 10, so many books I've never heard of before, I need to read Waiting For A Party.
Wow thank you for stopping by Scot! I would love to see what you think of Waiting For A Party. I’m nervous about recommending it but it was so original and it’s stayed with me. Salt have a 20% sale at the moment but I hopefully you can get your hands on it in Australia. Thank you so much for watching ♥️
What a magical video: far-ranging discussion, light-hearted & comic tone of appreciation, a generosity in paying honour to great books - marvellous video. I had a blast watching this - thank you.
Thank you so much Phillip. I don’t feel at all confident talking to camera yet! Appreciate your encouragement. ♥️
@: A very enjoyable video - thank you.
What an eclectic list! Love it! And I’ve only read 1/10, so I have plenty to try to get to 🤩
Ooh which one have you read? Thanks so much for watching Gem ♥️
Best wishes for 2025! I hope you get some great stories.
Thank you! Same to you!
Great idea for a video and some fantastic answers.
Thank you Angela! It was fun to throw together.
I love The Diplomat too. All the characters are just so messy and awful, and I love them 😍 The Color Purple (book) is super gay, and neither of the adaptations have been brave enough to portray that properly, which is disappointing.
Ah such a shame they straight-washed it. It’s such a beautiful story. If you havnt watched it, the split is also a good series for messy and awful characters! 😂
Hi Keri, found you through Your True Shelf's Top 10 Booktubers (whom I've also just discovered.) I used to be an avid reader but fell off for quite a while, so I'm looking forward to joining you on your bookish adventures. Greetings from Canada :)
Thanks so much! Sarah is so kind to have done a shout out. Hope you find your reading mojo again. Excellent account name by the way! ♥️
I hope so as well, and thanks 😁
This was fun! It’s almost like you were reading with these prompts in mind because so many fit so well 😂
Ha the temptation to pick my reads for these prompts next year is STRONG! Thank you for watching Ben. ♥️
Fun concept for a video, & I loved your exuberance & joy, great way to review a year. Thanks for another wonderful video.
Thank you Phillip. It was good fun to put together! Happy new year to you. ♥️
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing: Same to you. Hope you have a wonderful coming year.
Brilliant video! May 2025 be less dumpster fire and more of what you love.
Thank you millions as always! And I hope 2025 is a smashing reading (and life year) for you too. ♥️
This was fun 😆
Thanks Gem. It was a laugh to put together. Already looking forward to what next years version might look like. Happy new year ♥️
I loved Noone is talking about this. And Sula. You really got some great books. And are they all new as well, not second hand? This was so much fun 😊 (I think The Railwayman was made into a film with Colin Firth)
Thank you for watching Jen. It was a great adventure box for sure, all new books! I was very spoiled! I’m looking forward to no one is talking about this the most. Happy new year! ♥️
Eyebrows are fucked!
You have so many fantastic books!!!📚 Your mother got you the best book advent calendar that I have ever seen. Unsettled Ground was a five star read for me. They made a really good movie about The Railway Man. I am sure the book is better.
It was such a great calendar! I’m looking forward to unsettled ground. Having not heard of it before I’m now seeing it everywhere so I was obviously sleeping on it! Thank you for watching Anita. ♥️
Love your enthuasism when unwrapping. Enjoy all the books and goodies you received 🤗😉
Nothing more exciting than opening new books! Thank you for watching Berna ♥️
'Lanny' sounds fantastic, I will search this one out, I love magic realism. I really hope this video gets a million views, you deserve this one to go viral (is that the right term?), I loved sharing this joy with you so, thank you. I haven't read any Toni Morrison yet, & I feel rather negligent, anyway... Oh, right, I'm gunna rewatch 'Love Actually' now... I've studied H.G. Wells' essays for the Fabian Socialist Society (I am a life-long member), & loved them, but haven't read any of his novels, can't wait to hear your review of this one. Oh, I am addicted to Guinness (on tap please), so don't often get to drink it, which makes it even more special when I get brave enough to enter a pub). 'Migrations' sounds really good, natural history & Antarctica, how could you go wrong? Can't wait to hear what you thought of this one. Love the puppy interruptions, ah, the bliss of our non-human companions. 'Our Missing Hearts', strike, this one is compulsory, I will search this out, I must read it. Thanks for a glorious video, Keri - this one is really special.
You are too kind! I hope this hasn’t exploded your TBR too much! It certainly has mine! Thank you as always for your kindness and encouragement Phillip.
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing: Ah well, I can only buy what the budget allows, so that curtails the excitement a bit.
What a great advent calendar! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day. x
It was the BEST! I fear chocolate will never suffice again! 😂
Oh, wow, this is such a stunning concept for a video, & I just adore your exuberance & joy. I must look into this for next year - what a hoot!
Best advent ever!!! FYI I looove chronicle of a death foretold (day 5 book) hope you enjoy all your reading!
Thank you millions! I can’t wait to get reading!! It certainly was the best advent ever! ♥️
