This fly takes most of its features from the WD-40 but aside from the differences mentioned above utilizes Coq De...

The 8wt is like using a 4wt rod. This rod is ideal for short quick accurate casts. But even at 8’5” it is just as accurate on long ones too. This rod is a beast for smallmouth also. But the 11’ 3wt is one for the Euro enthusiast. It is easier to use and you are able to hoss the trout in. Brought 36 to the net yesterday with it. That extra 6in really paid off compared to the 10’6” H3 3wt. I have used this rod and will take the Recon 2wt or 3wt over the H3. But I have not been able to use the 5wt yet. I can’t get past the H3 9’6” 6wt 3F. There needs to be more reviews on this series and yet I see rods that I’ve never heard of in their top ten. Seems like they are simply trying to promote new rod companies over the ones that have made their footprint in this sport.

No clue who this guy is but he is someone I definitely would hang out with. Also, really good tip with using the shorty and a floating line. The versatility of the floating line w/ the shorty is great. You can fish nymphs, dries, and streamers all on one rig with leader changes.

  • @edherrmann182

I have used several sighter setups. I even made my own leaders using several sized lines. Recently I am trying straight colored mono 30 lb test and then add my sighter to tippet. I use a combination of tippet rings, blood knots and double and triple surgeon knots. What I found is terminal loops to be a hindrance going through the eyes of my euro rod. On the heavier sections of line I had to use nail knots so the line flows through the rod easier. As I indicated I tried several methods and I am still not satisfied with the performance I guess the bumps in the line coming from the rod from all the knots going through the eyes is something I don’t like. Even though euro nymphing for me has raised fish catching ability, I’m still not satisfied with line and sighter performance. Your video was informative as I recall using the setup you displayed sever years ago. Still looking!

Thanks for the comment! When in doubt keep it simple as possible. Speaking for Scotty I can say simplicity is key and keeps you efficient as an angler. If you're looking for a low profile knot to use when making these leaders you could also look at the double uni knot HERE: goldenfly.shop/blogs/news/2-new-videos-the-clinch-knot-the-double-uni-knot
