Day in the Bog - snippet happy Birthday to John Murtagh

Had the pleasure of the Day in the Bog yesterday with the Clondra Festival. Tea, coffee, beers and cider, scones and boxty and good company where could you go wrong, and a 90th Birthday celebrant John Murtagh. Anytime I go near a bog I always bump into a Lennon, have to have your wits about you with them lads, all great banter. There was a guess the amount of turf competition with all proceeds ...

Great job on the machine Mr Clancy. How much is it going at?
Sorry not for sale
I remember them new. Lambourn cab and no live drive.
That was a great buy in 77. My father bought a fiat at that time but i bet its a pile of rust now
Great stuff Andy
I agree his comments re starting. There was one locally that was easy to start. On the other hand the same 4cly engine was In the allis chambers ed40 we had and it was terrible.
Great sweet little 4 cylinder 👍
Great video. Great to hear Andy’s enthusiasm and passion for quality restoration and maintenance. Keep up the good work.
Very interesting video - thank you for sharing it Michael 👍
Can you do those interviews in the shed.. can't hear him with the wind
@joebarry1974 yeah was bad at times, apologies
He is so interesting.. jes he has some knowledge about those masseys.
I have the EXACT same stool hitch on my 135! 😊. Do you have any info about them hitches? They were probably made locally rather than in Banner lane.
Hello Michael. I hope you had a good time at the streete rally. Are you going to Stewarts Killashee (Farmer Phil) on Sunday 15th September?
@philipoconnor2236 if I can I will thanks for asking
I am going with this Gold Belly too
@@thereseclancy315 brilliant 👍

A Longford Legend
Fantastic interview keep them coming
This man appreciates his tractors and it’s fantastic to see. Well done. I had a 390 12/12 shuttle bought new and I should never have traded it in. Beautiful tractor
Great video. Fabulous tractor & interesting story well told. Keep up the good work.
My dad is a pure massey man too he has a 188 as well what a tractor he was born in 1943
Super video as always. It's lovely listening to someone so passionate about his tractors and preserving his family farming heritage
Thanks very much
Good man Andy ,❤
♥️👍the original 135's are great,*148* im a little more comprehensive!; It worked so 'business hours', the steering wheel only remained iron🤭, the race of the gas pedal melted!!; all deleted??; the same uretilyaptesbayim
Yes, dear sir, even though I don't know your language very well🥱, this tractor is most likely "English made👍" and if the pedals have not been changed or it may have been used in a stationary work!?; ---
Ok
Good man Andy some man for the history 👍
Thanks Michael for capturing these fine tractors from Andys collection. It great to see a tractor looking so original. I see the starter and alternator were changed at some point. Am l right in thinking they'd have been originally painted the same as the engine block? What is the switch on the lefthand side of the dash for?
Yes originally they were. That’s the isolator on the left hand side
@@thereseclancy315 Thanks very much for answering those questions.
Thank you Paddy & Michael Brilliant video I sort of remember seeing something about them in the seventies Goodness I might have to go all the way from Australia to Ballinamore show to shake Paddy’s hand for keeping such a beautiful piece of Irish history going No plenty of French 130 s and 25 or 30 here and of course 135 petrol and Diesel As far as I know the French Tractors were badged 130 and a complete different animal Keep up the good work G Luk ☘️☘️🍀🇮🇪🇦🇺
Wonderfull tractor.
Very interesting. Two neighbours of mine in the mid-70s had new 133s with the Lambourn cab. I understood back then that they were basically a 135 without a dual clutch and with a cheaper cab. What confused me more recently was the specifications you find online. Andy did a great job explaining that those specifications relate to the French built 133 which is different. That was news to me. The fact that he has the original leaflet on the Banner Lane built 133 to show it's provenance is exceptional.
Yes, there is alot of mi's information both online and in book form. All seem to suggest that the 133 was solely French built. But what this man is saying makes perfect sense. I don't think we'd have had them here in Ireland from new if they were French built. It wouldn't make sense when Coventry so relatively near. I hope that was a photocopy and not the origina!! Brochure. My heart skipped a beat when l seen the rain on it!!!
We've a massey ferguson 133 there a great work horse
👏👏🙏🙏🇮🇪🇮🇪👍👍💪💪
Some tractor fair play him
You sold MF135
Its a credit to you andy.. do a review on more.. love the history
Lovely tractor Mr clancy its beautiful
So my school boss was driving past that and I saw it
Absolutely brilliant ye r out r ye own guys.... best entertainment goin n d whole county hands down 🤩🤩😍 yup yup yup 🥰🥰🥰
This tractor for sale
Sorry no, Not for Sale
lights are not original... there are screws in front of the light housing.... original ones don't have that...
All The Massey Ferguson tractors in Ireland were built in Coventry, England. They all have the same screw highlights as on mine. The other Masseys built outside the UK had different lights ok. Thanks for your interest
Ya you can't beat the older tractors will last I have a 165 massey ferguson
They great tractor in day use draw in silage one them single cop on 168.massy good old days credit to ya no tractors where in best place bring to get rebuild and refurbished done on tractor
That's just brilliant. To get to that age and look so well and be able to recite for 5min..... wow! And he didn't falter once! I'd say he's lost count how many times he's done it. I'd say he still kneels and says his prayers every night. An inspiration to a man here half his age.
Thank you for doing these videos. This is Irish heritage for my generation. Great to get the family history from the owners mouth. I hope you continue to do the rest of his collection if he has more. The 135 were a great little tractor and I agree with everything he said about the way they should be restored. That tractor is a credit to him and the passion for keeping his families farming heritage comes across in the videos. I love that. The one thing l would pick out if l was being fussy is the exhaust. They never came black from the factory. It should be white "sandpaper texture" one. Let him tell me l'm wrong. Now l can see why he did that way, matches the cab top. Also l wonder did it ever come the first day with that weight frame? I can't see how it would on a stock farm if his uncle wasn't ploughing
My father would have bought a very similar 135 from Tullamore Motor Works (Athlone) in 73/74 but it had the scirocco flexi cab and fitted with a stool hitch. Ask this man if he knows or remembers anything about that garage
Thank you for your lovely comments. Yes indeed there will be more videos to come further down the line. Michael Croghan did a fantastic job! In answer to the black exhaust, you are totally correct in saying it should be white. But it shows the rust too easily so therefore I went with the black enamel. And it matches the roof as you stated! The weight frame was added when it was being restored as a safety feature.
Sorry he doesn’t know anything about Tullamore Motor Works (Athlone)
@@thereseclancy315 Not to worry. I'm in the process of restoring my girl. Who knows some day, we could get the 2 tractors side by side. She was Galway OZM registration
@@thereseclancy315 A brilliant l'll look forward to those videos. I don't know that man but could listen to him to talk about masseys for hours
Well done Andy you are a credit. great history of a lovely tractor . Looking forward to having a look at your great original tractors Best wishes Ivan
Thanks so much Ivan, Andy
Well done Mr Clancy you have a great memory and very nice tractors
