    Great trigger, it is NOT a slide release, and the safety is fine once you get used to it. For a $245 dollar on sale gun it is fantastic. NOT sure why people have such complaints for a gun of this price with such good features, plus it is durable , reliable and accurate..

    I have a quick question! I just got my RCBS ram priming unit and the mail, but I'm having trouble with it unfortunately. It keeps crushing the primers, but I barely put any pressure on the press handle it won't seat it deeper and the primer is bulging out of the bottom of the case a lot. Then when I apply a little more pressure it ends up always crushing the primer and can't figure it out:(

    Appreciate the video. Something worth mentioning: when you turn on the machine, let it set for several minutes bf commencing to dispense powder. Sometimes when you did everything but it's not cooperating, that's what it wants. The manual may actually mention this, but that's long gone for me.

    The Shooting Chrony ONLY displays the speed AT the Chronograph itself. The Labradar however, is using the first detected speeds and distance from the Labradar to extrapolate what the speed "SHOULD BE" at the muzzle. Considering that the Shooting Chrony is setup 12 to 15 feet away from the muzzle it affects the measurements. As a test I setup my Shooting Chrony 6 inches in front of the muzzle. Which is what you're NOT supposed to do. The muzzle blast can prevent getting a reading. However, each time it got a reading it was VERY CLOSE to the reading from the Labradar. Using another Shooting Chrony setup 15 feet away always showed a lower reading, which was expected.

    Thanks for sharing Mike. After purchasing my Hornady Neck Turner about 12 months ago, I found it awkward to use. I had thought about removing the spring and now that I've seen your video, this is exactly what I'll be doing. I need to figure out your drill attachment - can you tell me what the attachment is please?

    Passing along alittle trick that makes this machine dispense better. Find a plastic straw that fits snug and insert it into the aluminum dispense tube on the machine. Let it stick out about a 1/4" . Maybe allow it to go flush or alittle less on the inside. It will dispense more accurately.

    Our ranch rifles, 1970's Colt AR-15's, are high mileage guns. The barrels are scrubbed and lubed every fifty to 100 rounds and still shoot well after, almost, a half century. They aren't competition guns, so our cleaning protocol is quick and simple.

    The primer depth is not what one should worry about as oppose to bottoming out the primer in the pocket. It is important to bottom the primer out so that it ignites properly. If the primer is not bottomed out it might not go off, or maybe have a delayed ignition. If it is bottomed out it should be recessed. feel for the primer bottoming out and stop. If you wish to crush the primer .001 is plenty, as any further tends to cause a lesser than optimal ignition. So flush with the bottom of the primer pocket or .001 crush is the way to go. no need to measure.

    Don't agree with your Cons at all nothing sharp about the slide release and your Pros that the gun will fire with a round chambered and the magazine not in the well that I do not care for if anyone was able to get my gun away from me I'm going to do all I can to get the magazine to be released and even if one is in the pipe I don't have to be concerned with being shot with my own gun

What he was doing was trying to push it up from front and middle.. I think the front of the safety is the pivot point.I just push up from the very back of it or sweep it off from the back.. like you I have a laser and use the gun mostly as bedside gun.

    Sniper in the field tip. Take a small baby food glass jar and fill 1/3 with your favorite bore cleaner. Add cotton patches which fit your bore size. Now, you have pre-soaked bore cleaning patches. I always wear disposable gloves and use disposable shop towels when cleaning my rifle. Upon task completion, pull your gloves off inside out and insert all waste. Tie open end and carry out with you.

    Thanks for info on rifle cleaning. I'm getting back into shooting and hunting and this is very helpful. I notice that your camera is not showing the end of the barrel/ muzzle . Do you let the jag and/or brush go past the end of muzzle ? Also , if you see this comment I'd appreciate having a copy of the chart . Will this procedure be fine for a rifled shotgun barrel ? And how about a smooth bore shotgun barrel ?

    I just had a SAV-2 installed by a gunsmith in my Savage Model 12 with an Accu-trigger. I have it set to 8 oz, which is consistent + or - 0.2 oz. I cannot get it to inadvertently fire by slamming the bolt shut or dropping the rifle on the butt. Rifle Basix may have made some improvements since your review. I had a gunsmith do the installation because my last trigger job was so aggravating. However, it was his first Rifle Basix installation.

    I just purchased this gun. I agree with your review for the most part. It shoots well and the sights are adequate. I also dislike the magazine release. I have no issues with the safety though. The slide does wear quickly but it is cosmetic so not a big deal.

    Thanks for the video. I have a chrony and debated getting a Lab Radar. This comparison is just what I was looking for to help me decide. Had to chuckle though about not hitting your chrony. Normally shooters who use these are looking for precision in their loads so presumably they are pretty decent, above-average shooters. They should all be able to "miss" an object set up 15 feet away!

    I was told not to use bronze brushes with copper cleaning solvents like Butch's bore shine, since a bronze brush itself is made up mostly of copper, so you will be dissolving your bronze brush in the process. I was told to use a nylon brush when using copper dissolving cleaners.

    • @gordongekko4752
      @gordongekko4752 2 года назад

      1. Use nylon brushes with the copper remover, and then use your bronze/brass brushes for any cleaning without the copper solvent. 90-95% of the time I clean with just Hoppes #9, a non-copper solvent, and then use a copper remover occasionally. If you always use copper remover, you should convert to nylon brushes. 2. Bore brushes are expendable wear items. Buy new bore brushes as needed. 3. If you do use your bronze brush with copper bore cleaner, you can give it some relief by hitting it with some kind of solvent; soap & water, brake cleaner, WD-40, or even a jar of kerosene to dip rinse it.

    I have the Ruger compact 9 and I love it, the only things I don’t like about it is the 10 round magazine capacity, being here in Chicago it’s hard to find magazines over 10 rounds unless you find a bigger magazine in a gun store which I haven’t yet, the other thing is the slightly long trigger pull and reset but I will be putting that red short stroke trigger on it in a few weeks
