    Had hopes for this but your wanbabe gangster routine and calling people bitch for acting like adults makes this unwatchable. Try being yourself and not this bs facade and you might actually develop a real audience. You have a natural charisma but ruin it by trying way too hard. Good kuck.

    Yeah I dealt with it a lot in the mid 90’s and early 2000’s with bullying because I was a goth queer outcast and a lot of my teachers hated me because I pointed out that bs wrong propaganda in the textbooks that they were teaching especially in history and American government class

    Thank you for reacting to one of my all-time personal favourite psychological horror drama films which is a rarity of Martin Scorsese to direct given his high profile for Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino and recently Killers of the Flower Moon. It took me 3 times to watch the film to see the signs that Teddy Daniels/Andrew Laeddis (cool fictional character names) is not who we thought he is. At the end of the film, his last words “What could be much worse in this place: live as a monster or die as a good man” is an indicator that Laeddis opted out for the “lighthouse icepick” due to the fact he got to the point of no longer handling the trauma of killing his wife for killing his kids and not wanting to regress restarting the entire cutting-edge roleplay all over again. As much as I know that it was all a roleplay: I loved the scene of Dr Rachel Solando in the cave, got a feeling it’s real (yet Dr Cawley brushed it off as fake hallucinations in Laeddis’ mind) as I could see this play a role in the plot of a continuation miniseries that I call “Escape From Shutter Island”. No matter if he was thinking of something in the past that’s true or not - the US army liberation of Dachau (among the early Nazi campsites to appear in the Holocaust) resulted in the soldiers and surviving Holocaust prisoners participated in a revenge killing (execution squad-esque) on the camp guards except those who faced the music in the criminal courts. It did happen in our world. An investigation conducted by US army Lieutenant-colonel Joseph Whittaker was suppressed by US army general George Patton and a Bavaria governor to cover up what Laeddis described as “not warfare but murder [on both sides]”. I do believe Laeddis’ involvement in the Dachau liberation and revenge killings was true.

    Plowed through many reactions of this to find someone that gets it and you were spot on the whole time. Well done especially as young as you are. This was an hommage to jazz greats like buddy rich as well as the obvious aspects of what it takes to become great. Listen to clips of buddy rich talk to his band and this makes alot more sense. Well done

    I appreciate that you’re the kind of person who gets confused watching a movie and says “damn, this is complex and intelligent, I need to dig deeper,” and not the kind of person who gets confused and says “this movie is trash. They didn’t explain it well enough.” Great reaction. One of my favorite movies of all time from my favorite director. Thank you for reacting to it and thank you even more for appreciating it for what it is. Not everyone does that.

    The actor that played Nick was one of the Safdie Brother's who directed the film!! Benny Safdie (Nick). And sadly the actor who played Connie's friend with the messed-up face passed away November of last year (2023). RIP Buddy Duress (Ray). There is a really good article about his life on the NY Times website (sorry that we can't post links anymore). But it's called, "Buddy Duress, Who Came Off the Streets to Find Stardom, Dies at 38"

  • @deadsetondreams1988
    @deadsetondreams1988 3 месяца назад

    When I saw this film I took it as Connie was manipulating Nick into everything because he wasn't aware enough for himself. Including his feelings on their Grandmother. Especially since he was even manipulating him into committing crimes. My main reasoning was the throwing a pan at her story and her getting her arm broken. It's been a while since I saw this but if I remember correctly the news made it seem like Connie broke her arm because she was trying to get Nick help but Connie was trying to take him out of it. As we witnessed in the beginning. Everything for Connie was self-serving, he said he loved Nick but if you love someone you wouldn't force them into committing crimes with you. if you were worried about him so much then you wouldn't put him in harm's way like Connie was doing. That's just my interpretation from what I can remember. I completely agree with your commentary. I also appreciate you using proper terminology, I had to click off another reaction to this film as I'm sure you can guess why by me saying that.

    I would love you to watch this again with commentary. You'll get so much more with every pass. 1. Notice how bland Summer's character was? The story is the unreliable narrator trope. It tells it from Tom's skewed perspective. 2. Tom was not in love with Summer. He loved the way she made him feel when she made him feel good and he hated the way she made him feel when she made him feel bad. He didn't love her essence. 3. Tom was self centered. He didn't get cues when Summer was in tears or even seem to care what she was feeling or saying. Not to diss on his character. I love Tom. He's flawed and had to learn a hard lesson. 4. A vital development in the middle of the movie was after the bar fight and Tom lays it all out how he feels. Summer could have let him go but she came to him and wanted to give it another try and open up. She seemed to consider being in a relationship with Tom. 5. There was a character arc with Summer, she became a romantic. 6. Last of all, notice the colors. Summer wore blue and Tom wore neutral fall colors. Autumn also wore Tom's brown color palette. That gave me hope in their future relationship. I'm sure there is more that I missed but it is such a beautiful film on so many levels.

    28:40 Were you alive in 1999 when this movie came out? At that time, not every middle-class household (even here in the USA) had a computer. The internet we used back then was dial-up (phone), and everyone still knew the definition of a VHS and caset tape. Many phones still had cords. The computers you are visualizing in the movie are fairly relevant to what people thought would fit in a more futuristic apocalyptic technology in machines such as ships. 27:20 Also, this movie (as well as the others) does include reference to different religions or mythology. Yes, "Neo" represents "one" because he is "the one" like Jesus to sacrifice himself and Trinity as his gf. And Morpheus obviously being the "father," but that's as far as it goes with christianity. The nane "Morpheus" itself is from Greek mythology, who actually consults with an "Oracle," and the traiter is "Cypher." The movie "The Matrix" is not connected or based on any specific religion or beliefs. It simply takes parts from different religions, beliefs, and mythology to add in a greater spin. It is similar to quotes taken from movies like Alice in Wonderland or The Wizard of Oz.
