Electrum In-Depth Review - AMAZING Guitar Amp Simulator & FX plugin VST by United Plugins
It's not working for me. Do I need to use headphones? Even with headphones, it's not changing the pitch at all. It has zero effect on my voice. I use Ableton.
I'd have to see what you're doing wrong to figure it out. Did you select a scale other than Chromatic and have the correction knob turned up? Otherwise you might hit Waves support for an answer. Also based on asking if you should use headphone or not, I'm assuming you maybe have a lot of background noise. If the mix is also in the same track as your vocal then it won't know what to do. You have to feed it a clean, monophonic signal for it to work.
@@GourlieRecords There’s no background noise. I just want to record my voice and hear the pitch thing work. I’m not hearing anything taking effect.
@@aarontoalet I'd really have to see your setup to diagnose because there's a slurry of things you could be doing wrong. I'd really just contact Waves support 😉
@@GourlieRecords It somehow works now. Although I’m not hearing it in real time, I hear the effect when I play back the audio recording
sounding good
Just FYI the VST is on sale for 70% off at the moment (49 euros where I am)
Youre wrong about the flexibility of this synth. Been using it for a long time on my MPC and you can do a lot with it if you take the time to figure it out.
That's the thing though, It's a great MPC app since the interface for the MPC is so tiny and a synth needs to be stripped down to its absolute basics to be programmable. But for their pricepoint as a VST on a compute (MSRP on their site is now $150), it has 10% the capability of pretty much any other synth at that tier. The main issue is the price point to functionality. It can no doubt make cool sounds but if you compare it to anything at that price point it's like comparing apples to a grocery store.
@@GourlieRecords I think you're probably being fair if you buy this as a stand alone VST. But given that this thing came free with the 2.1 update for MPC owners Im super happy with it. I get a lot of milage out of this synth. Plus you seem to have missed that if you want to build your own presets you need to start from the 'init' presets.
Thats hot but kinda funny😂
Not bad
man can somebody just show how to set up the wave tunes plug in. Its installed but nowhere in my computer files, it doesnt show up in Ableton, theres no video showing how to even set up the plug in for ableton. Every tutorial starts out with it pre-installed with no explanation how and its so dam frustrating. Cause its not simple at all, I just wanna know how to open it and sync it with Ableton. why is this so dam complicated
It sounds like you might have chosen a custom install location. If you’re not installing it in the default location with the rest of your plugins then you need to select your custom install location in your plugin settings within Ableton. Also you can rescan for plugins in this settings window as well.
The cotton batts are a great idea! Very underrated sound absorption material. I found cotton moving blankets at Home Depot a few weeks ago...apparently, they're so new that HD shipped them to me free. The blankets are about 1/16 - 1/8" thick, so 8 of them would be 1/2 - 1" thick, and there are 24 per pack. The blankets are 72 x 54, so you may be able to fold them to make them thicker. I had a distiller running in my basement kitchen and I put 6 of them in front of the cased opening, and the sound difference was amazing...way more sound attenuation than I got from several thick moving blankets.
I could see those being useful for mobile panels too like if you have a big open space but just want to dampen sound in a spot where you’re recording, you could even have various hooks in the ceiling to hang them from to make a modular sound dampening set up.
Can It be done dawless?
Good question. Dubler runs as a standalone software so you will need a computer. I used a DAW to pass MIDI through the virtual port of Dubler to my audio interface's MIDI out. I'm not sure if you can go straight from Dubler to the MIDI out of your interface, you might shoot them an email.
Oh man, so nice. The overlapping rhythms and notes that this thing is capable of a beautiful, like this 👌🏻 I also love that it can get completely bonkers and gnarly too 😄 What reverb are you pushing it through here?
It's running through Cherry Audio's Galactic reverbs, it's one of my top 3 favorite reverbs.
Hahaha, 5 stars for the intro 😂
SK1 Bypass Filter mod
Nice. Where'd you get the lighting, btw?
They are GVM (Great Video Maker) RGB lights
Can it replace roli
It’s much cheaper has WAY more functionality. The only thing that Roli has on the ERAE is that it’s fixed in a keyboard layout with raised keys so the haptic feedback is more familiar for piano players whereas the ERAE is totally flat. That said the flat surface allows you to configure the device however you want whether it’s a piano roll, drum pad, or MIDI knobs.
This is SO full and present sounding.. software has come so frigging far.
It really has!!
Groove maschine m4l thats reminds on LEPLOOP mini synth... 💪💥🗯🔥💭❤💨🕊 p.s. the standalone'$ maybe work well with the Push controller .
Just 28k views? wow. at this moment that Im watching the review this plugin is at 30$. I came to watch this review/comparison 'cause I did not thought it was good or better than the antares one. Also as u can see with the grammar, Im still learning english but I really understood everything u said... not like other channels who speak like if their mouths were closed lol. Appreciate the effort to make a good video <3
My pleasure, thanks for the kind words!!
Still haven't figured out how exactly you did that. Sounds good though. Curious what you have going on there.
As far as “performance it’s just opening up the decay and filter cutoff. In terms of the sequence you should be able to replicate by setting the knobs accordingly but one thing that is often overlooked with the Subharmonicon is the reset button. When building your sequence, turning the knobs while the sequence is running can often lead to patterns that sound good but don’t start on the first step of the sequencer beat, so when you turn the unit off and back on to start the sequence over, the start you may have been using in your head as the sequence start might not be the Subharmonicon’s actual first step, if that makes sense. I watched a lot of videos on this before buying and the alarming majority of content creators didn’t understand that element of the synth. Also when building this sequence I used the next and trigger buttons to tune each step individually to make sure they all played close to my desired scale, which I think was C minor. It’s a tricky synth but the creative exploration is mighty!
Good Work, Downloading Waves Real Time. I Like It. Thanx
Is cool, but i still prefer bitwig drummachine
Just bought this nice
Pretty ordinary patch if you ask me.
Thanks for sharing, what is the software you use to visualize the waveforms?
Sorry for the delay in response, RUclips just notified me I had an open question. 😋 It’s Spectrum, a native plugin within Ableton Live.
This is really great info. I was wondering why Arturia stuff seems to compare to Cherry, when they clearly don't. Maybe it is because they have been around far longer. I was in college when they started. Besides I already have a ton of excellent efx plugins that sound way better than arturia. I really need the raw goodness from a soft synth emulation. The sounds need to take me back to my kidhood, otherwise it's a no go.
The Hypesynth is very great. I use it in my MPC. And for that kind of stuff for Sound Design is really cool. But I prefer to use the MPC with external Hardwaresynth
Awesome idea making a board ! Thanks for the inspo
The board has been a lifesaver! I have 4 Behringer synths and a Moog on it along with some percussion instruments. Super versatile.
I'm using this Cherry MiniMoog to help me with my Moog emulator hardware, ie. Behringer Poly D useage and exploring and having some kind of "presets" to dial in to the no-presets hardware as someone who never did real synthesis much before. I love it and I love knowing I got the right one over the Arturia plugin in this case, since I'll add my own effects and needed to learn from good engineers the wide range of settings that sound good standalone on the Cherry. Maybe with a Juno 60 Chorus plugin since there's one on the Poly D!😆
I think a "companion" app to use as a guide for presets on your hardware is a good idea. Once you tinker with it for a bit I'd be curious to know if you hear much of a difference between the software and your Poly D and if one sounds better than the other.
@@GourlieRecords I'll play some more ASAP and comment further. I have not done a fair side by side test of if the knobs are in exactly the same position, but when doing generally the same things, like a fat lead of a given shape & filter, or making it say "wow!", I can't tell a for sure quality difference at all. I thought maybe it was my imagination in wanting to compare Cherry takes through a couple types of very light compression emulating this or that analog equipment, next to the Poly D, but my ear isn't finely honed and I couldn''t tell yet. To be fair I'll run the Poly D through the same DAW and not just listen to headphones directly from the Poly D, comparing it to the soft synth through the UA-Volt 2 etc... both will be thru the Volt 2 to Reaper and I'll come back with links here and post it on a forum. I'm glad I have at least one analog subtractive synth but it makes me realize what an amazing time this is for soft synths and fx. I'm loving the Wasp analog, free, called Stinger by Ian Webster (Krakli). The first preset called Bee Venom or whatever, lol, is fantastic for a Barbarella-sounding lead!
what if we are getting it for free..
Then create away! 😝
9:29 💀ok
I love it when trendy ass twatsters “discover” a 39 year old key board from 1985 and think they discovered it. 😂
This isnt for free is it? I only have Ableton and windows 😢
You’ll have to buy Little Alter Boy then the rack I made for Ableton will work for ya.
@@GourlieRecords oh thanks
Fantastic observation of the market ! Thank you for the definitions & insight
My pleasure! 😊
Thanks for the great video. Seems like a cool synth. Kind of reminds me of the Elektron drum synth.
When you gradually open up the filter on a Moog and it is just effing plush and smooth the entire way through with zero artifacts zero aliasing and no jitter whatsoever you understand why they are sooooo expensive.
Beautiful sound!
I bought one in the mid 80s and wore it out over the next 30 years of regular use. I bought another one on eBay a few years ago, and it was practically new and is holding up really well. For me, unlike most people who prize them, I have it for the one key play feature. The ability to store four part chords and the range as well as the brass ensemble sound make it perfect for arranging… Wait for it… Barbershop Quartet charts for male voices.
Does that app work with midi synths in a DAW too?
It does! It's setup as a virtual MIDI control on your computer so it becomes a selectable MIDI device to use in your DAW or virtual synths as well as to control any physical synths via MIDI out on your audio interface.
UNDERRATED VID!!!
I have to agree! 😋
That reverse build up is so smooth
1:16 never been more disappointed than after hearing that information
looks great but seems intensive on CPU - 22-25% is a lot for just one instrument
Seems like a modern version of their ancient Xpand2.
Sorta. You get way more control with Xpand though.
@@GourlieRecords I am not sure, there is very little control in Xpand. The main difference seems to be the possibility of layering 4 sounds. But the 6 patch-specific parameters are very similar. Which one has better sound quality?
Hey great rack just what I am looking for, I'm having an issue though on Ableton 11 suite: when I load the rack, Rotating Rhythm Generator cannot be found despite having it in my packs. when I hot-swap it I lose all your macro settings. Could you tell me what you have mapped in the Rotating Rhythm Generator please, so that I can replicate the settings?
You bet! This is a known bug so I made a video about the fix. Takes just a few minutes but you only have to do this once then it will be good to go for future sessions: ruclips.net/video/-ti2zpQHJXk/видео.html
@@GourlieRecords Legendary! thank you
Great video🎉
Just bought it. Great 👌
I appreciate the support!! 😊
Would be nice if there was a "Lite" version which had the sample loader and cross fade orbits minus the samples for like $49 ...its a cool plug in but too pricey IMO to justify an effect chain consisting of volume cross fades between audio, spacial panning, arpeggiation however I definitely see the convenience ..I'd definitely snap it for like $50 for the convenience but $180 is pretty pricey , especially if you are never going to use the stock sample libraries .
That’s a great point. It’s an excellent engine even without their samples. Their sample libraries are outstanding quality but they no doubt make it more expensive up front.
Great rating system! Thank you.
We have a different definition of savage, but it's alright for new vst collectors & it's certainly nice for the price, which I believe two years later is usually free.
I’d probably use a different descriptor today. 😋
Hallucinations is my favorite patch you made. It's just got that perfect The Cure All Cats Are Grey timeless analog british post-punk/new wave identity to it's sonic dna. I'll have to pick me up one of these. Beautiful sound patch design work, my friend!
Thanks for listening!! 😊
Dam the disprespect of talking about space reverbs and not mentioning still the best in United Plugin Hyperspace or arguably the plugin this idea stole its ip from in Comet.
You don’t know what you don’t know, I’ll have to check that one out! 😉
