Since making this video, I've made a premium version of this called Melodizer Black which is a much more versatile Max For Live device: ruclips.net/video/ssYpCbTbMsI/видео.html
This is probably the best random midi melody machine I've heard (the demo and just before demo has me sold. Excellent work here boss! Can't wait to play with it. Downloaded and subbed!
Hey buddy thanks for mentioning me and my channel! Unfortunately i’m a Bitwig user but i think it should be possible within Bitwig also 👍🏼Keep up the great work !🎉
Hey great rack just what I am looking for, I'm having an issue though on Ableton 11 suite: when I load the rack, Rotating Rhythm Generator cannot be found despite having it in my packs. when I hot-swap it I lose all your macro settings. Could you tell me what you have mapped in the Rotating Rhythm Generator please, so that I can replicate the settings?
You bet! This is a known bug so I made a video about the fix. Takes just a few minutes but you only have to do this once then it will be good to go for future sessions: ruclips.net/video/-ti2zpQHJXk/видео.html
It was designed in an older version so yes it should work no problem! Link for reference: www.gourlierecords.com/store/p/melodizer-passive-melody-generator
Very cool! Thanks for sharing. Will be testing it with my Vermona Perfourmer MK2. Curious how I can best add 4 ch output w/o having to use 4 copies of this rack (splitting the output of notes)!!!
Nice let me know how it goes! You can obviously send the same MIDI data to as many tracks as you want but I have come up with a train of ideas for splitting the notes or adding unique elements to different instruments with 1 instance of Melodizer. A few of them: 1) One of the best ways to split the output of notes would be using MIDI effect racks on the tracks receiving the MIDI data and having the instrument only receive certain notes. With the MIDI effect rack you can open up the rack's chain list, select the Key tab, and drag that instrument to only be active on a chosen key range. Great for basses or leads. You can also then add MIDI effects to that rack to adjust more specific parameters for the instrument. (Also you can just use an instrument rack on the same track and Melodizer and use chains the same way to have multiple instruments on one track all receiving different splits. Just makes it harder for mixing/sends) 2) You can change the note length for one track but not others by putting a Note Length on a track receiving MIDI and make that track either a short length or a long sustain (maybe you have a pad on one track you want to have long sustain but a lead on another that you want to have short length). This should override the track length set in Melodizer. 3) Add an Arpeggiator onto a track. With this you can engage "Hold" on the arp and it will hold that note until a new one is received. This could be cool for Basses. You can then also repeat that note to build rhythm without the requirement for a new note to be sent over from Melodizer. 4) On one of the receiving tracks you could add a Chord MIDI effect followed by a Scale effect preset in your chosen scale which would generate chords for you from just the single MIDI note sent from Melodizer. 5) Use an LFO to change some of the parameters of Melodizer. If you have a track receiving bass notes but you want it to not receive as many but still be within the Note Range of Melodizer, you can add an LFO to the bottom note parameter. This means that the knob will sweep up to the more mid range and play notes only higher but gradually the LFO will lower the bottom note and trigger a bass note. If you use this in tandem with idea #3 for instance, then from that 1 midi note being sent to your bass it will hold the Arpeggiator until a new note is sent. (You can also LFO things like speed, certain note velocities being adjusted to turn notes on and off, lower max velocity, etc. I could probably go on like this for a long time. Maybe I'll make a video about it. But you get the idea! 😅
@@GourlieRecords Thank you very much for such a detailed response to my question, much appreciated! Great ideas that you have outlined as well. I will test a couple of things out. I was thinking every other note could be sent to 1 (of 4) channels in order (or even random) to 4 tracks which would have the external synth channel. In my test/example 4 channels for the Vermona. By the way, a follow-up video would be AWESOME, again, THANK YOU!
No offense, but I don’t think anyone who paid for Live is going to risk violating their user agreement and losing their license over someone who didn’t pay to support the software that they had to purchase. Cracked software will always be at a disadvantage.

This morning the Melodizer is going to help me make a cup of tea! xD
Hahaha! Most excellent! 🙌

I also made a Max For Live version of this (but on steroids) you might enjoy, but it's note free 😉ruclips.net/video/ssYpCbTbMsI/видео.html
@@GourlieRecords I picked up both 😄 a small token of support
@@donnytheflow I really appreciate it! 🕺
radical. thank u very much for making this and offering it for free
My pleasure! I benefit from a lot of free software in the community so I just want to give back.
I totally can't wait to play with this :) Thank you!
My pleasure! Let me know how you get on with it. 🕺

No problem, thanks for the inspiration!
Brilliant tutorial !
Thanks, Marti!
very good 👍👍👍
Much appreciated! 🙌
Bless you
Thanks, friend! 🙌
This is fantastic! Thank you so much
My pleasure, glad to hear it's getting put to use! 🙌

What creative uses do you have for Melodizer?
I love it ... does this patch work for Abelton 11.3
It was designed in an older version so yes it should work no problem!

Will this run on push 3 standalone?
I doubt that it would, but it is free to download so you can test if you like 😉 (I don't have a Push 3 Standalone to test, unfortunately)
someone cand send me the cv tools please? would be grateful my ableton is cracked :( plz plz plz
