Adventure in the arctic, Polar bear break in on Herschel island. #arcticocean
Hershel island. The last episode of our Arctic adventure series, 3 weeks in the high Arctic as a family. This journey has been filled with unforgettable moments, and we can’t wait to share our arctic experiences with you!
After traveling to Old Crow by snowmobile, we returned to Fort McPherson, having to turn back instead of navigating through the mountains to reach the Arctic Ocean that way. The decision was tough, but safety always comes first. From Fort McPherson, we continued our 3 week family adventure by snowmobile on the ice road to Aklavik. Beyond Aklavik, the landscape transforms dramatically-there are no more roads or communities, just an endless expanse of ice and whiteness that...

I contacted the Otter tent company and was told these tents are not waterproof. They said use seam sealer . Probably the best solution is to put a tarp over the top. This will also add air space for extra insulation. Have you had any issues starting the skidoos in the cold over -30? What recommendations do you suggest for starting skidoo in extreme cold weather? Do you carry a battery booster as the Skandic does not have a pull start? I just bought the 2025 Skandic 900 ACE with 24 inch track and will pick it up at Yukon Honda soon. Did you buy the left throttle or did you make it? Enjoy all your adventures and helpful hints. This inspired me to buy the Skandic. Looking forward to your next adventure.

@@rufusirvin5279 hello! This is exactly our plan for the tent. Silicon on the seams and a tarp on the roof. I think our tent has a defect. Most seams are fine but about 25% are off (like they used a needle much too big for the thread and you can see the light through the holes!) The 900 aces we have start very well by -40c. Haven’t had an issue with cold weather starting. I was concerned before we experimented with them and had installed block heaters on them, for those big group snowmobiling trips with generator, but never actually needed them. We do not carry a battery booster with us as we could jump start them with cables and because of weight concern on some of our trips. But I would carry a battery booster, if I was travelling on my own or if weight wasn’t a concern. For the left throttle, I’m using a “gold finger” with a bracket that I fabricated (since they don’t make one for that model). Thanks for watching our videos. Have a nice winter, and maybe we’ll meet on the trails. Cheers

Hey guys! I just watched your last 2 videos u posted…. What an epic adventure ! Leandra I love that you said , better than any beach holiday! We must have a lot in common! For my 30th wedding anniversary my husband fulfilled my dream of driving the dempster all the way to tuktoyaktuk and getting in the Arctic Ocean!!! It was the most memorable trip I’ve ever been on.. I always said , is wish I could see it in winter. I look at the three webcams on the dempster every few days..my heart was left up there. You guys did such a great job filming. And oh my goodness you cleaned that hunters cabin up so well!!! That was so awesome of you guys! That’s something my husband and I would have done.. I have since lost him to brain cancer back in April of this year, we never got that trip to Atlin , but maybe someday I will be able to travel again .. he was my best friend and travel buddy so it’s a bit tough right now. I took off for the Yukon a few months ago and made it half way to Whitehorse and had to turn around.. I completely lost it without him in the passengers seat. I couldn’t do it… it was too soon. So many memories around every corner… but If I ever make it to Atlin I’ll let you know! Would love to meet you all! Thanks again Leandra, Philippe and Justin you put a smile back on my face.. the joy and amazement and fun you had fulfilling that dream was very evident.❤ and made my heart so happy for you guys!

Comment 2 the creek where you hit that water. My son Samuel broke the trail. He said there was no water when he went through. The guys that got stuck in there ahead of you was a RCMP patrol. I think they turned around from there Myself and two Yukon COs went through there while you were at Herschel. It was all frozen. I think a beaver dam busted on the side Creek.
