They WILL try to sucker punch you. As someone who grew up in one of the shittiest parts of Soviet Union (Russia now) and have been in countless street fights, the absolutely crucial part is keep yourself out of striking distance (while you’re engaged into verbal foreplay). But when the first punch is thrown, distance is your enemy (jiu-jitsu guys will know what I mean). BUT!…. If you live in US, carry a gun and practice your drills.

I'm tired of the efficacy of Martial Arts compared to combat sports but the most important thing has always been the fighter. And you are a good example. Great skills there.
