Welcome to my Channel!
I am a part-time Knife maker/Blade Smith currently living in Pennsylvania. I started making knives in 2010 using the stock removal method and progressed into forging in 2018. The videos I share will include both methods as well as tutorials in Leather Sheath making and various DIY projects around the shop.
My goal is to provide content that is educational and entertaining to the viewer. Thanks for joining me and I'm looking forward to sharing my blade making journeys with you!
Thanks,
Shane Wismeyer

Nomad Utility Blade with Finger Ring handle
Просмотров 437Год назад
In this episode, I'll be practicing my hammer and forging techniques using a piece of 1-1/4 x 1/8 in. 1075 bar stock. The only plan I have would be to slot punch and drift a finger ring at the end of the tang. The rest of the blade shape will materialize as I hammer it out. I'm going for an EDC type utility knife to go with the Combat Kukri I made in the previous video. If you missed that one, ...

Hey folks, this is my entry for the RUclips knifemakers challenge (Viewer Participation). The Kusarigama is a chain and sickle Japanese weapon. It is not a typical Samurai weapon like the Katana, Wakizashi and Tanto...but more so - a weapon used against the Samurai by Ninja clans and the Okinawan farmers more than 2 centuries ago. The 6-10 foot chain was used to entangle and disarm swords, staf...

That is thee most beautiful knife sheath I have ever seen ! I’m a huge stag handle Bowie nut . They all have basic leather sheaths . I’m thinking for my big crown stag handle bowies , this would most definitely be a huge improvement on their appearance. Especially my custom Aldo Raine Inglorious Basterds Bowie . I am going to hire you . Yeah this is really awesome ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
@@tubes5150 Thank you for the kind words. This style absolutely dresses up any antler or bone handle blades. We can talk about a commission when you’re ready. Thanks for watching man!
@ Sounds great !! I’ll be in touch ….
Thats cool! Rawhide was the original kydex sheath 😅
@@rottvang 🤣never thought of it that way. Nice one!
@outlawbladesandleather did you invent that or was that done back then like that? It's awesome
@ I don’t think the natives did it the way we do it today. I think they used straight rawhide with out the inner core of veg-tan leather. The way I do mine is more modern and I did not invent it. I learned from John Cohea who is renowned for this type of work.
hey buddy, beautiful piece! I was just about to ask what is the bit You using for cutting them holes in the handle, but you have said it is rubbish, I have another one what glue did you use on wood to metal, thanks for sharing!
@@qcrafted Hey Thanks man! Those bits are not complete junk. The pilot drill is crap. It only made it through the first hole then wouldn’t cut for nothing. Had to pre drill the remaining 5 pilot holes with a better bit then continued on with the main hole bit. It has carbon teeth so it worked ok. It just took a while to get through the 3/8 thick steel. I use Gflex epoxy to glue up the handles. Thanks for watching dude!
That's the most beautiful piece of art I've ever seen in a while,

Great piece, great video. Now that I have said that, if you could handle a little constructive criticism, please lose the music. I have been following bladesmiths and blacksmiths for years and the audiences don't mind a little shop noise. The problem with music is that out of the millions of potential subscribers you will be lucky to find 10 percent that share your taste in music. So, kill the music, don't kill the music, I will still watch. New subscriber here. 😎 Oh yah, that scabbard was awesome.
@@stevedoolanTacoma thanks for the feedback Steve! You are not the only one to mention losing the music. My more recent vids only have music at the end and not throughout. Check out the Badlands Bowie vid and let me know what you think. It’s been about 5 months since I have posted anything due to taking the summer off to build my new shop, but I have more content coming soon. Thanks again, I truly appreciate your honest feedback. And thank you for the sub. God bless my friend

Dremel, or Fordom, the stippling / texture looked cool. How about a video on tool, burr selection and how-to? Thanks !!
@@Jasoncohenour Hey Jason. I used a Fordom tool for the stippling. That was the first time I ever used this method to create texture, and it is not something I do on a regular basis. I think a how-to video on this process is outside my wheelhouse because I don’t have one 😂. I appreciate your comments and I hope you got something out of the build.
