Good video, I noticed Jeff's points have a little curve on the tip, similar to a ripper point on a dozer. If Im looking at them correctly, that may be why they grab so well.

We logged mostly in winter, couldnt get them to bite and stay in frozen wood. We had thicker barked trees , dont know if that makes a difference?

The octagon dixie tongs are older and come with the proper set in them when they come from the factor. It seems you have to work on these round ones to get them to grab like they should.

Thanks for the video I’ve never been able to get the tongs to work right for me. I’m going to look at the tips on mine now. I use log grabs but the disadvantage with them is you have to have a hammer with you.

Always amazed me that there are guys that still log with horses and mules but I guess there are places that unless you want to tear them up bad horses and mules are the only way to get get there get the logs and get out and a couple good ones working together with someone that knows what they are doing can pull logs out of places you wouldn’t believe. Big logs I can’t imagine the weight they can move and usually always seem proud of what they did as they should be. They are amazing
