It's called the MEGA DROP for a reason. || Mark Matthews Feature
This experience was truly remarkable and one we won't soon forget. Thanks to @MarkMatthewsMTB for the invite! While Big drops are a staple in the world of mountain biking, there's something profoundly unique about witnessing a professional rider scout, build, and hit their own creation. It's a process that is as humbling as it is inspiring.
Our original plan was to capture this incredible feature in one day. However, after assessing the conditions, Mark made the prudent decision to hold off. His patience paid off in spades. On our second day on site, the atmosphere was electric. The anticipation and intensity were palpable.
We were fortunate to have Mark's good friend, and solid rider in h...

WHICH IS BEST FOR MTB POV? || 8:7 vs. 16:9 Aspect Ratios

The GoPro Hero 12 is an incredible camera for catching stunning POV footage. On its own there are a number of aspect ratios to choose from. In theory, the 8:7 Wide setting should have the widest and best aspect ratio for POV, but is the 16:9 Hyperview mode worth checking ut? In this video I compare both on the same trail, same day on a chesty mount and recommend my favourite setting and why. Ch...

    • @RyandeMilliano

      Transitions seem like the ideal for sure. With our trails I tend to lean towards clear since the zones I ride rarely have direct sunshine in my face and 90% of the trails I ride are in the trees, but there are definitely some days when I am lapping the open zones I bring the tinted and just ride without glasses in the trees.

      Definitely depends on the season, we always get the precipitation but we float around 0C, so it can turn to rain quick. Last season we had 5% days like this but the season before, probably 40% as it was colder.

    Funny but true story. Me and my friend went tj my Washington to bike. I thought my friend would come ripping some blues and blacks with me but when we got to the top he was very scared so we went Dow. Green line. Near the middle of the day we’ve mainly done green and blue laps together expect for the one time I split off to hit the wiz. By this time I convinced him to go down the blue/black trail because I was board. I crashed my bike unfortunately so we went back down to Courtney to get my bike fixed. When we got back we had time for Mabye 2 laps possibly 3. I didn’t want to waste the day i I told him that he could roll over everything on the wiz and away we went. To my surprise he was able to hit some of the jumps but still not clear them. When we finished up on blue hammer after we saw the beautiful mounds of dirt that formed back in black. Not wanting to waste the day I tried hitting the jumps up to the step down. These being the biggest jumps I’ve hit I was soooo stoked when I cleared them all. I begged my friend to follow me into the section I just rode and he agreed. As I hit the first jump I could help myself but scream “LETS GOOOO!”. I guess my energy convinced my friend to actually pull for the jumps because I looked back and I saw him flying through the air on his 800$ hard tail screaming with joy. He cleared them all so we proceed to walk back up and ride the rest of the trail Spotting out each feature along the way. As we finished the trail full of joy we headed up for what we thought would be our last lap. From the top of back in black we rode full of joy sipping and tableing all the massive jumps. When we got to the bottom we heard the lift starting to slow down until we got a bit closer. The lift operator hollers at us “hurry up!” As he rushes inside to start the lift back up. Me and my friend were so stoked so for our last lap we decided to shred hwy19 into the wiz then onto blue hammer and finishing it off with back in black. As we finished the wiz on our hard tails we met up with I think was the last ground on The mountain that day to train on blue hammer into back in black. Me and my friend were clearing all the jumps with style and enthusiasm while training with two others. When we got to the bottom we couldn’t help but smile and laugh at the fact that my friend just hit a massive jump trail out of both our leagues at the time on the same day he was scared to hit a green. Employees were awesome and I will never forget that day. Can’t wait to go up 2024

      Dude, thanks for sharing such a rad story. It’s the best when you are able to ride with a friend and enjoy a day of progression together. I’m glad you guys got onto back in black and The Wiz, I find those ones are really well maintained generally. Stoked for ya, enjoy 2024!

    Great video - Really liked the info on the parking and lifts. Rock Gardens looks amazing. How would you rate Marmot Basin, Panorama, Sunshine Banff, and Lake Louise for a primarily black diamond skier (enjoy some double blacks as well)?

    • @RyandeMilliano
      @RyandeMilliano 4 месяца назад

      Thank you! All are very similar terrain, if you are more of a freeride black diamond skier, Marmot has the knob chair and boot packing; Pano has Taunton Bowl; Sunshine has Delirium Dive and Lake Louise has its backside lift terrain. If you like going fast on steep and amazing groomers, Pano has generally quieter runs and the on hill accommodation is just awesome for family and groups, one of my favourites for sure.
