Blender - Stylized Painterly Shader
i have followed the full tutorial but mine looks nothing like that i cant find the blend mode options in evee mode and in cycles mode the shadow gets to none but the blend mode is stuck at alpha hashed and never changes when i try to mine looks far away from urs so it will be helpful if u could give a solution to this problem i am using 4.2 blender and each and everything i have copied from the tutorial its 2:13 am and i am still trying to figure this out but cant
When I replace the Raycast node with the Raycast+ node, the collisions stop working. Any ideas? I make sure to make all the connections I see in the video here. I just replace the Raycast node with the Raycast+ node as shown and the rain no longer hits the ground target plane, the rain just goes right through the ground even though right before replacing it, i was getting the non-animated splat as seen at 6:09.
hello bro i have question..how did you learn to make all those amazing thing on your channel with geometry node...i really want to learn and utilize geometry node but i dont understand the way..i have tried paid and unpaid tutorial but not really sure where i am going..can you give advice please...that how to learn this type of new skills like geometry node in blender...
my shadow color wont chnage, it stays black
Loved it
Uggghhh, is there a way to do that last bit without Goo? Lost my job and can't afford the measly $5 right now.
Oh sorry to hear that. 😭 The highlight effect can also be made using Grease pencil curve, or the fresnel node. Let me know if you need any help. Also, I'm want to make a "For Studies" program, which I will just give my assets for free. Let me know if you are interested! You can message me in Twitter.
omg really thanks man, ur amazing
thanks, but anyway so how am I able to add highlight color ?
why can I still see the points event though it goes through instance on points?
thankyou bug
Thanks man, fantastic.
Thank you for this video, you, comfee mug and CG Dash are my go to channels for anything anime or stylized
Is there a simple way to adjust the shader and render engine settings to catch shadows without casting with the eevee changes in blender 4.2? I can turn off the sun light source shadows but then the cube does not cast any shadows and it seems that light groups are still cycles only
I love your videos but it sucks that you don't do tutorials for the advanced versions of things.. I don't mind the actual files being paid, but if I can't even learn to make the nice things, then it's demotivating to learn anything in your style
That's very fair. And yeah I want to be more open about these complex stuffs too. I think a lot about how should I give as many assets as I could while also making money. I did recently decide to make all the launches of the paid stuffs to be free. Like the Grass Advanced was actually free for a few days, and 8,000 artists did get it for free. 👍 You can see the sales in the product page. It was definitely one of the best thing I did, and I'd definitely do it again. I means I can give free stuffs to my royal followers while also making some money for the assets I make.
@@tawansunflower Yeah I want you to get revenue as well and I think you should sell all your assets, but is it hard or bad to make tutorials for the advanced things? Would people not buy your assets anymore? I'd imagine that you could sell everything, and still make tutorials, so people who wanna learn can still do, and those who just don't wanna bother and wanna buy the asset straight away can do so too. But I don't know, I'm just a viewer ^^" Anyway thanks for the answer and for your work, I wish you great success!
@@tawansunflower Patreon members could also get access to your videos and stuff earlier!
but what next? for example, I created a location and I want to add grass to certain areas of the area, say in the corners of buildings, a little in a vacant lot, what if I want the grass to be somewhere higher, somewhere lower. How can I use this method? How many computer resources does this method consume? But what if there are also animating flags and water in my location? Is this method optimal or is it just a way to create grass without the ability to use it later?
Here's my question where's part 2?
Could someone help me please with adding a attribute node in the geometry nodes to assign the grass to a vertex group or be able to weight paint the grass (I tried messing around but I couldn’t figure it out), also when I rotated the wind in geometry nodes the texture of the grass didn’t rotate so the wind highlights are blowing backwards lol.
Cool thing about your color picker is that you naturally get a perspective on where to find your light source intensity, bounce light intensity, shadow intensity, and deep/ambient occlusion intensity due to how the color picker is encompasing towards light in the top and right sides. Or maybe it's just that way to my brain, but it reduces millions of guesswork and I can now see how HGJart even was able to break into imagination with colors dynamically. Didn't even see it this way until today I started learning and watching your video! Should definitely make this a Photoshop plugin.
This was my issue in Photoshop itself back in 2003 lol. Had fun with it still in JR high with those tablets. Crazy how they still work today, but tablets made today die off within years or months.
genius editing! love the nuance tip 3:40
well i love you instead lovin oklab now
Great tutorial, except for one thing. I'm using 4.2 and can't fidn the blend mode for my grass materials. Where can I find it because I've serached all over and still can't find it.
I ran into the same issue. As for the shadows--turning them off in the object properties seems to create a similar effect. But dunno where the blending mode disappeared to in 4.2
@@The_Horse-leafs_Cabbage I wish Blender had it addressed in their latest update at least.
For some reason my grass texture is not visible even though all my steps are correct. And yes I am in the shading tab
This was Super helpful. Thanks
By the end of the first chapter, the grass simply breaks into squares on both sides of the surface, do you have any addons or is it a uv map? I just don’t understand why the result is so striking.
??? I can't really picture what you mean. Does the grass turns into squares? If so, it might have something to do with the accumulate field node. You might set something wrong around that time of the video.
@@tawansunflower yes, the grass turns into strange squares that are attached to both sides of the surface, it looks like an error, but I re-checked everything three times and no errors, perhaps the problem is in one of my third-party addons, I can’t find any other reason but I found a way to fix it: in the vector rotate node I changed the first value in center to 0.06 and the squares became more like grass, minus the truth that I can’t use your convenient method with the wind in this case, which is at the end of the video, but for scenes it’s all the same enough. Maybe when blender comes out in 4.2 stable it will come out to do exactly the same in general, it seems to me that this is either a conflict of addons or a bug, because without adding a value to vector rotate, I can’t even change the length of the grass, it’s just an unchangeable bunch of squares
Thank you! Great work! I was waiting for a tutorial like this) Really want to see the part 2! Looks amazing
thanks for arabic sub bro❤
bro you should be a teacher great tutorial❤❤
excellent tutorials and shaders. thank you! I hope someday there will be a tutorial on how to make the animated sky, stars and clouds :v
Metaballs
thannks for the tutorial!!
Whoever wants to make work on cycles just add a "set hair curve profile" set the radios to .03 , shape to .05 , change the curve back to strand in the render settings and you got it!
in chapter 2 you didn't mention how to loop the grass, is there a simple way to do that?
Hmm. I can explain that in part 2 👍
@@tawansunflower ah alrighty, whens that planned?
It should be uploaded within next week, but for now you can take a look at this video first. It's tutorial on how to loop noise textures 👍 ruclips.net/video/YVTLcJLWEJA/видео.htmlsi=ZT712miBK3rxbVDV
@@tawansunflower thank you 💙
@@tawansunflower hey i`ve tried to follow this tutorial in many ways, spend all day trying other set ups and dosen`t worked pleaaase how we can loop the animation
i wish i had watched it earlier. i was having the same problem.
Could you make a tutorial on how you did the environment materials for the scene at the end? It looks so good
Omg so good quality ! We want more of this high quality blender tutorials
I absolutely love this tutorial and got great results following this , this got me out of the limbo is was stuck on a project . thank you so much cant wait to get more tutorials from u one question though how would u make this animation into a loop??
Wow! congrats for figuring all this out including implementation in blender. I hope this stuff will be mainstream very soon!
its me again, is it possible to make hills here?
This video is a lifesaver
why does my hair curves, at the same settings as yours, look different? right after you adding the generate hair curves node, the plane is almost populated, while mine isnt? also, the height of the default setting grass is so tall for me? any thoughts? tyia
okay ive tinkered with the Generate Hair Curve's inner nodes' Divide and Multiply to get the same results as yours. Thanks!
I love it! It looks so good in the eevee render engine. Do you know if theres a way to get that shade-less look to work in cycles? The same normal trick doesn't seem to function the same in cycles.
Yo wait yeah, that's actually insane. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I didn't even know I got this a problem till now 😂. Great video as always! (Also your painting avility is crazy wough)
0:46 bro clean your monitor edit- nice vid though, colors have always been a pain and this helps alot
Thank you! XD yeah I will clean my monitor.
how curvature?
It's a custom node in Goo Engine (a custom version of Blender)
@@tawansunflower ahh I get it, guess I got no choice but to install that version, but anyway this shader is working great even in my current blender version, thanks a bunch man!!!
So satisfied the result! Thank you so much for this. Definitely subscribing.
My favourite Blender ytuber has the power of anime and god on his side
Don't get me wrong, this is a very good tutorial, but sometimes I wish that these videos actually explained WHY you're doing what you're doing. Such as the Geometry Nodes and the Shader parts. It'd be good to understand why you're specifically connecting those nodes together, so we actually learn how to play with the nodes and not just how to mimic a video.
I heard about Oklab a while ago, but like you, couldn't find a good colour picker to actually use it. Thanks a lot for making the website thingy
And if u are not able to find the "shader to RGB" node then you are probably in cycles renderer, use evee for that.
