Hi Katy, Last year was my first year teaching math, chemistry and engineering in a public school. I’ve been doing other teaching and training about 90% of my career since I started tutoring at Foothill College in 1988. You’re an inspiration to me. Never doubt that a new person can bring great things to a profession! This year I introduced “math meetings,” in which all our math (and eventually science) teachers got together weekly to share, compare, complain and coach each other. This was super helpful for me, but even our Ph.D. senior teacher said he learned a lot from it. One way you really encourage me is just by producing content on your channel. I definitely want to do that too. Way to go!!

Very great video. Love your passion and enthusiasm. I am a principal at a high school and yea I can tell that I have the least number of teachers comparing to previous years. Wish I can have some teachers like you in my school; maybe come and spend a vacation here on an island in Micronesia. I hope someone can read this and at least to think about it. I am recruiting for teachers now; Science, Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Mechanic, Carpentry, Agriculture, Food & Nutrition, Sewing, Child Development.

I’ve been teaching for 12 years, but teaching Algebra and Geometry to GT 8th graders so the course is a year long! I just transitioned to HS this year, and the course is semester long! I am freaking out with how to condense such an important course in half!! Is there any advice or resources you are able to share? I use “all things algebra” for algebra and geometry which I love, but finding it difficult to pick and chose what is important when I feel like ALL of it is IMPORTANT if you know what I mean!! Thanks so much! Any advice, tips, resources would be greatly appreciated. Hope you had an amazing first year and are looking back now and are rockin it! I feel like a first year teacher this year!!!! 😂

Great content! I am so excited to teach Spanish! I spent the better part of 5 years traveling around Latin America, and I became fluent in Spanish at 25 years of age. I am currently enrolled in an alternative teaching program to teach Spanish, but as I will be around 8 months to get into the classroom, I've decided to get my CDL. A company will be paying for my training and I will be creating videos during the process and sharing as much as I can for everyone else out there interested in driving! I begin on the 31st. I would like to teach now, but I have not been able to find any districts that will allow me to teach without a license. For reference, I'm in Ohio! Take care.
