Vaseline works great on my beard. Mines about 7 inches long at its lowest point and softens right up with vaseline. It's like beard balm with one ingredient.

Had a beard for the last 25 or so years. In the early days there weren’t that many and popular products too use so I never use any of that. Tried once and didn’t like it at all. 15 years ago I bought two boar bristle brushes one at home and one at work, that I used for a couple of weeks. Now they collects dust. Now I just use my hands. My beard is wavy as hell, but I couldn’t be bothered, I made it my own instead.
