Watercolor Doodling and Sharing Some New Products, Oct.2024
Просмотров 193Месяц назад
Originally, this video was filmed around October 19th, but because I got kind of weepy when talking about having to cancel my pumpkin festival booth, I decided not to share it. So I deleted the very beginning, and voila, here it is! 😀😃🙂🙃 This video is about sharing some new products I found, and how I like to doodle over the splotches of watercolor paint. Simple and fun! Thanks for watching! Yo...

This is a short video on doodling with black markers and a calligraphy pen over splashes of watercolor paints. The paper is 140lb, cold-pressed, watercolor paper. The watercolors are Schpirerr Farben. Brushes were simple watercolor brushes from Hobby Lobby. Nothing fancy. :-) Hope you enjoyed the whimsical fun and relaxing qualities of doodling, and can incorporate it into your own work.

Lisa, your creations are so beautiful! Thank you for being such a great inspiration to so many of us. I love your unique style in your pottery as well as in your conversational tutorial videos. You are a joy to glaze with and create with. I hope everything is going wellwith your health as well as for your son Christopher. I continue to pray for you. I’ll be watching for your next video whenever you happen to make one. Have a wonderful merry Christmas. I pray God’s blessings on you and your family.
Your booth is beautiful!!!! How did your show go for you?
@peggyjones8318 Thank you!!! ❤️ It was sloooooow. 😞 I think these buyers were in the mood to buy sparkly glamorous things. I'm not that glamorous! 😀😃🙃😊
@@WildAcornsArtStudio I'm sorry to hear that but not surprised. Some artist friends just did a show at a country club and they didn't sell either. The ladies came to socialize and drink with friends. The only things that sold were chocolate covered pretzels and food items for gifts. We have to remember that some shows are not a match for our work. I'm soooooo glad that you are not glamorous! You are an amazing artist, funny, humble, loving and a caring person. PS: I made a mitten with scrap clay based on your inspiration and my memory from your video......I made it upside down! Tee hee. 😂
@peggyjones8318 Awww, thank you for the kind words! And yes, I totally agree that not all shows are a match for what we sell. I kind of knew this, because I have done this show before, but sales were lower than last year. I guess if I do it next year, I have to come up with something different. 😀 🤔 Oh well. 😀 Love that you made some mittens! Do you like how they turned out? I think Mittens, in themselves, emit warm fuzzy emotions and memories of cold winters playing in the snow. I love them. I'm pretty happy with how mine turned out, but I can't wait to make more.
Lisa, I feel for your disappointment at that show. But do not try to fit your unique and special self into that kind of a “box “! Don’t waste your time and efforts on a show that doesn’t fit your needs or show off your speciality. Be patient and wait for the Opportunities that God brings your way that showcase the special talents and skills he’s given you. You’re in my prayers.
42:59 is another great reason to bisque, then glaze. Love your designs!

I’m 2 months behind and trying to catch up with your videos so that I can be up-to-date. I appreciate you, and I appreciate all the information you give us. I’m glazing plates today with the Amoco snow and wow, I’m so glad you told me about oolytes! I haven’t used this glaze in a while, and I’m guessing it forms more 0OLYTES, as time goes on. But I think I got them all. Thanks to you! I still have more glazing to do tonight so I will be moving onto your next video. I’m praying for your hands and that you’ll be able to continue with your Pottery.
@suzannea8180 Thank you SO much!! 😊 Good luck glazing your plates. My goal is to make more plates and platters in 2025 with dipping cups. Buyers seem to always love anything for parties. 😀
How adorable. I haven’t been getting your posts!! Glad I got this one. Looks like I have a lot to catch up on.
@@micheledickey4066 Thanks!!
Just asking a quick question - I did transfers on my bisque and now wonder what type of glaze I could use ( celadon? or just clear, or celadon with mixable clear to not make it so opaque?) Also love all the work you do to help us ( your followers ) along the way. I appreciate all that you do!!!!🌲🌲🌲🌲
@galekrcmarik2043 Hi Gale. No worries! 😀 Any transparent glaze will work. But depending what color the transfers are, if the glaze isn't clear it may cover the transfer. I usually use clear. I tried a blue melatonin, and it was pretty, but it was really hard to see the black transfer underneath. Good luck! 😀
@@WildAcornsArtStudio Thanks for such a quick response. Ohhhh. buy the way I love the red birds I purchased from you a few days ago. I appreciate all of your help.🌲🌲🌲🌲
@galekrcmarik2043 Oh yay! I'm so happy they got there safely! I always worry when I have to mail pottery. The redbirds are one of my favorite items. Thanks for purchasing them!!!!! ❤️
Love the mittens need them here now we have a snow storm, Canada Thankgiving is in oct but we do have the black Friday sale lol. Cant beat the boxed stuffing I use it on porkchops with mushroom soap, I tried a new mash potato recipe well new to me colcannon mashed spuds and fried cabbage mixed together, You will have to change Charlies name to Clifford if he keeps growing
@corryg6403 Hi Corry. Wow, a snow storm! Hope everyone stays safe and warm. I love to watch the snow fall, but not a fan of it on the roads. We have a lot of hills where I live. Darn, you are right. We should have named him Clifford!! Wasn't he the big red dog? 😀 We're thinking of buying him antlers for Christmas, like the dog pulling the Grinches sleigh. Lol.
Dear Lisa Many thanks for your great video. Love your little snowman❤. We here in Switzerland do not really celebrate thanksgiving and I agree with you that christmas is only a commercial business. I just love the time spending with my familly. Wish you all the best😊🎉
@estherhilber545 Thanks Esther. Even though you dont celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope you have many wonderful dinners with family and friends! ❤️ 😀 Qe shouldn't need a holiday to do that. 😀
Hi Lisa, I just love all your videos !! This snowman mitten is so cute , I am sure people will buy them up! I may have to give this a try. Thanks for the great video and hope you have a nice holiday.
@patgalletti6221 Thanks Pat! I hope they do, too! I'm praying the kilns are fixed soon, or I won't have time to fire them before the show. I may have to dust my kiln off and shoo the kitty cats out so I can fire mine up again. 😀
@@WildAcornsArtStudio I am sure your kitties wouldn't mind moving under those circumstances. :) We do what we have to...because the show must go on!! I noticed your purple fish by the kitty's box....I loved the glaze color. Any chance you remember the color you used??
@patgalletti6221 Thanks!!! The purple glaze is a mix of two purple underglazes. I cant remember the exact names. It's been awhile since I made those. 😀
@@WildAcornsArtStudio Thanks. Well,, the color is so pretty and looks great with the bright green...Happy Holidays!!
@@patgalletti6221 Hi Pat. I'm sitting here at my work table, glanced over stuff the fish, and thought, gadzooks!!! The fish is not purple, it's blue!!! 😀😃🙂🙃 Don't ask me why I thought it was purple. Anyhow, it is Amaco's Medium Blue underglaze. 😀
Ann, from Little Street Pottery recommends using nail decorating brushes for a super fine line. I love the mitten.
@@wendymoyle1328 Oh, I didn't even know they made nail decorating brushes. 😀 I'll have to check them out! Thanks! 😊
Lisa, How fun to see your animals. I love your videos. Tip: When you store your applicator thingie try putting the tip down in a cup on a damp paper towel. Thats what I did with my frosting decorator tip to keep it from drying out. I haven't got one yet so I haven't tried it. Good luck.
Hi Lisa. I so love the snowman mitten. I'm sure it will sell quickly. Like you, I love lollies (candy). I buy them for my grandkids and end up eating them myself. I think I'm going to have a go at making the mitten. I have one in the drawer, which I'll use as a template. Have a happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy your turkey. 😊
@@carolynpollack1083 I love those darn things! 😀 I have to pace myself, though. Every time I go through a checkout line, they're always hanging on hooks there to lure us sugar addicted people. 😀 Good luck with the mitten. Remember, if you're making two to hang together, keep them a wee bit smaller.
Lisa, I love the mittens, Your snowman is delightful. It should sell well.
Thank you! I hope so. ❤ 😊
Wondering about your moldy glaze problem. Now, I'm really only at the hand building carving side of things (no kiln), so I don't know if this suggestion could have ramifications in the firing stage. I'd be curious if you know, tho. To prevent mold in my handmade watercolors, I'll mix in some borax melted in water into my watercolor base, then divide it out and mix with pigments. It's anti mold, antifungal, etc, through how it increases ph, but it doesn't have an intense odor like bleach does (or clove oil, another common recommendation), which is why I like it. And it lasts -- it's in the paint forever so it's going to keep working. The toxicity to people/pets is also much lower. But yeah, I don't know if the properties of borax could impact the glazing negatively. It absolutely has some sort of impact because it's used as an addictive: "In ceramics, borax has been used to improve the fit of earthenware or greenware glazes. Additionally, when mixed with oxides, borax image produces bright colors. For glazes and enamels, the boric oxide is unique in that it acts simultaneously as a glass former, as a flux, and as a viscosity stabilizer that prevents the glaze from running too much while it is being fired. Perhaps most important of all, boric oxide reduces the thermal expansion of the glaze so that it can be matched to the expansion of the underlying ceramic or metallic body. At the same time, it improves aqueous and chemical durability while adding to the brilliance of the glaze." It all sounds good, but if you're trying to get certain looks (like exaggerated drips) it might be counterintuitive. Thought I'd mention it tho, just in case. You shared a lovely project I got to learn from, and I hate the idea of you suffering from mold.
I love the mitten!

@loreliemiller628 Oh, are there a lot of ads? Hmmm... I'll have to take a look at that. I don't think I can change it much. RUclips now decides where the ads go, and how many based on the length of the video. Guess they feel the need to make more money. 🤔
I make molds from polymer clay if I don’t want shrinkage, and from ordinary stoneware clay if I do want the shrinkage. So you can get a variety of sizes from one original object! Pretty fun stuff.
