Love being outside with the birds singing, I have never smeared my under glaze thanks to you, Woohoo almost 5 k I think I started watching you around 100, I was looking for someone that did under glazing and I think you were the only one I found at that time.
Thanks so much!! ❤️ You're right, not many people used to use underglazes, but it is getting more popular. It takes so much more time, I think a lot of potters find it too time-consuming. Glad you're not smearing your underglazes! 😀
Hi. Another entertaining video. I mainly use underglaze, so I find your videos very informative. I like the way the plates from the last video turned out as well. It was okay videoing outside where you were. You have to be where you're comfortable. Bring on the next one. 🙂
Loved spending part of the afternoon with you! I love underglaze, sometimes I don’t put a clear over it. I just leave that soft matte look, esp my angels. Anxious to see the gnome video!
Aw! I love the little pond plates! I think your rose blossom plates are so cute and whimsical! It’s always a treat to see a new video appear on your RUclips! Thank you. Oh, and, I love that you’re outside 🐝🏡🦋
I think outside went really well, maybe see if you can get the camera closer to what you are painting. But, I also want to see your face, I WANT IT ALL! lol. I think a garden tour would be fun. love your videos, thank you.
I enjoy your very relaxing videos and adore your free style designs. I’ve learned a lot from listening to your stream of consciousness conversations. Would love to see your gardens. Keep on vlogging wherever you are! You’re delightful, Gretchen/California
I enjoy seeing you outside. It's nice to have a change of pace and great if you are enjoying working in a different environment. Thank you for sharing your videos.
@@lesliepease3988 Thanks for watching! 😀 Zinc can alter the colors of underglazes, so that's why I use zinc-free clear. Underglazes do need a clear glaze over them to be food safe.
I just watched you for the first time. I really want to get into painting with underglaze more. (I used to be pretty good at watercolor painting before I got into ceramics.) I am very curious about your using a bead tray. Underglaze is so expensive, so I am cautiously interested in the bead tray. Don’t the underglazes dry out completely fairly quickly? I wouldn’t be using them every day or even every week. I am VERY slow to produce pieces: one plate here, one mug there, one little gnome or something else. Can you elaborate? I am very inspired by your video.
Hello, and thank you for watching!!! 😀 ❤️ If you're not using them much. I would suggest maybe buying the small 4oz jars of underglaze, and trying those first. Personally, I like them to dry out a little bit so the pigment is more concentrated and you can use them more like watercolors. I fire to cone 5, and underglazes have a higher tendency of the colors burning out if the underglaze is watery. Low-fire firings have no issue with the colors burning out, so it doesn't matter really how you apply them. I only use mine maybe once a month now that I'm firing more of my stuff at the rec center where I teach, and they don't dry out very much. I usually give them a spritz of water before I shut the lid, though. 😀
You make such a lovely work! Love watching you and listening when I make my own pottery! If you like I do my own kilnopenings, if you wanna watch! I have 101 people watching, so you will be 102 then!

Thank you for sharing. I found your video very fun with all your thoughts. Your glazes are zinc free... are they food-safe?
