    I have recently found yours podcast and really have enjoyed it. This summer my Son and I gained access to a remote area of Crooked Creek just south of Harrison Arkansas. We have been wade fishing and kayak fishing with really good success. I'm going to try to attach a couple of pictures maybe you can tell me if a particular fish caught was in Neosho Bass. Thank you guys and keep up the good work. I will be sharing your podcast for sure. 3:26

    Ive found afew big buck beds that will be either between two boulders up high or against a big boulder that was down lower and especially if there's an overhanging bush thar they prefer to bed fairly consistently in the mountains south of you.

    Loved this series. I do have a question. I fish a few non-boatable small rivers and creeks in Southern MO. They are not Neosho bass in them, I believe they are still just dolomieu. However, they tend to be more slender, not as dark, and smaller than northern smallmouths. They also will not enter lakes that the streams are attached to, but the lakes here are probably a lot warmer than up north. My question is, if there is not enough genetic variation to be a different species, should these smaller stream smallies still have an unofficial nickname?

    That guy that mentioned the buffalo knows what's up. They have to be one of the coolest fish ever. They have cranial nueromasts on their heads that connects to their lateral line system running down their body that allows them to detect changes in pressure and movement who knows what else. They don't spawn every year, can get to be monstrous sizes, and they fight real good on medium light rods. They are awesome fish, all three species of buffalo.

    It was the american chestnut that got me first. And really the two are identical in terms of their impact on both wildlife and our lives, but its that one tree could provide so many of the necessities of life. The american chestnut grew tall and straight over 100 ft and over 10 feet wide, with wood thats about as rot resistant as wood comes, making it the ideal timber tree. Ive read stories from the late 1800s of people living in cities who would take a vacation to the country side to collect chestnuts, and theyd make more money selling those chestnuts than they would from working that week. Also 1 in 3 trees was an american chestnut in the appalachian forests, it just blows me away that a forest tree could provide as much food if not more than crops we grow ourselves. Its hard to imagine that a forest as large as the forests of the eastern us could change so rapidly, in under a century, when castanea had been the dominant species for thousands of years, and theyve been around for millions.

  • @jesseandersen4055
    @jesseandersen4055 Месяц назад

    Ive seen estimates of 1200 chestnuts or chinquipins coming off of young allegheny chinquipins, extrapolate that to a mature american chestnut, giving 3x the amount of nuts per bur, im really not qualified to guess but suffice it say many thousands of nuts per tree. Then imagine having 4 billion trees. Even if only half produced that is literally trillions of nuts to go around. When you think about it its a mriacle wildlife even survived the extinction of the american chestnut.
