I heard about it through amazon before I bought the unit... but given that I always use a wired connection, not wifi, I proceeded anyway. Soon find out whether it ends up being workable or not in the future.

Omg thanks for the video. I was trouble shooting the last 2 days.But I don't think that Satechi care. After your video, I searched a little bit more. It seems that even the older version had the problem and the variant without the ssd slot. On the German amazon site, I found a question from 2009 with the same problem. You can buy these hub still everywhere. So it don't seems that Satechi is doing something. If you look on their help site, they just recommend to switch to 2.4ghz. So it don't seems that it is a just a bad batch.

I have prove 2 different USB HUBs in Mac mini M2 and same results and similar with Wifi issue. Both Hubs are USB C 3.2 with 4 USB up to 10Gbps. One from Aliexpress, cheap one, so I think was device problem. The second is Acer hub with 4 usb (3xUSB-A + 1xUSB-C) each one up to 10Gbps. Any hub has extra power to plug. What do you suggest? The problem is that 5GHz connection is missing, Mac mini only recognizes 2.4 GHz connection and it is much slower than you got a "no internet connection" error

I’ve run into the same issue. Someone in the Amazon reviews suggested using a hub, instead of connecting it directly to the Mac (Studio M1 Max, in my case) I tried that. I do get better WiFi speeds, buuuuuttttttttt……… My NVMe speed went from 900+ to a pitiful 30/35 Mbps…… Which is totally unusable/unacceptable/worthless… I might try if I can get a wired connection, but I don’t think my wife wants to have tripwires around the house, from my studio room to the living room…..🤓

I ran into it too! I played through the same thing and experienced the same thing!

So dumb you have to do every game individually, they should add a migrate all function.

Interesting. I had no end of problems connecting to Wi-Fi on the new MacMini I bought together with the Satechi Hub. I attributed it to the fact that our overall internet speed hardwired is a modest 55mbps and my home office is away from the house and reliant on Wi-Fi. As a solution I fitted some new extenders and whilst my test is not as sophisticated as the one here, I did note that my HP laptop runs at twice the speed of my Mac when using Wi-Fi in the same location. I am about to try the Mac Mini without the Satechi hub and see how I get on.

Thanks for highlighting the WIFI issue. Does this apply for Satechi Mac Mini Hub without NVME.M2 SSD slot ?

Would be great if you could run a disk speed test on the NVME drive and report the results!

Did they replace the unit and did it fix the wifi?

Thanks for making this video! I encountered the same issue and findings when using it with a Mac Studio M1. Not only is the bandwidth reduced, a compromise I might have tolerated, but the hub also causes packet loss, resulting in unreliable network services.

hmmm.. same here, the instant i connect the box, it loses the 5Ghz wifi, it tries to switch over to the 2.4Ghz albeit at a much lower speed and but struggles and keeps dropping packets ... tried different ports but not much difference...

The same problem here with my Mac Mini M2 Pro. Too bad. I will send the hub back as the suggested solutions don't work for me either.

I tried wrapping the cable with aluminium and it did make it a drop better. But you don’t buy a 100 dollar box to wrap it with aluminium and still don’t have full speed.

I'm seeing the exact same behavior on mine with an M1 Max Mac Studio. Perhaps it's not properly grounded and it causes interference with the wifi signal, or there's to enough clearance between the hub and the mini/studio, I believe the antennas are located in the bottom of both devices. I have sent an email to Satechi to see if they have anything to comment.

Well it's cool and all but I wanted a controller based htpc and I made an htpc console from my laptop. Using am xbox one controller, I can access everything from kodi. But this is cool for those that want a mouse point and click htpc setup. Great job man, u got a sub

Hi thx for info. But I'm not to technical. I have many steam games on old win 10 hdd and want to put each game into a new ssd. How to do that? Then I guess I put USB into win 11. so how do I play the games that are in external ssd on new laptop win 11?

Best explanation on RUclips to date. So many others skipped the crucial aspect of executing software on the PC first to get to just the BIN file. From other videos, I almost loaded the full downloaded file across to the SD card. You must only load the BIN file to the top level of SD card. Subscribing....

The trouble is you get errors like ''the folder must be empty'' and Move install folder" option, and it wont also show me the option to to install the game to a different location! Sorry not simple at all.

Thank you for explaining every detail of updating firmware. I watched 2 other videos that did not cover this issue completely. Thanks to you I successfully updated my firmware.

When I did it a notification came up that said folder must be empty

I want to move a game or install it in a different folder but in the same drive (C:/Games) i already added it as a new library folder but it wont show me the "Move install folder" option, and it wont also show me the option to to install the game to a different location
