The Dumbest fish in the world
Why do they do this!
Dumbest, hardest! One of. Where they swim to and back too is unreal.
Why they hit a bare hook with no bait or scent baffles me.
Sockeye can find a needle in a hey stack but then, they hit a bare hook that shakes.
If you want to fill a freezer this is the place.

    Our TR-1 we had installed 2009 up and quit. I think the circuit board went bad. Shops that did work on the TR-1 gone or don't work on them anymore. The shop I had install the TR-1 has new owner they said they would diagnose problem but no parts. Wanted $185 an hour to tell me what part I need. People told me to get the Terronova but we fish sometimes at places for days and I would have to have access to electricity. Plus batteries added to the boat for more weight. I also had someone tell me he wanted to change to Lithium Batteries in his boat and insurance agent told him his homeowners insurance would go up. I guess some insurances see that as a hazard if over heats and causes a fire in the boat parked by the house. First I ever heard anything like that. Also Lithium Batteries are real expensive. We went to Steven's Marine in Tigard and they installed the Garmin Reactor 40 Kicker on our Mercury Prokicker 9.9 with GHC 50 for $3,650. Calibrated on the water. Seems to work fine. I think I prefer the TR-1 though. We have two Helix G4N units. Helix 12 Si G4N on dash, Helix 10 Di G4N back of boat. I also have the Mega Live so had to buy the Eithernet Hub and cables to connect all. If just two units just a Eithernet cable and adapters on each unit would of been all I needed. I use the dash unit for Sonar and Map, back unit is for Mega Live. I shared all my Helix 12 Si functions to the Helix 10 Di and it displays Si, Di, Sonar and waypoints. Can't share map card with Helix. I think the Mega Live would be awesome using down mode jigging for Kokanee.

    If you want to get around the having to troll slow thing, switch to a green/glow hotspot and a Michael Bait tied 22" behind the hotspot. Put a 2/0 siwash on the Michael Bait. Run at least 2 of them and it helps to stack "dummy" hotspots. You can't fish just one - that doesn't seem to get the fish to bite. Need at least pair of them in the water. Don't ask me why. Troll as fast as you want too. Sockeye will hit the Michael Bait and the 2/0 just impales them up through the head. Done deal. I learned this from an old-time commercial sockeye fisherman. It works - used it Lake Washington where everyone fishes bare hooks and has to troll slow. It worked exceptionally well. Way to get your lovely ladies on to the fish! They will remember this forever.

    The white stuff is called albumin, it’s a protein. It’s released from the muscle fiber when it’s heated up too fast. Other than looking funky it has no real bearing on the flavor. To minimize albumin release, start at the lowest temp your smoker will go to and slowly raise the temp to 125-145. When I’m smoking salmon invariably this happens, I just brush the filet with a silicon brush and flick the albumin off and let it keep smoking. If you’re semi diligent about it, you’ll have a great looking filet. Edit: great job on the video, you broke down the process about as well as can be done. I spent a bit of time reading figuring out how to smoke salmon and what seemed like a mystical process to me was really just what you showed. Solid process!

    • @TravisInCanada1
      @TravisInCanada1 2 месяца назад

      I read that it is not the result of how fast you are heating but just by reaching a certain temp it begins to push out of the muscle fibers. Which while there are methods to reduce it by brining would make it unavoidable. Regardless it is harmless to consume and is just visually un appealing. "That white gunk seeping from your salmon is called albumin. It's a protein-not fat-that pushes to the surface of the fish when you heat it. "Once this protein reaches temperatures between 140 and 150 degrees, its moisture is squeezed out, and it congeals and turns white," -America's Test Kitchen."
