My brain works faster than my hands too and that’s how we end up shopping for all the supplies and not using them lol 😂 never enough time either.

You can needle felt the eyes using the fiberfill but I’m not sure you can paint the fiberfill. Maybe experimenting with fabric medium otherwise the paint will just soak into the fiber fill. Let me know how it goes.

You will be surprised how fast you gain talent. I’m glad you are enjoying your new hobby. I love to learn new things too.

Yes sometimes I use wool and needle felt the eyebrows too. It just depends on what look you are going for. 😊

It won’t really feel soft anymore. You could try experimenting on a scrap wool project first before you try it on the bee.

@Leightfootfelts on the eyes... When you said "I tried painting but it soaks through" I though you were referring to the eyes.. Lol, I have a 6y/o and 1½, I only get to see/hear like ⅛ of things I'm trying to watch. Lol But yeah, as for if I want to paint larger areas, I use mod podge 1st... But small spots, I've used the clear nail polish. Altho it soaks in a little, it kinda fills in the pores a little so the paint don't soak through.. Hope that helps, if you remember, let me know how it works out if you try it

I agree porcelain eyes are beautiful but it’s hard to needle felt around glass, ceramic, and beads because the needle breaks and scratches the eyes. The fabric allows for the needle to go through. Lots of options for personal wishes though. Thank you for the suggestion.

Great thanks so much! I need to video one more hairstyle and then I will be showing the hands. For feet I will be showing a different jointing technique. I will be using moving forward in making my dolls and I will be using an air dry clay. May be a while for that video but hands are next. Thanks!!

That’s great! the smooth roving you have would be great for wet felting a garment. The smoothness should feel nice against the skin. I’m not an expert on the wool but a phone call to living felt can help you troubleshoot what you already have also.

Oh that sounds so fun! I wish I were quicker. I started the eyes this week and don’t like them felted. I will post the video but will probably redo them with the painted fabric. Oh well. I bet the ladies loved their look alikes.

Lol yes I have a very nasally accent. It’s terrible though because if I spend ten minutes with someone I start to adopt their accent too. Haha after a week in Alberta I was sounding more Canadian. At least to me. Beautiful country!

The one doll has a needle felted body, one is crocheted, and one is sewn panels. They all are popsicle heads on sticks if that makes sense and then just start wrapping the wire to create a needle felted body like a giant caterpillar. If you are using a fabric body, just stuff the half torso inside the fabric body and stuff with filling. Then sew around the neckline. Hope that all makes sense and you can watch the link above. 👌

That’s great! Yes I think finding that balance of felting the life out of something versus leaving the air in to sculpt and firm the surface layer only was a tough one to learn, but makes all the difference. So glad the videos could help.
