Hi, I’m Sam. I’m a queer trans man from London. I’m a fraud investigator but lately I’ve been feeling called to share my experiences here. The past few years have also been a ride for me medically, from a slipped disc to fibromyalgia, to being diagnosed with an aneurysm.
Between being trans and facing these medical issues, I’ve really been through it and it’s really put life into perspective. I hope sharing this can bring a bit of ease to someone else, in what can otherwise often feel like a lonely situation.

How Dysphoria Changes On Testosterone
Hello everyone! For trans people, dysphoria shifting from one body part to another, especially during medical transition, is not uncommon. It can be a bit unsettling and honestly just damn annoying so it’s important you know how to cope with it. I talk a bit about why it’s all happening as well as what I do to deal with my dysphoria moving around.
Have you had this happen to you? Have you found any great ways to cope?

Cervical Screenings for FTM Trans Men
Просмотров 2852 года назад
Hello everyone! I recently had my cervical screening done. For many trans masc people, it can be super daunting so I wanted to speak really openly about why we get them and what it’s actually like. I found it was nowhere near as bad as I anticipated. Also, I don’t explicitly mention it in the video, but this does of course only apply to those with a cervix. I think people who have had certain b...

Doubts Before Starting Testosterone
Then shut up and don't do it.
This injection need take for life time or what?
Hey! As it stands, yes! You can stop taking them but some changes may reverse and for those that have had a full hysto, it would be dangerous as they wouldn't be producing any of their own hormones.
I have numerous serious conditions and generally try to work through them but I get my employers bullying me forcing me to take time off sick. Then if you take time off sick you get bullied again because you're off sick. I have a new approach which is to threaten ACAS legal action, early and often, and do pretty much whatever else I can do to make things hard for the boss.
I have top surgery tomorrow and I'm really nervous. Feels so surreal really. Thank you for your tips bro!
Eeeh mate, move to Europe! It's sickening hearing how people in the UK cannot afford to stay home. In Belgium, we have one month paid by the employer and the rest is social security (60% of your salary) with a limit.
Planning on going to Korea but one thing I'm worrying about is getting my T shots through security, like would it be flagged up or anything because if so, what do I say?
So I haven't gone on my trip yet, but my Endo gave me a signed paper saying I NEED this medication on me at all times due to a condition I have and also said she approves it and says if they have issue to call her and all
if you have the prescription on you (it's usually on a paper you get or the medication itself) just bring it w/ ur checked bag thru security. Since T is not banned in Korea they will not do anything abt it. You might get a snarky agent but usually they just are not paid enough to care LMAO.
do you know smanatha berry
Haha no, who is it?
Uk bottom surgary price ?
Bottom surgery prices vary wildly as there are so many different surgery options you can get so it's hard to give a rough estimate at all. It's best to reach out to the clinics or maybe have a look in Reddit forums.
Thats disgusting, u feckingfrankenstein
The last time I was in an airport, my binder clasps got flagged by the scanner. The only pat down my legs, oddly enough. I did get new ones without fastenings though, I'm planning to pack this time as well. I'm flying on Monday.
Ahh that sort of makes sense! I hope you had a good trip!
What was your testosterone values on sustanon and on nebido? It could help me a lot 😊 thanks
Your hairline looks great for being that far on T, what do you use to suppress your DHT levels (which can make you lose hair)?
Haha thanks, honestly it's nowhere near like that anymore sadly. I'm not doing anything to block my DHT levels as I'm still holding out hope for a beard lol. But I do use a variety of products to help with hair growth and strength.
From an outsiders perspective you sound very self obsessed and also stuck inside your own head. The overwhelming majority of people around you will care much more about what they are going to have for lunch than your's or anyone elses back story. We have a near unlimited number of descriptive attributes to our identity of which gender identity is but one and should be mentioned when relevent. We can process only a finite amount of information in a day and a fraction of that capacity is spent on conscious thoughts. Getting into a recursive thought loop of worry will just exhaust your mind.
It's not self obssessed, so much as a deep consideration around safety. I'd love not to give a crap, but unfortunately the trans people being attacked and murdered for being themselves do make me have to consider how open I am about it. It's tough having your mere existence being considered controversial or political and I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to protect oneself from that. It's not something that plagues me all the time but merely a needed consideration. It's been many years since that video and I go a lot more with the flow of things now.
Hi Sam Thanks for sharing your experience I’m really struggling with making the decision to go into work or not. My co workers telling me if you are sick then stay off work, but as you say when you have a chronic disease and a disability it’s hard to know if one day will sort one out or if it’s going to take longer to recover from. It’s all very perplexing I usually tell myself if I need to lie down after having a shower in the morning then I don’t go work but this year I’ve been able to do that fine so I need a new strategy 😊 Wish you a happy and healthy 2024 Looking forwards to watching more of your vlogs soon Ali
Hi Ali! Thanks for sharing! It is definitely a tough balance to strike, especially when your baseline moves and your condition is so varied and changable. It can be hard establishing a new baseline altogether like the shower for yourself. I try to ask myself 'will this make me feel worse' when considering if work is the right idea and go from there.
Trt is for old men and young men that was born with generic disorders like kalman syndrome and Klinefelter syndrome
That too :) But it's been used for trans masculine people for quite a while, very successfully too.
Trt is trash 🗑️ u made a big mistake to go on Trt no more sperm production result u can have baby in the future 😂😂😂
You're not making any sense there mate. HRT has been the best thing for me but I appreciate your comments boosting the algorithm for me ;)
They are going to tyerd to see ftm around hare
Hey! What do you mean?
im a male to female patient you can have my "balls" i dont want them
Haha if only it worked that way eh?
Incredible video!
Thanks!
Show us that monkey Sam
Monkey?
I’m leaving in two weeks for top surgery so it’s time for me to really take all these videos I used to dream about needing seriously :)
Ahh congrats and good luck!! Hope all goes well :)
Good looking brother 🤙😊 keep it up
Thanks!
Hi my name is Simon I live in but I wanted to change my Polish name how do I do dat
Hi Simon! I talk a bit about it in the videos, there's a whole playlist. It may have changed since then but essentially you need a lawyer (you'll have to call around Polish ones in your area/UK) as you'll have to 'sue' your parents. You have to have all the assessments done in Poland and have a court case. I won't lie, it's a lot to go through but definitely worth it.
Im male and on this for hypogonadism but wanted to ask have you ever had severe coughing after taking this happend to me today and feel like im dying
I don't think I have ever heard of that happening to anybody (I am only aware of it's usage in the trans community though). Sounds like you've most likely just caught a cold with bad timing or perhaps if its the first time you're taking it, you've developed a reaction.
@@TheSamThatIAm actually found out it's called pume because neibido comes in castor oil sometimes it can go back into the bloodstream or something like that and causes uncontrollable coughing it only lasts a short while but feels horrible but anyone taking this can get it from time to time
Oh interesting, thanks for letting me know. You learn something new every day eh?
@@TheSamThatIAm yeah!
I tried CBD shortly after starting T and was able to wean myself (slowly) off the large amounts of oxycontin I had to take for my muscle, joint and neuropathic pain. Unfortunately, after six months CBD was less effective. I wish I'd known in advance. Thank you for your testimonial.
Hey! Thanks for sharing but sorry that you found it got less effective. I find that with a lot of meds, whether natural or not so try and not use anything daily where I can help it (although these days I need my meds every day).
I got the date for my surgery this week and I've just been panicking and doubting everything and it's so reassuring to know I'm not alone with this anxiety ❤
Ahh congrats and good luck with surgery if it hasn't already happened!
This makes me feel so seen 😭
Gender diagnosis letter and what was that first one you would always carry?
My deed poll that shows my change of name :)
Interesting channel, *that* is 4 sure. U looked really good in those IMO, BTW.
Thank you!
I've been on Nebido for 6ish years; my dosing period was 12 weeks, then 13, then 14, then 16, and now 20 weeks - all because my levels were too high at times. At least I am cost effective. 😂 Body adapts over time, leading to an increased free testosterone levels. Luckily our endocrinologists know what to do, and when, and how. Overall, I am pretty happy with Nebido (and having less needle pokes), and I wish you all great experiences as well! 🍀
Thanks for sharing your experience Lazar! I'm currently on 15 weeks and I think my levels are still a tiny bit high. My body just looooves that Testosterone, wish it wanted to give me a beard with that haha
What T do you take?
Hey! I take Nebido now but I used to be on Sustanon :)
Is it compulsory to pay national insurance in order to recieve SSP??
Hey! I am not sure. You get SSP through your employer so I guess you'd always be paying NI in that case.
Can i change my name and gender male to female i live in uk but I'm not British
Hey! It depends on the context and where you are a citizen. I had to change my Polish birth certificate to even change my passport.
@@TheSamThatIAm how did you do that? My passport is polish how can i change my gender and name on it?
It's quite a process. I have a playlist on my channel on my Polish name change that goes through everything I went through. But essentially you need lawyers, an assessment in Poland, a court case and then lots of admin bits inbetween.
I moved to London 5 months ago and I saw people where these badges, and I thought that's actually quite brave. It's brave to ask for what you need. I sometimes were in situation that I needed a seat pretty badly and was uncomfortable to ask for it (later I learned to ask). I also was in a situation where I don't actually need a seat that much and happy to give it up in case someone needs it more.
It's definitely tough but I'm glad you've learnt to ask for it'. It does make me very grateful for the people that do pay attention and offer a seat. And ever more joy when I get to do it for someone else on a good day.
This is a really helpful video mate thank you I’ve just moved from the gel form of testosterone to nebido injections im super excited to see my results 😊
Hey Chris! Glad it helped and hope Nebido treats you well ☺️
Hi, I have been getting Sustanon for 2 years but due to supply shortages my doctor wants to put me on Nebido. I'm anxious as Nebido works very differently to Sustanon (frequency of dose, Esters, etc). Will my T levels drop significantly as my body adjusts from the switch to Nebido? I've just started seeing someone who I really like & I'm anxious that having low T levels for a period of time could cause problems... I did ask my doctor, pharmacist and Espen about this & none of them know which is unhelpful...
Hey Ross :) I'm not a doctor so my answers should be taken with a large grain of salt. Your T levels shouldnt really drop from my understand - loads of people do this transition without any problems. You should be put on a loading phase to get your levels correct.
Hi I’m in a similar situation but I live in Ireland. I need to change my name and gender on my birthcert not passport. Did you have to go to Poland at any point or could you do all of it trough the embassy? Cause I really don’t want to go to Poland for this
Hey! As you know, I replied to your DM but for anybody else seeing this, yes I had several unavoidable trips to Poland unfortunately. The embassy could barely do anything.
I'm planning on travelling to Ghana this summer, a country that unfortunately has some pretty intense anti-LGBT laws where LGBT people tend to be imprisoned or killed. I pass very well as I've been on T for a couple years, but I'm still pre-op, pre-name change, etc. I keep going back and forth about how safe I'll be going through that airport, I wanted to ask if you had any more advice specific to my situation?
Hey! Unfortunately I don't think I could give any well informed advice her. Is it possible to at least change your name before you go? Otherwise I think it depends on what the context of the trip is/if there's anybody there you can reach out to about it etc.
Thank you for making this video! I know it was posted so long ago, but I'm about to go for my first appointment to discuss starting T and it's relieved a lot of anxiety.. I was always more "masculine" as a kid but was always told I was a tomboy.. I never even knew of what transgender was. When I really figured it out was when I was 11 and one of my friends asked if I would still like them if they became a boy.. Of course I had said yes and he started to socially transition, knowing his friends would support him.. I learned what transgender meant through him and finally found an explanation for the way I was feeling.. I was shot down a lot because I was accused of copying him, even by my own parents, but I was so jealous that he was able to live the way he wanted where I was still stuck living in the closet.. I suffered through depression for most of my childhood and even into adulthood with medications never seeming to help.. I've gotten through a lot of those feelings on my own, however this is the one thing I feel is still holding me back from true happiness.. I've only been socially out for about a month now, out of fear of rejection from my family and my job, so I also have fears that I'm rushing things along.. I've been holding this back my entire life, so to me I almost want to jump immediately into it because I've suffered with these feelings for 23 years.. Every time I get called "sir" I immediately get a sense of euphoria and it makes me extremely happy when people use my new name.. The idea of T is something I've wanted to do for a while, especially when that friend mentioned earlier started it and his voice dropped.. I wanted that for myself so badly.. Now that I'm so close to the appointment, I'm getting that sense of doubt, like what of everyone was right and I am just copying others and that isn't really what I want.. The thought of living as a woman for the rest of my life is honestly so uncomfortable to me, but every now and then those doubts have been creeping in.. Thank you for telling people like me that we aren't alone in the way we feel and that I'm still valid for feeling the way I do and those anxieties surrounding it are normal :)
Yet men cant actually get testosterone for medical problems caused by low testosterone in the UK yet the trans community get it handed to them like sweets from the shop how is this fair
Hi John! It's actually incredibly hard to get testosterone as a trans person. At the moment, if you can't afford to go privately, you're waiting probably a minimum of around 4 years. You then have to go through a pretty difficult assessment. I would hardly consider that handed out like sweets.
I went privately, still had to wait for about a year and have had to pay around £2000 (so far). Those are some damn expensive sweets if that's the case. The other option would have been to wait for about 6 years.
Im really anxious about this. I would like to travel to africa, Asia etc.. where people are still really uneducated about the whole thing and yk, i really wonder if they are able to see that i have a Packer and its not the real thing. Obviously i would only go there once all my papers Match my appearance but still.
Hey! It can be scary but plenty of people do it. I think so long as you go to a country where there isn't harsh legislation around trans people, you'd be fine. And I honestly wouldn't worry about the packer thing :)
Hi Sam I like your video super nice.
Thank you :D
I'm starting t in a month and didn't think anyone else had doubts and that there's something horribly wrong with me, i'm glad to see that i'm not alone. Your video sure did make my day
Hey! I'm glad I could help and good luck with starting T :D
you are very obviously female
Incredible how something so 'obvious' could be wrong.
Thank you for sharing. My one year on T is creeping up on me soon and I feel so grateful to be where I am but I can not wait to be 5 years on T. It’s really cool to see videos of trans men that have been on T for a long time.
Happy 1 year on T for when the day comes!! I remember not being able to find many videos of people in later stages of T so it’s exactly why I wanted to share ☺️
I have pretty severe insomnia in addition to fibro. At first I used medical marijuana but eventually found the THC to really exacerbate my muscle tightness and pain. Recently I've switched to pure CBD to help me sleep at night and I've found my day-over day pain to be greatly improved. However, I've never really found much real pain relief from just CBD during daytime activities. P.S. Thanks for sharing your story!
Thanks for sharing your experience Sam! It really just goes to show how different things really help different people. I’ve not tried medical cannabis as it’s pretty expensive in the UK but I can’t deny that I often wonder how much it would help me to try.
You remind me of Elijah Wood! Thanks for the video. I don't plan on flying anytime soon, but it has been a fear of mine. Especially imagining my packer showing up on their screen.
Aww thanks haha, can’t say I’ve ever gotten that comparison before! Glad I could help with the video though 😊
I’m really surprised that Poland allowed you to do this. Congratulations. The fact that you were in Poland and did all of this I’m surprised this took so long. I thought it would be easier because it’s citizen but blood.
Hey Jason! It was a short while before things got a lot worse. Not sure how bad the situation is now... And I only travelled to Poland for the essential bits. Tbh the problem wasn't me not living there, it was just how long it takes to do legal paperwork and get things approved etc. It's just terrible admin basically 🥴
So I started with Sustanon 5 months ago but I’ve been thinking of Nebido. For me, my T levels are somewhat low (my peak is at the low end of normal). The week leading up to my sustanon I usually have a depressive episode because of the low T, so I’m assuming nebido will help that? Not sure what’s the best course of action is and I’m still waiting for my follow up at GIC
Hey Caleb :) I'm not a medical professional but sounds like switching ton Nebido could help! As it's early days, they may try to adjust your levels on Sustanon first or may offer you to the option to switch, it really depends on a lot of things. Make sure you remember to bring it up at your GIC appointment. And if your levels are concerning you, send your results to your GIC - they can then adjust your dose (like they have with mine). Not sure they'd offer to change your type of T entirely though
@@TheSamThatIAm Really appreciate the reply, thank you!
You look like Morrissey and it's AWESOME.
Haha I can't say I've ever got that comparison before but I'll take it 😂
