GROWING A GIANT SEQUOIA FROM A SEED KIT
After successfully rooting and repotting several cuttings from a Giant Sequoia over the past few years, trying to get 9 little Sequoia seeds from a seed kit to germinate may prove to be even a more difficult challenge than previously thought!
Let’s take a look at the process that is involved with trying to get a Giant Sequoia seed to germinate and how many if any of the 9 seeds actually did germinate and grow.

Hey Jeffery, great video and unboxing! It's always fun to share KISS memories and memorabilia. I have a video on my channel that goes through my collection of KISS Casablanca cassettes. Take good care and I just subscribed! -Sam
Hey there Sam! Thank you so much for your visit and kind words regarding the video! I definitely try not to miss anything and any video that contains KISS items so I will definitely be heading over to your channel to check out your KISS content and even a sub! Take care Sam and talk soon! ~ Jeff
@@JefferyRusnock That's cool! Thanks Jeffrey and nice to meet you!
This was rather interesting and educational . Those instruction seem a bit simple , but I would probably screw it up some way lol . I never had a green thumb . I tried a couple of time to grow veggies and failed lol . I would love to try to grow a tree . A sequoia would be neat to watch grow ! Very neat process ! Fantastic sharing amigo !! Keep up the great work !!
Hey Jay so good to hear from you my friend! I’m sure you’re just playing down your talent as you seem to be able to handle whatever you put your mind to! I wanted to try for a while now and glad I did, definitely worth giving it a try if you’re interested! Take care my friend thanks for watching commenting! ~ Jeff
Fantastic album !! I love Van Halen !! Bonus tracks are always a plus !! A 19 minute track , wow ! But that ones from the era when you had long 10 min intros lol ! Good looking album ! Fantastic sharing amigo !!
Hey Jay, yes could not pass this one up, like you… I was always a fan with Dave or Sammy didn’t really matter. Both eras of the band put out some great music! Thanks so much for stopping by, always a pleasure! ~ Jeff
This is the album that turned me on to kiss
STFU and play the music!
There’s nothing better than getting acquainted and album binging with a 3 album set with free goodies! Lol Thanks for watching and commenting! ~ Jeff
Hi Jeff, I used to watch your redwood videos a few years ago. Sorry to say it, but I don't watch your music videos, but I was so pleased to see another redwood video from you! Hoping for some updates at some point.
I’m so glad that you are able to get the opportunity to watch this one, it ok with missing the music videos as different strokes for different folks as they say! I do plan on getting some updates in on the growth of this little guy as long as it survives. Hopefully I get to hear back from you when I do to get your feedback! Take care, thanks for watching and commenting! ~ Jeff
Deep love for Redwoods.
They are so beautiful and amazing! Thank you and take care!
My son bought two sequoia seedlings years ago and kept them in a pot for years then planted them in his yard. This is in Kalama WA. They are now about 15 ft tall and probably the most beautiful trees I have ever seen, so perfectly symmetrical. He got divorced so no longer lives there but I plan to go back and check on them from time to time. Give them plenty of room to grow and keep everything else around them cleared away. It is one of my favorite trees.
I’m sorry to hear about your son, I hope he is doing okay. Theses are my favorite trees as well with the Coast Redwoods a very close second. I see the Sequoia trees in Christmas movies and yes they always seem to be picture perfect as far as shape goes. I hope that they continue to grow and thrive for you as the years pass! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your story with me and other Sequoia enthusiasts! Take care my friend! ~ Jeff
You best believe that I would not miss this one Jeff. It is great to see you once again. So you need to get sic viable seeds to grow the best Sequoiadendron giganteum? Also. Is this the first video that you did on this? I hope that I did not miss any. <> Way to go. You surely have a green thumb. I am looking forward to seeing or hearing how it is coming along. Have a super upcoming week J~ Rob/Boston
Hello Robert! It’s always so good and a pleasure to hear from you my friend! Apparently there are so many variables that play into the survival of the Sequoias out in nature which is just heartbreaking for such a majestic giant that in my humble opinion is one of the most beautiful trees ever. Yes the seeds unfortunately play a vital role as it appears that the older they get the less chance they have to be able to survive and germinate. Taking in to consideration all of the wildlife that will probably find the seeds and eat them along with landing into just the right conditions to be able to get started and become the giant trees that we are used to seeing it just staggers the mind. Yes this is the first video I posted on this seed kit and the young sapling, fingers crossed it’s in a very fragile time of its life and I hope that it survives and I can give many more updates on it’s growth progress. As always I appreciate you watching and commenting buddy, hope you have a great week ahead as well! Take care and talk soon! ~ Jeff
Hey Jeff. You've always had the green thumb. You could grow grass on a stone.
@@richardkukowski5732 Hey Rich, I appreciate your kind words and your vote of confidence in my horticultural skills but it would be even more impressive if I could just get a stone to grow on grass …lol! Take care buddy and thank you for checking in! ~ JEFF
Thank you for this video. I hope your new friend will keep growing for centuries now. A year ago I collected several thousand seeds from a sequoia of about 160 years of young age. This spring I succeeded and now have 6 nice little saplings, one already with 6 or 7 tiny branches. I must tell you I got encouragement from your previous sequoia-vid and I do appreciate that.
@@zoltangacsi4614 Thank you so very much, you don’t know how much it means to me to hear that one of my little projects actually made a difference to someone else who has an interest in these beautiful trees! Congratulations on your saplings and I mean that sincerely, I now realize how difficult it is to overcome the odds of getting these seeds to actually germinate and grow, I guess luck plays quite a large role in it as well. Take care and thanks again for all your support and kind words! ~ Jeff
Hi, Jeff. I'm not much of a plant or gardening enthusiast. I do understand people enjoying it though as my mum was into gardening. I did enjoy your video. I doubt it is something we would be able to grow in the UK as we don't always get extreme heat in the summer. Take care.
Hello Bobby, always appreciate hearing from you and hearing about your interests and non interests! A secondary hobby of mine during the summer months that is relaxing and gets me out of the house and away from my first hobby of listening to and collecting music that I enjoy! Taking care of and bringing to life the potentially largest and oldest living thing on earth is something that is very rewarding and enjoyable to watch as it becomes larger and stronger with each passing year. I got to see the Coast Redwoods on a trip to California and absolutely fell in awe over the sheer beauty and massiveness that I had to keep a few around the house in miniature of course to enjoy! Take care, thanks as always for watching and commenting! ~ Jeff
@@JefferyRusnock Thanks Jeff
Hi Bobby, they grow great here in the UK. I see lots of them and have grown many from seed. They even grow up in Scotland!
what a journey ahead! always wanted to try those. your sapling looks great by the way!
Thanks so much, I hope the young seedling and sapling survive for many centuries ahead so future generations can enjoy them both! I appreciate hearing from you my friend, enjoy the rest of your weekend! Take care! ~ Jeff
Wonder if it damages the bottom of the record cover.
I really haven’t noticed anything damage to the jacket but I haven’t put any 180 gram albums in, only original 70’s and 80’s standard pressings!
This is awesome Jeff. Interesting bit of Kisstory, the beginning of Back in the New York Groove, Ace had mentioned that to get the 'Stomping' effect, they stomped on boxes to obtain that sound. I had always wondered for decades how they created that awesome sound. Also, if you get a chance to listen to Ace Frehley solo 78' 8-track through some vintage original 70's pillow clunky headphones it's certainly a brand new listening experience. For the very short time I had my first second hand pair in '89 with my first Lloyd's 8-track player nothing could compare to the sound. I didn't want anything modern afterwards unless it was a pair of those thin metal over-the- ear headphones that went to my Walkman. Your console is awesome! You have everything a person could ever need to kick back and enjoy. 😊 I loved this video. 👍
Thanks so much for the kind words, great to hear from you again! Oh I know very well how much of a difference with vintage headphones, I owned a pair from Radio Shack for the longest time before they broke. I tried replacing them but nothing ever really came close. Interesting insight on the stomping, not sure if I ever heard that story so thanks for sharing that one ! Take care and thanks for watching and commenting! ~ Jeff
Hey Jeff, I had a question, where can you order splicing foil? I've seen pressure pads for sale recently, but haven't found any splicing foil yet. I'm a little leery about the new pressure pads as the reviews I've read about them are a nightmare! Any information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks! 😊
I have gotten splicing tape and pads lately from the 8-track shack (but started to raise the prices) several years ago but my last purchase was just last year at a place on eBay that I used and was very happy with! The sellers name is 8tracks-and-repairs, I got enough pressure pads and sensing foil to repair 100 tapes for 25.00 dollars which to me was outstanding and well worth it! I still have plenty but plan on looking him up again if I need more in the future! It’s 100 pads and 100 strips of foil, I was very happy with the price, seller and how fast it arrived. Take care and good luck locating whatever you need for your repairs my friend! ~ Jeff
Hi Jeffery, I really enjoyed your video. I remember I salvaged my first Lloyd's 8-track player from my grandparents who were going to toss it out. I begged them to let me have it, and reluctantly, they agreed under the condition that I could get it running. That little Lloyd's 8-track player had the bare basics: volume, tone, and balance. The track lights lit up red, 1,2,3, 4 were tiny dots. The Lloyd's 8-track player was made in Taiwan with a "printed in Canada" sticker on back. And it played great! My grandparents only gave me two choices for my first 8-track tape. Alice Cooper- Goes to Hell or Kiss self-titled 1974 (with the song Kissin Time). Naturally I was very curious with both tapes. And keep in mind I'm a preteen in 89'. I had heard of these groups before. I was very taken with the rock group Kiss and chose that. Unfortunately, my grandpa smashed the Alice Cooper 8-track to bits with a hammer. I never got to hear the the full song of "I'm the Coolest". Long story short, that Lloyd's 8-track player lasted me a solid three years and provided me with hours of enjoyment. I later on found a copy of Alice Cooper Goes to Hell on 8-track tape and replaced the one that had originally belonged to my mom. But Kiss remains my favorite. Through my self-taught 8-track cartridge tape repair (and care of the unit), I kept my first set of tapes going 30 years almost until time took it's toll on my tapes. Sadly, my first Lloyd's 8-track player bit the dust in 1991. The capstan bracket broke and the flywheel sheered off causing the belt to fall off. I had a backup Lloyd's home unit given to me by my relatives that was near identical to my first player I rescued. I loved the Lloyd's brand. I'm excited to find another 8-track player soon and start rebuilding another Kiss 8-track tape collection again. Those are such awesome 8-track players you have and nicely restored too. I can change a belt, and do the general upkeep on 8-track players myself, but if it's anything invasive circuitry-wise, then I would be sunk. I'd definitely want someone with restoration experience to show me how to repair these machines correctly. I've been into 8-track collecting since I was in the fifth grade. 😊
Hello my friend! What an awesome comment and wonderful story about your 8-track experience, well all except for the Alice Cooper (which I do own and love in eight track) cartridge getting smashed into pieces…ouch! I grew up with the format along with vinyl records, cassettes still weren’t around yet for several more years but I gradually got into collecting them as well but eight tracks were always my favorite format! Thanks so very much for watching and this comment, was a pleasure hearing your thoughts and stories! Take care! ~ Jeff
Thank you Jeff, and your story is awesome. I recently purchased two identical Lloyd's 8-track players yesterday and a few more Kiss 8-track tapes. I did replace the Alice Cooper 8-track that had originally belonged to my mom. So all is good. I also have it on cassette tape so I'm never without that awesome album. The only Kiss 8-track tapes that wouldn't play good for me was Rock n' Roll Over and Destroyer, both tapes were chewed up by my Electrobrand 8-track player years ago mid-90's. I was a serious 8-track collector in my teens and remain so. I had collected 8-track tapes since '89 and by the year 2011, nearly all of my 299 tapes in my vast collection wore completely out even though I made strides to repair and store them as best I could. All of my tapes were used. Also pressure pads were nonexistent for me so I never knew where to order them. I had to make my own. I won't know what the conditions of my newest Lloyd's 8-track players will be like since they are still being shipped. I do plan to clean them thoroughly before ever playing a tape and look at the belts, etc. A few good things to have are spare headphone jacks and an 8-track cleaning cartridge tape and spare belts. I do credit my parents immensely for their knowledge in teaching me how to properly clean the pinch roller and Capstan on my first Lloyd's. We used 91 percent rubbing alcohol and long wooden cassette deck cleaning q tips and a flashlight. 😊 We didn't have USB headlamps like we do today. Those were the good ole days. The 8-track cartridge tape repair I did that self-taught beginning at 12 years old to the present day and I enjoy it. I've also written my own manuals for my 8-track tapes when I was a teenager. I still have them. All the best and I'll definitely check out more of your videos my friend. 😊
Hello there Jeff. Right off the bat. Seeing any reissue released with extra tracks is a huge bonus. I never knew that it was never released on vinyl. But I can guess why. If you remember. The early to mid-nineties was like the height of the CD boom. The vinyl sections in our local record chain stores were down to the corners of the floors. I can remember Tower Records having three floors of CD's and one little corner of vinyl. But it did not bother me that much. I was buying the new and used releases for short money. Plus the new releases were very short printed. Which made quite a few of them collectible years later. I would guess that Warner Bros went for the format that was selling the most in 1993. <> Excellent review Jeff. The Carnal Knowledge pressings look very cool in the background. Just a short note. I saw VH fourteen times live. Starting in May of 1979 at the Orpheum Theater in Boston. Later that year I saw them at the Cape Cod Coliseum. Then on every tour after that including Sammy's first tour with the band. Did you ever see them live with DLR?~ Rob/Boston
Hey Rob, so great hearing back from you again, hope everything was okay with you yesterday. I always enjoy bonus tracks not found elsewhere on albums myself. Not many bands were releasing albums on vinyl around this time or as you mentioned limited pressings which now go for crazy prices for originals if you can find them at all. I fell for the seduction of cds like most people but never stopped buying vinyl or cassettes as I enjoyed all formats including 8-tracks as you well know. As long as it was good music I was able to listen since I kept and maintained my equipment to the best of my ability so I didn’t have to buy the same music I already had on cd. The cds were nice for home entertainment but didn’t travel well like the analog tapes did in cars, well at least not at first when they came out…lol. Fourteen times seeing VH, 😮 that’s amazing! I have never seen them live, I really would have loved to see them perform but was never in the cards for me growing up. With limited funds back then I always chose to buy albums or other formats and have music for life instead of just for the one night entertainment but regret those decisions now…lol! Thanks so much for watching and the kind words as always in your comments my friend! Take care and hope you had a great weekend! ~ Jeff
A great live album have it on a double cd set that I bought when it first came out. A beautiful looking 4 album set , enjoy. And a big hi to your little kitty cat 🤗
Thank you so very much my friend for stopping by and checking out the pickup. I think the cd is coming for me as well, I looked at it the other day and would like a copy for the car. The cat told me to tell you “meow” which I believe is hello! Take care and enjoy the rest of your weekend! ~ Jeff
Good evening Jeff. Just watched to bounce over and say hello. I got to run out for a while. But I will be back to check out this new VH review. Quick question. Was this original release from 1993 out of print for a while or tough to find on vinyl?~ Rob/Boston
Hey there Rob, Nice of you to pop in and say hello my friend! Not out of print or hard to find in vinyl but up until last year’s RSD it was only available in the cd (without the bonus tracks) format so it’s a first time pressing. Hopefully talk with you soon Rob and you are out enjoying your weekend of pleasure not work. Take care! ~ Talk with you soon! ~ Jeff
Hey Jeff..... Great score....u did good holding out for the black wax imho. Kinda surprised this one had no vinyl release until last year. Picked up a south american press of "For unlawful...." On a trip to Brasil about 20 years ago. I understand that one has seen a recent vinyl reish as well. Keep the great vids coming....cheers my Friend🔥🔥🔥
Hey Lee great to hear from you brother! Yes some things just work out for a reason. Wasn’t expecting to get this one in vinyl after missing out on the limited RSD release but it’s all good. The Unlawful was late getting into my collection, found a colored reissue in red that sounds amazing a few years ago and didn’t realize how good that album actually is! Been enjoying these Sammy era reissues from the vinyl boxset and now this one was a bit of a splurge and a treat! Thanks so much for watching and the kind words! Take care and talk soon! ~ Jeff
Hi Jeff… great pick up ! I got the Record Store Day version last year. I am loving all of these Van Halen reissues lately. The For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge deluxe from this past month is really good. I hope they do more deluxe versions of their albums. Hey did you see the 40th anniversary of Anamalize on Kissonline ? Thanks Jeff. Have a great weekend ! Chez
Hey there Chez, I was really hoping to grab the 30th anniversary from RSD but at least this one was released so it’s all good, congrats on your score however, very nice! Yes so glad to see the Sammy era getting the recognition it deserves, would love to see more deluxe editions to as they are more reasonable than the KISS boxsets! Speaking of KISS, yes I saw the 40th of Animalize and once again a sell out before I even got the email on the picture disc and now it’s bundled with shirts on the other vinyl so I will be enjoying my original copy and the reissue from 2014. You picking anything up or are you set as well? Take care and enjoy your weekend as well! ~ Jeff
Hi Jeff, Frank from Channel 33 RPM did a great review of the Deluxe 2CD, 2 LP and Blue Ray of For Unlawful etc. Just curious if that is on your to buy list. Black vinyl is good. Coloured vinyl can sound noisier than black vinyl.
Hey Bobby I did watch his review and was actually holding a copy of that in my hands at the record store when I was picking up this live copy for around the same price as this one. As I have 2 copies of that album in vinyl already, one in colored and one in black along with a copy in cd so before walking out I returned it to the shelf. So to answer your question…probably not. This is a first time on vinyl and I never had the original cd so I was excited to get this as it was a new listen and a vinyl copy as well which is fantastic when it works out like that. I will probably pick up the cd version of this but unfortunately they don’t have the bonus tracks on like this does. Great to hear from you as always, hope you have a terrific weekend! Take care and talk soon! ~ Jeff
@@JefferyRusnock Thanks Jeff. I'm having a fine weekend.
Wow. Good to see you Jeff. Seems like it’s been a long time.

Hey Jeff, great seeing you for a change! :D Nice negotiating Jeff! And lot of patience! Wow, 1 year! Pretty cool that set gives you all those replicas as you were there yourself or time travelled back and recovered them before they got sold and used. BTW Jeff, any updates on the redwoods? I miss my redwoods... :..( Have a good restful days off bud! Take care and talk soon! ~NammaN~
Hey Nam it’s great to have you visit my channel for a change also! I know that it’s been awhile since I posted anything but like I mentioned I just really wasn’t interested in much that was being released lately so I focused on new old stuff lol! Lots of music and goodies in this set so it was definitely worth the wait and it looks awesome sitting right next to the Destroyer super deluxe boxset! 😊 You know great minds really do think alike because I have actually been working on and repotting my redwoods for the past month. I found forever homes for 4 more of my Coast Redwoods including the 3 from my Bonsai Forest. I have 3 Coast in pots and two sprouts I plucked out of the soil and have in water to root them. I picked up a new Giant Sequoia tree for a new Bonsai and I’m also working on a Giant Sequoia seed kit to try and germinate my own Sequoias from seed. I am hoping to share this seed kit project on my channel now that the mini greenhouse is ready to be removed from the refrigerator and put outside in a warm sunny area for 15-45 days to hopefully sprout 9 new trees if all goes well so yes a possible overdue Redwood update soon. Do you have any left or are they all gone with all the traveling you do? Thanks for watching and commenting buddy and enjoy your week! ~ Jeff

Hey John, yeah it always gets a little sketchy waiting too long as the price often climbs instead of getting them cheaper. I really wanted to pick up the 1974-1979 originals colored vinyl boxset and Originals II but prices are crazy for them, well at least for me lol! Thanks for watching and the comment! You're kitty is pretty excited by the purchase as well. Haha. Thanks for updating the collection for us. Stay awesome Brother.
Hey Lee, Awesome to hear from you brother! Yes the trigger finger was starting to get a little itchy knowing that the longer I wait the possibility of this set only costing much more and never getting in the collection like some of the Japanese albums like Originals two or solo boxset. Hey there Rob! Hope you’re doing well my friend! I know exactly what you mean about running out of time and it getting away, no one is more guilty of that than myself. It seems like the older I get the less time I seem to have in a day…what’s up with that? I was just getting used to the idea of not having this set in my collection when I still saw it sitting in the record store. I always remember seeing people talking about getting things cheaper if you pay for it in cash and to tell you the truth if they came back with a counteroffer I probably would have left it there and stuck to my guns. It is a beautiful set and so much in it that it will take me awhile to get through everything but I’m up for the challenge lol! I hope that Led Zeppelin comes to their senses at some point soon and begin to understand the importance of sets like this to share unreleased material with fans as it’s always nice to hear if nothing else. I haven’t compared the two pressings as of yet but the 2014 reissue still has my vote on sound quality and the attention to detail with everything else so that one will be heard to beat. The blue vinyl and half speed remaster are still waiting in the wings to compare. I’m always ready for the Endless Summer as I know you love and embrace the warmth especially after the winter you guys get up north. Thanks again so very much for your amazing comment as always, and yes we definitely need to catch up with each other soon, always look forward to doing that and hearing what’s been happening with you. Take care buddy and enjoy the warm weather while we can, it’s gone before you know it! ~ Jeff
Hi Jeffrey, my mate got this about 4 months ago for around £150.00. He also got the Destroyer set too for around the same price. I only just found out recently that Steven Wilson mixed the Atmos Mix for the set. Steven Wilson has done loads of 5.1 Mixes for mainly Prog Rock artists and some Atmos Mixes too. He is very subtle on the mixes and has won a couple of Grammys too. Steven Wilson is a member of a number of bands and solo artist. I have most of his albums by his group Porcupine Tree plus a number of his solo albums.
Hello Bobby good hearing from you! That’s very interesting about Steven and his mix with the Atmos, I didn’t realize he was so involved with bands as well as solo works…appreciate the education you always bestow upon me! Sounds like you definitely agree on the original price being a tad bit higher than what it should have been. I’m going to have to google Steven Wilson and check out his works! Take care and talk with you soon! ~ Jeff
@@JefferyRusnock so pleased to see you post Jeff. I was a little concerned as you hadn't posted for quite some time. I see a few people were unhappy that the Dynasty bundles were sold out very quickly due to being able to order up to four. They should have limited to just one copy.
@@bobby666666 Totally agree with limited editions being allowed multiple copies, especially since they go up for auction on eBay or Amazon just like the RSD limited releases.
Jeff is back ....finally !!!
Thanks so much for stopping by my friend, hopefully the next one won’t be as long of a wait! Take care and talk soon! ~ Jeff
Hey now Jeff. I was thinking of you a few days ago. I was telling myself that I have got to send an email off to Jeff just to check in and say hello. But time got in the way again. Not easy when you are getting two hours a day max to do everything that I need to do. Which includes my music, record collecting, computer time and catching up with friends. <> Enough self pitying. Back to the video. 😎 Wow. Over a year waiting for any Kiss releases must be tough. But I am pleased that you finally grabbed the super deluxe box. Wow again. Seventy five unreleased tracks and thirty four demos. That's all I can say to that is. Jimmy, Robert and Jonesy, take note! It does not matter if you are aa superfan or not. You have to respect what these guys give back to their fans. 🎵 The artwork is really professional. Top notch quality. Nothing cheesy there. I agree. It is nice to see Vinnie getting his due. The tourbook. Very nice. 🎶The bio folder and notes galore. Killer. 🎵The posters are nice. Jeez. They even included postcards, bumper sticker, replica ticket and passes? Crazy. There is so much stuff in there that I will have to vote than in as the most thorough box set to date. I have never seen a better one. They truly give back to the fans. 🎶 Some bands have their boxes pressed in these generic boxes that look like they were put together at a UPS shop. Nothing against UPS. But they are not in the record pressing business. <> Thanks for sharing it all Jeff. Quick question. Have you compared the sound of that pressing against the original one that you most likely grabbed on the day of its release. I would love to know. <> Always good to see you. Hope that you are ready for the upcoming pre-summer bash of heat that we are going to get next week. A little too early for me. I love the hot weather. But having to work in it instead of sitting oceanside is criminal. My best to you all Jeff. Hope to catch up with you soon~ Rob/Boston
I wouldn't exactly call $300/£250 giving back to the fans. There are only about half a dozen discs. I have a Mansun Box Set that contains 24 CDs (most, but not all the studio material plus live discs) and 1 Live DVD. 2 Books, Prints for the 4 Albums and all for £150. There are lots of other Box Sets that are far superior than this one that you are probably unaware of. If your happy with this set that's great, but the cost is too much. Probably down to the greedy label.
Hey Rob, my apologies to you but I accidentally placed your reply in the comments…I guess it’s been a longer day than I thought lol! It is the comment that starts with Hey Rob. So sorry buddy!
Great Video and informative, thanks. I recently bought 4 of them but don’t know at this point where to plant them. I think I’ll put them in a Pot
Thank you for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the video! Take care and good luck with your sequoias! ~ Jeff
Me gustaría ver cómo arreglar el tocadiscos en del mismo modelo
Wonderful information..
Glad you liked it
My seeds just sprouted last week from my Josten's seed kit. I have three Sequoia seedlings. I can't wait until mine get that big.
I was thinking about trying a seed kit as well at some point, glad to hear that yours has worked out!
I just saw KISS here in Baltimore City Maryland last November and boy was it a show ! I waited half my life to see Gene Simmons spot blood. Boy was that exciting LoL
That is awesome! yes the blood spitting and fire breathing is so amazing and always a fun experience!
were your cutting cut off at a node or did you use a heal cutting?
It’s been 3 years let’s get another update.
I can only update you with it is still doing very well as I gave it to a friend who wants to plant it on his property! I offered it to him so I can see how it does in the ground once he is ready to go in. He has been transplanting it in larger pots until he is ready. I will get pictures and videos at some point and post them. Take care and thanks for your interest!
Status update on this?
Sweet sweet to see love Kiss
Appreciate it, thank you!
Nice!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Could you explain how exactly you did that? I tried root stimulant and everything, but giant sequoia clippings wont grow roots.
Hello! I would be happy to explain, it was a very simple but a long term and time consuming project! I took the entire small lower branch from my tree right to the trunk of the main tree. I just put it directly into a small container of just plain water and without missing too many days changed the water for it daily. This process took me about 9 months or so. It stayed under grow lights for several months over winter and in dappled light on my back deck in late spring, summer and fall never missing water change daily. It ok to miss a day in a week as I did but not much more than that, fresh water I believe is key. The limb from the main tree not only stayed green but was actually getting new growth on while it was in the container of plain water, no root stimulant added at all. At several months with still no roots I didn’t think they would ever start to grow but the branch was still living and thriving so I continued to change water daily and finally after close to a year it finally happened…a couple of roots pushing out and once the roots were growing well I put it in potting soil and never looked back. So the moral of the story is don’t give up as long as the branches stay green and healthy keep doing the fresh water changes even if it takes up to a year, commit yourself and it will pay off. Good luck, Thanks for watching and take care! ~ Jeff
@@JefferyRusnock that comment was godsent. I have a couple of small cuts, that i have put in water two weeks ago and didn't change the water yet. I will try changing the water daily and see what happens. Thanks. Actually getting roots on a big stem would be a dream. Did you prune it at all (to reduce foliage), or just put it in the water as is?
@@notlisztening9821 I cut the branches and put in water as is, leave the green foliage on. I believe it will help with the growth and reduce stress, plus you can keep an eye on the growth while the greens are still on. It worked for me that way and I would not hesitate to do it the same way again.
@@JefferyRusnock got it, cheers!
@@notlisztening9821 Just as a trial I cut the top off of a Coast Redwood and did the same thing with it and I got the same results, months of fresh water changes and almost a year later I got roots pushing out of the top tree cutting so apparently it wasn’t a fluke!
Very good and meaningful video, thank you for sharing, always accompany you ❤
Thank you very much
Did you get drying on the tree sometimes? Mine is drying on some branches. How was your experience with the tree? Mine are about 5 years old and in a pot
Yes my tree browns all the time as it grows and over the winter. I just let the them drop naturally or run my closed palm down the branches.
@@JefferyRusnock thanks Ill keep an eye on my trees and cut dying branches Good thing is the new ones are popping off How often do you fertilize them?
@@emelgiefro Honestly I just popped my sequoia out of the pot wash down the dirt and roots and repotted with fresh soil that already has slow release fertilizer.
@@JefferyRusnock thanks for the tip I think repoting should be done only when the rootstake over the pot so ill watch out for that They were only reacently repoted so im ok for 2 years i think
@@emelgiefro I think so too but I know those roots are a fast grower and love to spread out!
Can this species be grown indoors by window 🪟 with sunlight , I live in Uk 🇬🇧 ❓🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I keep my giants indoors for most of the year because of our cold climate and is doing very well now for years and back outside on my covered deck for the summer when the weather gets nice! Take care and thanks for watching!
@@JefferyRusnock ok 👌🏻 cool 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
