Hey Jeff, I was just on Roger's show. I had to get off so I could go pick up tooth brush/paste at the Quick Stop next to the hotel. Since, my hotel is within Virginia, it had my favorite go-to beer Yuengling. So I couldn't miss that for the night cap. Than I saw you had a video out so I had to come by. Ah those K-tel days!!! I was giving those K-Tel albums a spin this week, so many great artists and singles on one album which made them so popular. I’m glad to hear that you you have access to a Yuengling this evening for your nite cap, I know it’s not the same traveling and can’t find your favorite beer to enjoy. The perfect intro song. I was wondering if R & R All Night was featured on the album as soon as I heard it. Then I thought. Why would Jeff be featuring the song on the intro of the video if it wasn't? No matter how many times I hear that song I never get sick of it. It definitely does not have the "No Stairway' rule. : What would happen if Jimmy Page walked into a guitar store and played Stairway to Heaven? The sales associate would leave the floor and go to the manager’s office. “Hey Sam! There’s some guy out here playing Stairway to Heaven!” “So? Fucking everybody plays Stairway to Heaven.” “This guy actually seems to know what the hell he’s doing.” “Really? Does he look like he’s about a thousand years old?” “Yeah. What should I do?” “Since that’s Jimmy Page, tell him you’d really like to hear ‘Immigrant Song.’” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The K-Tel album compliments the K-Tel Record Selector Rack really nicely. The perfect album to keep in the front. Some of the songs on it are really good. I could not figured out why they gave Neil Sedaka the lead off spot on side A. The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. Now that is a blast from the past. That Record Selector has got t collectible Jeff. Outstanding post. The perfect Sunday evening smile~
Hey Rob what a treat for me getting to talk to you about so much this past week! It is one of those songs that you can just listen to anytime and be happy you heard it again and again and again! Yes it’s like Stairway To Heaven, I bought Led Zeppelin 4 in 8- track as a kid and I didn’t get to listen to any other song from the album for months because I just kept playing that one song over and over again! Speaking of Led Zeppelin, I love that Jimmy Page joke / story! Every now and again I really get in the mood for listening to these albums and I often forget how good they really are and how good they sound. It didn’t matter if you were a one hit wonder or had a string of hits, if it was a top hit you can find them on K-Tel records! Such a large range of artists all in one spot which is what made them so magical and appealing to buyers like myself since I lived listening to the radio and The American Top 40 those songs were always on the albums. I have been trying to track down a Record Selector stand for it also made by K-Tel but can’t find anything on it but they advertised for one on the back of the box and would look so nice as part of the Record Selector. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how many are out there but I do have several myself and for some strange reason I got the bug to start playing these K-TEL albums this weekend and couldn’t stop.
