The Crewe of the Fancy

Historical videos on varying topics across the 17th and 18th centuries, as well as some outside the era. Our primary focus is piracy, but as Pennsylvanians we have a lot of neglected history.

Oh and it was not repeating, no idea where he got that one.
The world has changed to worse including when it comes to the history of the past by wanting to change it into there own delusional version of history and spreading misinformation of what really happened in history, and not only that but people not also reading and search up the real history of things from the past including when it comes to viewing from different perspectives of what happened in the past like the lost Roman legion of the 9th legion who mysteriously vanished which many people say they're lost in different places but mainly in Scotland.
I was watching a documentary on the 9th Legion the other day actually. People get confused by historical theories about history. They think because a source is closer to the event, it means it's more accurate. A first hand account is always awesome. But even then, especially with the fog of war for a battle, it's only part of the story and if propaganda is involved it can be worse than no account at all. It's why we still make discoveries about World War II even though there are still people alive who lived it.
@@thecreweofthefancy I know for one thing is that the geological terrain would have been different from what it is today, like some parts of ancient Scotland and Britain would have been more boggy then it is now days. I remember replying to someone who says that they could have been lost in Amsterdam because of some Roman finds have been found there, which back in those days would have been very boggy by the water's there then it is now days. And not forgetting how dangerous the water's can be around the Atlantic and North seas during stormy weather.
Are we sure he's not related to Scott wolter
@Frogman-s8d I don't know, I would pick Scott Wolter over this guy. Scott's alt history is at least fun with Templar Pirate Ninjas, this is trying to claim that sites I've literally been to or live at and have tons of documentation are somehow fake or mythical.
Where you been?
@robertmccann5838 since which date. I haven't been doing much content recently as I've been building up my stuff again. Before that....my wife had a stroke, local PD didn't understand and I spent 3 months in prison for something somebody else did years ago.
@thecreweofthefancy dear God. Hoping everything is settled.
@robertmccann5838 sadly because our county DA is a POS, I have a record now, but we're working on legal action against the county and against the doctors that let it get that bad without noticing.
@@robertmccann5838 be sure to check out Gold and Gunpowder, we did a livestream a few months back.
It looks like Noah's ark
I would actually take that interpretation given the Christians who settled there as well as some of the ideals of the Puritans/Pilgrims.
I'm going to join that group and oh my God Yes many Minuteman for the win
boar in French is SANGLIER, gamey pork basically
This is some fabulous stuff. I'm related to all the sides, Mayflower, Penn, Breuklyn Dutch and Albany...You should have more followers.
@vkngwmn6636 thank you. I appreciate it.
You Do a Good Job Sharing History
@@lucabrasi5095 thank you. I am hoping to start releasing new long form content soon.
Well done
RUclips is a joke removing comments. I'm a uncle to a niece and nephew who I would do anything to protect them even if I have to go to prison for it.
I've remember when watching a old British comedy show called porridge and they made fish nets for fishermen in one of the episode's and farming as well
I'll check that guy out and yeah I agree 100% that slavery
It's been popping up on the ballot of several states to fully abolish slavery and they are not sugar coating it. It is defined as slavery.
Cool!
I like it especially the color
Yes!! I love it
Hey, thanks again for the great information. just so I understand, in the period between 1690 and 1720, petticoat breeches were worn directly over the undergrament? So essentially, on the bottom half you had drawers and petticoat breeches?
@harrisonlong644 yes, they were full on breeches made from normal clothing fabric, some were quite upper class. They weren't the overbreeches that came later. I want to do a followup video here soon specifically on them.
@@thecreweofthefancy Thanks for the reply. I see, they were normal breeches and not extremely baggy petticoat breeches. Something like you have in this video here? ruclips.net/video/2LoT-90I1s0/видео.html
@harrisonlong644 oh don't underestimate the bagginess. In one pair from I think the 1680s, toadspool tailoring told me she found something like 4 yards of fabric PER SIDE. I normally only use a fat yard or 2 yards for a normal sized pair. Some of the ones worn by the Buccaneers look like full on skirts. The later 18th century pairs were still baggy, but cut different and from utilitarian fabric like hemp and canvas. Earlier you could have wool, silk, linen, etc.
@harrisonlong644 collections.vam.ac.uk/item/O356780/petticoat-breeches-unknown/ this is a 1660s pair but very similar in cut and style to the ones seen in the buccaneer images. Note these are very much upper class.
@@thecreweofthefancy oh I see. in the 17th century / early 18th, breeches were a baggy garment worn over the drawers. In the later 18th century breeches became closer fitting and petticoat breeches were large garments over the top?
Are early breeches meant to be this baggy? I know later ones are meant to be tight. I love it though. Great work!
@navalpotato9098 this is actually the lower end of baggy amongst quite a few of the breeches of the time. Check out some of the petticoat breeches 1680s-90s.
That said this is also the time period where we see narrower legs. The Royal Navy frontispiece which had the hat I'm wearing has much baggier checked breeches.
@@thecreweofthefancy thank your so much! Love the channel and your work.

Loved it Good job bro
@@frogman-ns7yb thank you all so much.
Top of the morning to you. From southern East coast. Top-notch attire. Full sails ahead Capitan. SE winds 5 to 10 kt seas less than 2 feet.

I love this song. What is it?
Nassau Shores from the Black Sails soundtrack.
Hell yeah!!!
Dang that's impressive, well done!
Amazing coat.. Full speed ahead. Wish I could create a playlist on Spotify with that music while enjoying my pirate cove in the back yard.
@raymond5194 I have one on pandora of shanties, folk music, and a few punk songs from Real MacKenzies, Flogging Molly, and The Dropkick Murphys.
@@thecreweofthefancy thanks
You sir are truly a master, what specific time period is this coat from exactly?
@@gxrzavlogs5188 roughly 1690. I kept most of my influences based on artifacts and paintings from around 1680-1695.
Ocracoke Island. 1960's great show called Danger Island
Can you make me one? What would you charge? Or do you have a more detailed instruction video on RUclips?
@mattmiraglia3199 I did a live on modifying some of the commonly available blanks late last year. This one I did from a capeline so about as scratch as you can get without raw felting. I am charging about $150 for a finished ones now. I can also do the buccaneer style.
I like the look of it, was it a fairly common type? Also I heard it was popular to stick a plum feather in it as well. Was that a common method?
@gxrzavlogs5188 common enough, the late 17th century early 18th century saw a lot of variety. Feathers appear in the images, even feathery trims along the edges.
Richard's work! Love his stuff.
@@leonciesla259 I finally had an excuse to buy some and check it out. Great stuff.
