I like your version of the bowl cozy better than the Sew What pattern. $13 is now the common price of patterns (everything goes up, right) but $6.00 for each fat quarter? It wasn't Tilda fabric was it? That's way to much for fabric and a pattern - no notions? Did the price include shipping? I don't see the value for that box. Since you paused your subscription maybe their Oct, Nov, Dec boxes will be good? They've really changed the box content since I got it a couple of years ago. At that time you got a couple of projects and all the stuff needed to make the projects, thread, sewing machine needle, quilt pins and one or two other notions plus the patterns and tutorials. I dropped the subscription after 3 months because I didn't care for the projects but different friends made the items...everything from bags to pincushions, etc. The Sew Yours box was different, strange that they didn't recommend a RUclips video to watch, instead of just saying, "Here! Knock yourself out!" These are some good folks to look up for videos: Sallie Tomato; Rosie & David patterns see Rosie's Art Studio; Sew Hungry Hippie; Jess Oklaroots - that's a lot to watch but should get you going in the right direction for getting a box of supplies with no instructions. Other boxes you might consider: Open Gates gives you the products for two complete projects and you can add additional fat quarters to the box for a stash builder and the backing for the current project. Aurifil small thread is always included. The patterns you get are Monique's creations and sometimes you get fabric she designed. This is a monthly subscription and Monique has a tutorial and actually does a LIVE Zoom or Face Book. The Pastry Shop Box of Treats is really good. This box comes out every 6 weeks, includes the fabrics (Moda) to make a nice size quilt but you normally need to provide your background for the quilt top and the backing, Mettler thread, a couple of notions, the pattern, a mini charm pack and a small candy treat. Andrea of Arkansas Gals does tutorials showcasing The Pastry Shop Box of Treats and sometimes Cherie sends Andrea The Pastry Shop kit which does include the background fabric and Andrea will do a tutorial on that. Just received Treat Box #20 so a relatively new subscription and you can purchase some of the past boxes if interested. My last recommendation for a subscription box is Bella Rose Quilt Society which comes out every other month. This box started in January by Sandy and is packed with goodness. You get everything to make a large project and a small project plus a Block of the Month. Included is a full size spool of Aurifil thread, notions that you'll need for the projects and a treat of some sort. This box presentation is above par - not just some tissue paper but useable bags that can also act as wrapping for gifting whatever you make. Very new subscription and you can contact her about obtaining the other boxes. Box #4 shipped out last Friday. This is an expensive box but it is every other month and you get all the products to make a quilt plus a small project and the BOM pattern. Sandy does a LIVE tutorial and Andrea of Arkansas Gals does a tutorial. Other folks that do tutorials on the above subscriptions are Stephanie Stitches, Sew Becca and Fallon of Sew Be It Quilts. Kate's Krafting Nest and Andrea of Arkansas Gals are great for Fat Quarter Sampler box tutorials if Kimberly of FQS hasn't done a video of the monthly subscription box or the BOM pattern in that box. LOL! Aren't you glad you asked! Hope this helps with knee surgery recovery - keep lots of frozen ice packs handy and frozen peas for emergency (those bags are sometimes easier to form around the swelling.) Good luck.

i have two subscriptions. I just canceled one because although I got fat quarters, none of the fabrics went together so they all got shoved into boxes of fat quarters, where the other garden gate, is more expensive but I get a thread, a gizmo for quilting, two or three patterns with all or some of the fabrics to complete them, I have gotten some good stuff, and things I use all of the time.

I love the Fat Quarter Shop Boxes!! I am a bit behind in the projects but they have sent great notions and rulers, the fabrics are great and the rulers have been too!

Dont get this box. Maybe a smart idea. Dont like that it's not a included pattern and instructions.

There are a bunch of free bag patterns out there but for a novice, I highly recommend Sew Sweetness. Her patterns are easily explained and she has done videos for them also. She usually recommends her Baker St pocketbook or Tower Crossbody bag for newbies. Oklaroots and Crafty Gemini are also awesome. Great video. TY for all the info.

If you get a project box you will get everything you need to make the project. I need the paper for the patterns, maybe there could be a choice option?

I have been subscribed to sew sampler from day one. By far my favorite box. They rarely have bag patterns. It’s usually a small quilt which I usually make into a large quilt. If I don’t like the pattern I pull the fabric for my stash. Also the sew yours box is for bag makers. As a bag maker I have tons of patterns. So to get a surprise box is fantastic in my opinion. It does make me use my imagination to use the stuff in the box on one of my patterns. Great video and don’t give up on sew sampler it’s the best for the price. They just started the code thing for the videos. It never used to be that way.

I am so sorry, but I looked on the website and the box is exactly as it was described. I am not sure that I understand what criteria is used to evaluate the boxes. If it didn't give something that it promised then I would be upset, but if it comes with the items listed in the description of what you are buying, then I would be happy because I chose that product....I love your videos, I am just looking for clarification. Once again, sorry maybe I am misunderstanding.

I love the one from Fat Quarter Shop’s monthly subscription. You chose the wrong month to compare. I took it out now for 11 months, and I received several rulers along with tons of patterns and several goodies.😊

Have you or your other subscribers heard of a box for modern quilters? I am going to cancel Ms. Quilty because after 3 months I really don’t need any more small floral prints. Think about doing some hand work while you are unable to sit at the sewing machine. I enjoy appliquéd quilted projects.

Thank you for this video. I learned a lot. I got a Mrs. Quilty box last week and was very disappointed. A couple months ago I purchased a pack of 70 10" squares from Amazon. It was a cheap Chinese company and instead of 70 squares, with no repeats as claimed in the description, every fabric was repeated 2-4 times. And they definitely were not quality fabrics. The fat quarters in the Mrs. Quilty box were exactly the same fabrics (designs, colors, and quality). Exactly! I matched each one up with group of 10" squares from that Chinese seller. I had thought about giving Mrs. Quilty a second chance, but after your review, and seeing that it was not only my opinion on the quality, I am going to cancel. Thanks for saving me money.

I received 2 boxed from Mrs Quilty. I meant to cancel after the first box. I feel it is cheap, the material and other items. So I agree that’s a no for me!

I don't crochet or knit anymore because of arthritis in my hands. I've been recuperating from foot surgery and have a pretty purple cast 💜 I just ordered a kit to make Diamond Art coasters! Cause I'm getting bored. Can't get downstairs where my sewing is. Speedy recovery to you, at least i get a knee scooter. 🛴 😊

In my opinion, the Sew Sampler box is the best bang for your buck. Their patterns are written better than any out there.

I will say this...I don't get subscription boxes because I never feel like I would get my money's worth. Always stuff in them I just wouldn't want and certainly don't want to pay for. But try Open Gate...I love watching unboxings and it is one that most people that get them are never disappointed. And there is another, Goody's Color club...it is fabric, and I have yet to see one I didn't like. It is always nice fabric, and will be a color theme.

I was shocked about the Fat Quarter Shop lack of video because they have the best and clear content! Just a thought, while I haven't subscribed to their box, I have called their customer service for pattern instructions help and they were extremely helpful.

Just found you today, i like the idea of comparing boxes. You are right on the second one $30 value for 5 FQ is ridiculous, thats $24 per yd. Definitely not worth it.
