Not sure what caused my wifi to stop working and the wifi icon disappear on the eg4 mini after a year with no issues but just disconnecting the solar and grid from the unit for a few minutes fixed the issue.

What is the DET symbol on the left side? I've never seen that on my machine.
@@EricB DET is for Detergent level yours doesn't have that?
Great video, but would you mind showing a little closer up what size weather stripping you used in certain areas on the lint trap? I saw you used a flat head screw driver to push one of the strips in but I can tell why that needed to be done.
@ginacartwright5688 disregard the flat screw driver in that video I tried using 2 different size weather stripping and it was way to tight sliding in and out. In my last video I show where I'm using this weather stripping in one piece all the way around. www.amazon.com/dp/B07S9X3HG6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1
@ thank you for your reply! Do you mind posting a quick video showing what trim you have on it currently? Do you still have the thicker trim on there as well? Just hoping to know which ones to all buy and where to place them on the tray. Thanks so much!
Also could you mention is the air filter still works well?
@ginacartwright5688 air filter working great, weather stripping is definitely more important tho.
@ginacartwright5688 i will try and post something soon. Thank you
What kind of vacuum attachments do you use to vacuum out filter housing

Aweesome video! Is this inverter compliantt with vde-ar-n 4105?
Another good way of cleaning that condenser is using a water pick for your teeth. I use the battery operated one from target works like a champ.
It’s a good thing GE doesn’t make jet engines
You could probably set that back foam piece first then run the stripping all the way around the filter and over the back piece to prevent that corner from tearing up. I will try it that way when I get mine delivered. I saw the video posted by the guy who opened the unit up to clean the coils and he confirmed that empty cavity in the back is the cause of lint build up on the coils. Apparently the cavity only exists to make it easier for the filter to be removed to meet ADA requirements so it serves no purpose. You may not even need the weather stripping, just the foam piece on the end to fill up that cavity. Also he found that lint builds up into a ball just left of where the filter sits and you can't see it unless you open the unit up or stick a camera back there. That is caused by the filter chamber building up moisture which makes the lint stick and if you remove the filter after every wash and leave it out, the chamber can dry out preventing the lint buildup. So modify your filter to plug that empty chamber in the back of the filter housing and leave the filter out until you're ready to run a load. Also, if you wash your filter allow it to air dry before inserting it into the machine. You want to make sure the filter chamber is dry before your run a load so lint doesn't stick and build up. I imagine you could run an empty dry cycle to help it dry out.
Check out this video with the top of the housing removed. ruclips.net/video/b72nxojHHdM/видео.html It looks like you are still going to want some way to stop lint from getting in from around the back of the filter where you removed the foam. Instead of the solid block of foam going straight back, you might be able to attach a strip of weather stripping vertically to both sides of the back of the filter to block off that cavity in the housing.
Thank you for your video. Would a steam cleaner work or do you need the stream of water to clean
You might be able to use steam cleaner but I would feel safer using water stream.
Any thoughts on alternatives to the brush style weather strips? I am thinking of using a strip of smoker gasket, which is a felt-like material rated for high temperatures. It is normally used to seal the door of outdoor smokers and grills. Any advantage to the brush/pile style over rubber, felt, foam, etc. In another video using the complete wrap around method, they left the temporary wax paper on for less friction, but I would be concerned about the paper holding up in a wet environment with 140+ temps.
Did u try a different style gasket? I did see the video where the guy left the wax on the weather stripping I personally don't like that idea. Thanks for the comment sorry I'm just getting back to you.
@OzarkLivin Do you have any updates about how it works compared to the older method?
@Yuvalgr so far it's working out just like the old method. No issue with it coming loose as of now. Give it a try
@@OzarkLivin thanks for the update. I don't have the machine but I want to get it now for Black Friday. So I wanted to know before I buy that this fix works and keeps the machine healthy.
Is this high heat
The inside of this unit on a dry cycle only reaches about 135 degrees Fahrenheit
Thanks for sharing , works well , but hope GE would fix the problem asap
Smart idea
I'd suggest doing a finishing spray pass with distilled or demineralized water so you don't get scale build up on the coils.
Hello, is the unit still running strong? I love the thought of this unit, but am hesitant with all the nightmare stories I read. Just wondering if this fix really is still holding up to this day. Much thanks, love the videos!
Honestly we really like this machine! Filter mod is a good idea for longevity. I would buy it again!
Great video. Thanks for sharing!
Its funny that customers have to hack filter cleaning unit after spending over $2k on a GE Profile like unit.
I have the exact issue now with my Unit and they first sent fast appliance repair team to fix. He comes and says the Heat pump is bad and ordered the part and waited for 2 weeks. Then he calls for another person to help him saying its a 2 person job. On the next visit the second guys uses flashlight and find that there is a lot of lint build up which as a customer there is no way to fully clean. And i use to clean it before every use. So they said fast appliance repair team is not trained on this unit to do the repairs and I need to contact GE to get a GE tech to repair. So waiting again. What i don't understand is how is a customer suppose to clean this unit effectively when its a design fault and crappy product to begin with. I don't GE taking the ownership of this issue and trying to help the customers who jumped on this product. So my verdict, DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT UNTIL GE fixes the lint filter design itself.
This is the kind of machine you buy when you’ve been influenced.
Mine will act like it’s going to wash then it just turns off any ideas of what the problem could be?
Have you checked error codes? ruclips.net/video/Amx9OJIWWo8/видео.html
@@OzarkLivin gonna check them now thanks
@coreymoore9840 let us know what you find out. Thanks
@@OzarkLivinit was a speed sensor code…cost me $500 to get it fixed
@coreymoore9840 damn that sux , thanks for the update.
looks like ur filter has holes and small amounts of lint is building up quickly
I just noticed my lint build up in the back and I can’t get to it back there. Need to watch your video on the lint brush. I love this washer. It’s been fantastic! I keep up on the maintenance and I clean the filter every cycle. I also bought extra foam filters and change them out for cleaning.
GE needs to come out with a new filter with all the fixes and ship them for free to all purchasers
I don’t think people are using the ex fast spin cycle. I only use that and have had no lint issues at all.
@@TheMadcowintucson interesting thanks for commenting
This might be a stupid question but is there any utility for the left side of that top half to the left of the filter? Couldn’t GE just separate that from the overall housing where you lift it up/down ? Like could I theoretically take a circular saw and cut the top down towards the back then around the left side and remove it without damaging anything else other than just the housing? It just seems like that’s a no brain solution they should have just did to make it super easy to access that area.
them chinks couldn't think to do this when they copy/pasted this design in R&D ......well done
These units are junk bad flaws plus they don’t tell you these are for 1-2 people households we had 3 control boards replaced , heat pump replaced and the filter replaced had to fight with Bestbuy they finally swapped out for a normal unit the heat pumps are the issues with all the all in one units
Question for you guys, I did find this video and I have done the customization and lint is fully under control now. its great. With 2 indoor cats small load or large load always seems to be a lot of hair. Plus I use the new cat hair download/upgrade that came down to our machines a bit ago. As far as my question, when I take out the screen, the front end, closest to the handle is always nice and dry and the lint just pulls right off. But the other end, the end closest to the back of the machine always seems wet/damp to the point I really have to work to get the lint loose. I have washed the screen, cleaned the interior, anyone have this issue or heard about it? Thanks. P.S other than that little issue, love the machine, saves so much time and space in the house.
Awesome video. Am currently planning to go offgrid with a small cabin and go solar with the pecron unit and panels. Any knowledge or review on that unit would be helpful if u know. Thanks.
@bamacat4469 Thank you, I haven't seen the pecron unit I'll have to check it out

Ours hasn’t worked since day one. 🥺 they’re garbage.
At this price customers have to finish the construction !! 😓😓 GE engineers should thank you to show them how to do a good work 😅
I Done the weatherstrip modification and the end foam. Works like a charm. After a month, the visible coils are as clean as it was brand new. Thanks for the good work. He needs to get off it's butt and do a factory filter fix, similar.
Which shop light did you use? Hoping to do the same and not sure how to pick one, or if they are all roughly the same 😊
Great idea! Most of us bought the harbor freight to do things on a budget anyway. This is a great way to accomplish greater lengths but not spend an arm and a leg. Appreciate the idea and you posting it!
@@kekedatackleco.7172 It's working great so far. Thanks for the comment!
What do you expect to buy appliances made in China, and actually work, plus Europe has been making combos since the 60/70 and they still fail. Why just falling into a marketing scam
Well unfortunately damn near everything is made in china!
@@OzarkLivin not really miele, Bosch , Beko, are made in Europe. Whirlpool although I don't like it is still us made. Samsung is usually Korean much better than china
Could you wrap the bottom strip around the back under the large block of foam to keep it from detaching on the corner?
That's not a bad idea, might be worth a try.
The links in the description are the same for both the top/bottom and ends.
when I click the links it is working for me not sure what the issue is. this is for top and bottom www.amazon.com/dp/B07S9X3HG6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 this is for end www.amazon.com/dp/B07W7JR35H?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

What was happening when it stopped working? Mine will run on wash and just sit when it’s time to dry
MIne would act like it was drying but the compressor never came on so it would just blow air. Have you checked your codes? If not google how to check codes on this unit. If you need help let me know.
@@OzarkLivin I got a check and clean drain pump filter code. Cleaned that, ended up being a penny in the tube that I could luckily fish out. Now I’m running a quick cycle hoping it’ll do its thing and go from wash to dry
Update for anyone that sees my comment and has the same issue… check the pump! Mine had a ball of yarn from a baby hat stuck in it. Just pulled it out put everything back together and it’s good to go
@@mrcc804 awesome thanks for the update!
What do you think about placing all the weather strips INSIDE the unit? It might let you use a longer runs on the top and bottom so you can feed the filter in and not catch on the edges.
Not a bad idea and I thought about that but with my wife and daughter using this unit i was worried if weather strips came loose might cause more issues plus cleaning the unit would be harder imo. Thanks for the comment
Can someone tell me. Does that open up to be cleaned also ?
Do you have a link for the filter material you are using?
