I understand what u r saying. But trust me, the SA agents already know home prices are much lower in SA compared to homes in the USA and Europe. Our saying It is not news or a surprise to them. Why our group spoke up about it, was because it was a surprise to many of us. Even though I already knew- it was still exciting for us seeing it in person. Europeans have been coming to SA for many years buying property and driving up prices. Our small group will not drive up prices….First of all, Most of us in the group cannot afford to buy those expensive large homes. 2nd, we are not naive.The realtors may raise the prices for us; but we know the game. The same is done in the US. What affects price the most is the level of supply to demand. Also the asking price is not the selling price. They can ask whatever they want. Most of us will shop around to get the best price. It’s about supply and demand. The more homes available, the better the price for buyers, in general. For the very few in the group that could afford those homes, know they will do their due diligence. They will be looking to buy below or at market value- not above. African Americans, especially at that level, are not gullible.

I meant no disrespect. This was a planned tour. The owners knew their house was being shown to the public- including photos and videotaping. If they were concerned about it, they would have most likely removed them.

I understand your frustration. And i empathize with SAs who cannot afford to buy s home in their home country. And I hope the inequality in SA decreases. Many Americans can’t afford homes in America either. That’s partially why some are coming to SA. It’s not only Americans; Europeans are and have been, coming to SA for many years to benefit from the exchange rate of the Rand to the Euro and Pound. Inflation is affecting us all. SA has natural resources that can benefit its citizens. The SA govt needs to take care of its people. Please don’t blame Americans, especially African Americans. We are in support of our SA brothers and sisters in SA. And we are a very very small group, compared to all the people who are buying homes in SA. The movers of real estate prices are the majority of people who buy and sell land in SA. Who owns the majority of land in SA? Not Americans and Not Black Africans. You know who. The people driving up the prices of real estate are the people who own the majority of land in SA- White South Africans. And the reason for the inability for some/many Black South Africans to afford a home is because of continued racism, callousness, and corruption. SA has soooo much good potential. I hope and pray SA continues to prosper for the benefit of all of its people!🙏🏽🇿🇦❤️

It’s not for everybody. Some people like big homes to accommodate large groups of family and friends. Some people just do it because they can afford to. I’m not looking for a large house, but I do think it’s pretty and posh.

@@DrAntoinetteLloydMDTo answer the above question, I am a professional (42 years old) and own a house in a similar Gated Estate. Most of the houses are owned by upper middle class young black professionals with families. It’s not as expensive as it is in the US. What’s even more impressive is the rural country villages that are also looking beautiful. And then if course, you get areas that are VERY expensive like Sandton or Cape Town. Beach front houses are owned by foreigners because they are wayyyyy too expensive, even for us.
