Wait, so if I'm your friend, I get home cooked Jollof and Fufu? Where do I sign up? I also want Jollof and Fufu (and friendship is also nice!). Do I also get Egusi? Because then I'll just move in with you!
Don´t worry about the threat to call the police - I don´t think it has anything to do with race. I am German, as white as they come and have been threatened with the police. For riding my bike on the pedestrian path, for parking my car "im Halteverbot"... it´s a certain breed of people who do it. My partner is English and I think he feels the same about learning the language. 🤪
There is just one human race.
What are clicks in the church?
Cliques meaning groups. Basically they divide themselves into groups by country. So you find the Nigerians sticking with Nigerians etc.
Germans are to honest to be polite. British are too polite to be honest.
The info about rents in London and Hamburg is galling really, talking as someone from the UK. But Hamburg isn't the best comparison. Are the rents in Munich or Berlin more comparable to London? As for race relations.......... I'm surprised to hear you say this because under other German channels, there's a lot of criticism over Muslims in Germany. Both those who have been there for several generations and more recent arrivals. Africans aren't that popular either. It's probably because you're from the UK or have been living there a while that you're more accepted and acceptable.
Hey, Hamburg is one of the most expensive cities in Germany, Berlin is much cheaper I think. Not sure about Munich. RE: Race relations. I am speaking specifically to race relations not racism. I said “if Germans like you”. And I find they are more open to friendships and real culture mixing when they do. British people are more conservative on culture mixing even if they like you. I say this on a personal level. I do have some privilege of being from the UK. That is true. It’s likely not the same for everyone. To my experience, I just prefer Germany when it comes to building interracial friendships.
View from a German: Germany has become less save in the last 10 years. There even have a japanese girl be killed and we have about every 2 weeks someone being killed by knife by a migrant. The issue are islamic people in Germany, but here comes the second issues with "races" in Germany: The self-hate of Germans. If a migrant does something wrong like kill or rape, he does not get accused of, but Germans say "we failed to integrate him, it is all our fault". Germans have a deep self-hate resulting from the time after 2nd world war, feeling responsible for everything that happens, rather than pointing to others.
Disagree wholeheartedly with your assessment of the “issue”.
@@TheNameisPY I see the news daily and the reaction of politicians, as I am living in Germany and have been born Germany 38 years ago. Sometimes the view of someone who just lives some years in Germany or did not get the whole impact of history differs from someone who lives all live plus has deep roots in a country.
I can disagree because there is the same talking point in the UK. Where when one bad person does something it is blamed on a whole community/culture but funny enough when a good person in that community/culture does something good it is never mentioned or attributed to the community/culture of said good person. So thats why I disagree.
@@TheNameisPY You make the wrong link to it. It is not about "everyone from there is like" but "we do not punish the ones who did it". This harms the whole community, because not punishing the inviduals also gives bad names to the ones who behave.
That I can agree with. It’s just that you mentioned Muslims. That’s a group so I can’t agree with that.
As a German I can straight forward tell you that it makes me happy to hear that you like living here. Let‘s beat the terrible German history together and build a better German future!

Young man. You have just written about 8 emotional responses on the internet arguing with a woman you don’t know about how she feels. My younger brothers mentioned about these emotional, sassy man princesses on the internet dead set on arguing with women. They use all these weird words like ‘simp’ etc. They swear they are the “Real Men”. I see what he meant. You will grow one day and understand that being able to take your ego out of conversations and letting a person speak without making it about you is actually the masculine thing to do. Being quick to argue about someone else’s feelings is a Bitch trait. I’m not here for your gender wars. I said numerous times in the podcast if you cared to listen, I am giving the ladies a chance to speak without pushback. The fellas will have our episode and do our talking so stick around. Otherwise there are a million places you can go watch men who are unfulfilled in their lives argue with women. Not here.
Someone preferring race relations in Germany to the UK is interesting and a perspective you don't hear very often, at least I don't. Why wouldn't Londoners eat your food? :D Would love to try Ghanaian food.
Hey. Yh I really do prefer it here. It’s not even the fact they won’t eat it. We just don’t make going to each other’s homes a thing. English people are brilliant at diverse work place relationships but not so much for diverse personal relationships. I think Germans are better at that. Though I will also say I haven’t experienced a great diverse workplace relationship in Germany. Just great personal relationships.
@@TheNameisPY I see, thanks! Workplace relationships really depend on where you work. We have a great one where I work, where we also talk about personal stuff without problem.
All da besz😊
When society gets poorer which it seems to be it will feelings will not be as important anymore.
30 years ago I would never expect someone from London prefering a german city to live in. That's amazing to hear and for me as a german sounds like a big compliment 🤩
There are no Black people on this stage. Those people are whatever country they are from. They are not black.
You are more than welcome to speak for yourself Sir. I’m African, I’m Ghanaian, I am Black, I am Black British. I can be all of those based on my birthright, my life experience, the cultures I adopt, the places I am a citizen of and I pay taxes in. I am staking my claim in all those identities because I have contributed to them as much as they have contributed to me. It’s really that simple.
German banks normally have their own debit cards for which they do not charge for withdrawals. Some banks are in groups that do not charge for the cards of the others either. Because they have to pay for transfering the money to another bank outside their system - at least in working time - they charge for it. Most shops take debit cards but not credit cards, because the latter are more expensive. It also depends on the area. Internationsl chains often have special deals with the institutes. And card readers, the infrastructure around card paying until a few years ago has also been a cost factor especially smaller shops have tried to avoid. And there is a certain paranoia concerning leaving a digital trace in part due to the Third Reich and the GDR. Imagine the Gestapo or the Stasi having access to this data. The driving experience: Even in GB signaling comes in different ways in different areas, as has been described very nicely in 'Notes on a Small Island'. The same holds true for Germany. We normally wave a hand or something like that. Most people would never think of using an indicator for signalling anything than changes of direction or hazards. In driving schools we learn... ... §1... 'besondere Rücksicht und Vorsicht'. (special consideration and attention) ... the right of way is more or less universal. ... in court car drivers are mostly the ones held responsible if the have injured a cyclist or a pedestrian. Unfortunatey some cyclists are quite aggressive in asserting their rights, while sometimes completely ignoring those of pedestrians, as you can experience extremely well in Münster 🙄. Another asoect here are our Netherlandian neighbors where the bike seems to rule supreme and where a lot if Germans like to spend their time. The police calling thing? Yeah, some people do this as a general conflict-related technique, no matter who they are talking to - except the other person is wearing a police uniform anyway. Have been at the receiving end of this as well. Took my phone, called the police, told them somebody wanted to talk to them and handed the phone to the other party who didn't want to take it. 😏. Even when racism is involved - which in my case hasn't been - it might be a nice way to get this solved.
"Call the police" in my experience has not neccessarly to do with racism. If you have an agrument f.e. with your neighbour about noise, it is not uncomon to threaten to call the police, hoping the other one is complying and if he dosn't you will think twice, if you realy want to go through the hustle calling the police. Those situations occur regardless of the race of those two arguing. This is only one example...
Black men is too preoccupied with image if u ask me
where is the lady on the right from
Love your accent 😊 i live in Hamburg too. Love this town ❤️
Thank you so much. I am not sure what it is. A bit of Ghanaian mixed with London mixed with some American, I think.

You'll certainly find racism anywhere. I do think, it's less in Germany, but it's more behind your back, less openly communicated. Overall, I also think that there's more "classism" than racism prevalent in society. In Britain, people in general seem to be more class-aware, whereas in Germany many people eventually even deny the existence of classes, but discriminate against you at the same time - again more covert, less openly.
Certainly everywhere. So is classism. British people will still be civil with you and that make it tricky to even know. For me, that’s worse.
German racism is more behind your back? Then how do you know about it?
@@Fragenzeichenplatte I'm white, born German, and I do hear things from other people, whenever they think that racism would be "common sense".
@@TheNameisPY Germans indeed are more blunt in communication. But at the same, racism and classism is kept under the rug.
@@IsaakHunt If you're white then you obviously wouldn't experience direct racism against non-white people. You only see your own experience which may not be the same as what black people see.
have never heard of electricity being included in the rent.
It’s rare. We were lucky.
😂 I am Bavarian. I have been to Hamburg. And Paris. Etc. Your take on Londoners is not what I have experienced. I lived there for six years, made great friends there and yes they invited me for garden parties and dinners and I have been to all their houses and not to have sex but to have conversations and food. Check. Fun fact: I helped a Nigerian guy root in Germany and then his wife he had brought over from the motherland was a real racist bitch to me. Not grateful at all. So you see let's stop generalising and just say it all depends on the person her/himself. Period.
I’m glad you had a different experience. As a Black person who has lived in the UK for 25 years. I can tell you that my experience is very similar to many Black peoples. My siblings went to school in London and still don’t have any good White friends. They are 34-38 years old. I am not putting the blame on anyone/race. I am just saying the race relations is very different between the 2 cities. I have been in Hamburg 3 years and I have so many great White friends. It’s a culture thing in my opinion.
Bro I never heard about fufu before but I lookedit up. It sounds so interesting. Can I visit you and try it? ❤😂😉😋
Sure 😊
Moin! Fellow Ghana-born, living in Hamburg here 🙋🏾♀️. I have family members living in and outside of London. Hamburg is quite expensive, but nothing compared to London. I feel very fortunate to have been living in Hamburg for so many years now. It's so diverse, beautiful, and full of culture. Your take on Germany in general and Hamburg in particular is quite accurate. You have a soothing voice that I really enjoy listening to. Much Love ❤❤❤
Hey. Ghana in the house. Thanks so much for your kind words 🖤🖤
interesting take about the racism...I am Austrian, and lived in London for like 7 years and coming back it was really tough at first, because Austrians, at least the older ones, lack politeness. But I totally relate to your viewpoint, or understand.
Thats a blatant lie, how can yo tell and you have to proof that, I hav eworked in so many countries and Germans are moer open than most if not all other countries and specially in comparison of teh US teh Germans are so much mor open and educated with regard to other countries and cultures- Germans are famous for traveling a lot, if tehy weren't open they woudl stay at home - and if you think so about Germans nobody forces you to come to this country and what kind of bad habits and you mentioned black Germany- WE do not differenciate between black and white YOU do it so if you coem to thsi country ask yourself who has to adapt, the host country to you or you to teh host country
I didn't know crime rate was that bad in London... And what do you mean, they do not come to your house to be social? Do you mean you have Friends in London that never have seen your home???🤯☹
Its not unbearable. But there is more crime in London in Hamburg, I find.
i hope your channel blow up, the interviews are very interesting
I appreciate that! Thank you so much!!!
The worst part about German culture is how they STARE at you if you are any color other than white. We traveled through Eisenach, Weimar, Bayreuth, Zwickau, Leipzig, and Dresden as part of a classical music heritage-themed tour, and everywhere we went the locals just STARED unblinkingly at us with tremendous hostility and disgust, as if we were vermin who should be exterminated. Asking them to stop "Bitte nich starren mich" did NOTHING, they would just continue to stare silently. What is wrong with these people? I came away from my trip with a deep understanding of how it was possible for the Holocaust to be committed here. Oh yeah, and literally every second cab driver we encountered had a US Confederate Flag proudly displayed on their cab's dashboard. We learned later that the Confederate Flag is a politically acceptable alternative to the Nazi Swastika (which is banned by the government).
I have not had a bad experience with staring. Though I am aware of the"German stare".
The signal for "thank you" on the road is just a different one in Germany. And for the rules thing: We are taught to follow them e.g. use the right of way. The reason is to be predictable for the other drivers. But we are also taught to pay attention to our surroundings and what comes up ahead "vorausschauend Fahren". The threat to call the police is just weird to me. I have never even heard of anyone doing that at all in Germany and wouldn't have thought about the possibly racist reason, because doing that at all to anyone for almost any reason is just so weird to me.
Thank you. I look for any signal but none. Just a blank stare ahead and no acknowledgement. On very rare occasions I get the hand raise. My wife who was born in Germany warned me about that. Because its used as a way to scare immigrants if they don't have right to stay in the country. Unfortunately she also said its mostly the older folks and that was my experience.
The "if they do like you" is very important part 😂
VERY Important 🤣!!!
German-German kids face the issue of school track, too, but at least they don’t suffer from the potential immigrant bias…and thankfully parents get the last say. Generally speaking the track system isn’t bad but it would be more effective if the split were done two grades or so later…maybe track them all along Realschule and have them split at the end into vocational or academic training. And get rid of Hauptschule.
Yh, I think there may be an immigration bias. The stories on my Tiktok page are just outrageous.
You can only feel safe when you're out and about at night in Germany/Hamburg if you're a man. As a woman you are afraid, like in any other country🙁
Thats probably true 😔
I mean, it depends a lot on the district / the exact place you're walking around and the type of person you are. As a woman, I avoid walking around central station or in deserted parks at night, sure, but generally I feel very safe in Hamburg/Germany in general. (And at the same time I know quite a lot of men who also dislike roaming around central station at night, that place is just uncomfortable...) It might not be the safest country in the world but I think even as a woman you have plenty of options where you can move around at night and be safe
@@Agnes1322 A comment like that from a woman is often doubly bad. This cliché that it's up to the woman, her behavior, her clothes or her decisions if she feels or puts herself in danger is so misogynistic and anti-feminist. you are a disgrace, sister
You may feel afraid but is that fear justified? I wouldn't say women have to be as afraid in Germany as in any other country,. That's not right.
Hi, fellow Hamburger here. That you got the electric and gas utilities included in your rent is exceptional. Not unheard of, mind you, but still rare. That a rented house is sold and you are forced out is pretty much impossible. The only reason you might get forced out is the so-called "Eigenbedarf". That's when the owner of a (usually) one or two family home requires the part you rented for their own family. Even so they can't just kick you out from one month to the next. Depending on the length of time you've rented the same apartment or home you will get between three to six months. The length is determined by laws. Mind you, even Eigenbedarf/owner's requirements isn't easy to get through vs renters. There are quite a lot of renters' protection laws in place.
I know. My landlord is extremely generous. He lives next dorr and we have become good friends. I was lucky.
If the apartment is rented with all costs and furnished you can be cancelled faster
As a German i find it kinda funny that you metion that the rent is cheaper. As i live in a smaler City near Hamburg, rent in Hamburg seems astronomicaly high to me.
Oh you don't want to see the rents in London. And there is hardly any space to move around.
My wife and I visit London on a yearly base. We never felt unsafe in London. But when it comes to NHS I am glad that I am living in Germany.
Really!? I wish I had that bliss but I have seen too much to ever feel completely safe anywhere in London. I am not scared to be outside at whatever time but I am fully aware i need to be aware of my surrounding and on guard. I don't feel that in Hamburg at all. As for the NHS... Now I have experienced German healthcare, I see all the problems in hindsight.
I can see people with coulor but we all are the same race!
Absolutely, See people and their difference but ultimately we are all the same and want the same things in life.. On the most part.
Rather than running about and searching for a country where you will be liked; what about just going back to your country and join in making it more inhabitable.
I was born in Ghana. It’s is my country. I go there every other year to relax and be with my family there and have the best times ever. I lived In the UK 22 years, I still pay taxes and have a business and employment there, my mum, dad and siblings live there, I go there every 2 months and enjoy myself. it is my country. My wife is German born and raised so are my 2 daughters, I live in Germany now with them. We pay taxes, it is my adopted third country, I love it here, perfect for my young family. So you see I have 3 countries I spread my life across. So I have no idea what you are asking me to do. Enjoy your life. Let me enjoy mine. It’s not that hard. You sound miserable
I'm from England and live in Hamburg and I can definitely confirm that you almost never get a thank you when you let some on in whilst driving.
Thank you. Its not just me. I am still looking for the signs and I never get any signifying 'Thank you'. Or are we just expecting too much because we are used to a certain level?
Much Love from Northern Hamburg ❤
Much love from the East of Hamburg
And the mentality in the north of Germany like Hamburg is very straight talk, even as a German native speaker it is sometimes sounding rude, but mostly not meant to be.
I had to learn this quickly with my wife. She was born and raised in Hamburg.
Yeah i think it is a bit diffrent in the south or middel of germany.
You are not Black. You are African.
Race and ethnicity 🤦♀️ I'm a French Canadian black woman. I'm black a.k.a Noire
I am African, I’m also Black and I’m Ghanaian and British. NFO
Even the so called no go zones in Germany feel safer than pretty much the entire UK.
True. I laugh everytime my wife tells me "this is considered a 'bad neighbourhood'" in Hamburg.
Always good to hear positives about our country in these rough times. Thank you for sharing
My pleasure, definitely my 3rd Home now. Love it!
I lived a year in Hamburg and found the people not easy to connect, more distanced and cold than in south of Germany. That's my experience 🤷
They are not in general cold, you can break the ice easily very often - unless you are in the wrong neighbourhood. People in the south may seem more friendly superficially but are in average not very tolerant. People in the northern half of Germany will mostly be rather open-minded (small towns in the east of Germany probably have to be excluded here).
I am from the south of Germany. Went to Hamburg with 4 friends to do sightseeing and did a boar trip on the Elbe and the port. There was a group of people (5 coworkers) also on the boar, having a trip outside office and they had prosecco bottles, a cake, other sweets etc. Took us 5 minutes to connect and they invited us to have a good time with them. They shared their prosecco with us and their food. We had nothing with us. Just like that we had a great time with them. something like that has never happened to me in the south. They were blunt, funny and cool. Cannot agree with "distanced" :)
Hmm, haven't been South yet but funny enough I hear from people in the North that the people in the South are stuck up 🤷🏾♂️?
@@TheNameisPY I heard it exactly the other way round 😂
@@endlessstudent3512 well - everybody has his own experience. And they differ...🙂
With a friend who comes to your house and eats your food on a daily basis, I see some chance he's taking advantage of you 😂
Probably, I don't mid as long as they bring drinks.
