Question how do you know if the Skytrak+ is fully charged?

I use a single Flood light (~150W) pointing down to the ball for the mevo+ and I measured the lux and it's way over the minimum required. I can get 210fps without issues. boosting ISO and other settings will introduce way too much noise and thus the graininess..

Any info on the track lighting? No flicker so the bulb is compatible with the cameras. Amazon maybe?

Good video. Am waiting for black friday sales to pick up a PC for sim, which is arriving in a couple days. Youve helped me decide on a desktop. However, remaini guestion is whether i should pony up for a PC that supports 4k on high even though i only have a 1080p projector....so i can future proof that if i later upgrade my projector. Looking forward to your video on 4k.

I build computers every 2-3 years for gaming, video editing, I just got the Falcon, and the BenQ LK936ST, but mind that I also duplicate a 2nd monitor at 4k also. AMD 9700X (cause I want low TDP). RTX 4070 super. 32 RAM Mind that I've only just got this up and running for like a couple of days while I moved in and prepare the house. played a course at 4k 60pfs ultra settings. they did the driving range for about 1 hr with camera testing, left computer idling for 1hr while we ate, they then played a course for about 9 holes, then it started lagging. went down to "high" settings, and it was fine. I thought that my 4070 super would be fine even at ultra settings, but hmmm. making me rethink.

Good review but I have one question which you may be one of the few that can answer so I hope you see this I have had the Carl’s pro insert now for about a year. I also have an a mini like you and I have noticed using the view software that on swings where I strike the mat first, the ball can pop up in the air ever so slightly beating to a high center strike. Have you noticed this happening on either of the foam or the gel match they sell now? As an aside, I really wish they would consider putting a smoother surface along one edge for putting as overtime with any mat the hitting surface will get grooved and affect putt results.

Great video, covered just about everything I would’ve said myself. The real decision is budget versus needs versus wants. The only point I would add regarding a desktop would be to pay close attention to the specs on the graphics card in the desktop itself. There is nothing that prevents a manufacture from using the same NVIDIA laptop graphics chips (with less power) in a desktop PC. In my sim build I needed to go to a photometric launch monitor, which consumed a significant portion of my budget so I muddled through with an underpowered desktop for a while and opted for a low end 65” 4K Tv instead of a projector. Another need versus wants decision point is 1080 P or 4K so I will be interested in hearing your thoughts in that video. My first upgrade was to get a computer and I opted for a laptop because of my used case I got one with a 4070 graphics chip and have had little to no issues running it with GS pro at 4K ultra. I have to add though it’s stepping down to high graphics in GS pro doesn’t seem to make a lot of difference on most courses when displaying it on my TV screen.

I see this question asked all the time on the GSPro groups on Facebook so I made a video answering this as well. When I first built my sim, I used a laptop with a 3070 in it as I figured I could use that for GSPro and also use it for other things as well. It's a beast of a laptop and did fairly well, but like you, there were certain times it would start chugging in GSPro. Plus lugging it back and forth from the house to garage and having to plug in like 5 things every time got old fast. So I built a dedicated desktop for the sim which has a 4070 Super in it and I can run GSPro at 1080p Ultra with zero issues. I will be curious to see your opinion on the 4K and if it's worth it as this new desktop could run GSPro in 4K.

does either turf burn onto your clubs making them green? Does one punish fat shots more than the other to get better feedback? thanks

When u get a skyrak do you have access to all three versions at the same price?

I have done this same test. But my "gaming" pc is just an old Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio. Amazingly, all three work just fine. I did have a couple app closures when using the iPad (M4 iPad Pro). Best result is my M3 MacBook Pro, which runs it all flawlessly on maxed out graphics.

What did you do for seamless floor build to put even with super softy?

Nice review of the player preferred mat. Although one of the most expensive mats on the market, I went with the player preferred. I’ve noticed that the hitting area wears very easily. After only hitting on the mat for a few months, there is an indentation on the mat. Surprised for how expensive it is.

Does the sigpro softy grab the club like some of the cheaper mats or does the iron slide through the turf when striking ball like the fiberbuilt one? thanks

Great video. Did you do any kind of treatment to treat your tennis elbow? I've found that scraping with a cheap physical therapy tool once or twice a week has pretty much fixed mine.

So is the Sigprosofty still the best hitting strip? I don’t have injury concerns but if I can get a hitting strip less thick than the Sigprosofty and still just as good I would be happy

I've made a similar gel mat using moneyputt turf and motorcycle seat gel and found it had a similar amazing feel (really feels like hitting off a fairway after it rains), but also a tendency to cause some joint discomfort. Did Carl's give you any information about the warranty on these? I've found the short pile turf wears out relatively fast and I wouldn't want to be replacing a nearly $300 insert every time the turf wears out.

Thanks for the info. So if you had to choose between the Softy or this Gel for someone not crazy concerned with injury, which would you choose? I’m stuck between those two.

Timely review. Am debating the softy vs Carl's foam. My issue with Carl's is that their 5x7 mat doesn't actually have room for a LM. The insert is too close to the edge. Apparently they may fix that in the future to make it more like the softy

I wish you could switch off the target line in FSX Play and FSX Pro. It is useless if you use force plates and right and left handers stand on the plates. How can FSX 2020 work perfectly and the other 2 (play & pro) are so useless. Since 2022 they cannot fix FSX pro. No wonder it’s free. You pay peanuts you get a monkey.

I've owned the carls place c-series for about a year and played it alot. I bought the premium screen. The golf balls leaves marks on the screen. Almost burning it on from the spin (looks horrible) I have also put a hole on the bottom of the screen where you tighten that wire with a thined 3 wood. The screens are junk!

Any plans to try the new Carls Hotshot Gel in your new setup?

Have the Skytrak + been using it with GSPRO for over a year never a problem and the chipping and putting is spot on. In a round maybe miss one shot normally none. Those that trash the unit probably don't have it setup right. The shot delay is at most 1-1.5 seconds.

Mevo+ specifically states you should NOT have electronics in front of it. The Bushnel is jamming it. Your computer is also in front.

You don't even need to bridge the gap between the R10 and hitting surface. Mine works fine up on a small 2" platform at mat height behind me with nothing filling in the 8 foot gap between.

Is there a way to play against other people online?

Is this update limited to the SkyTrak + or is it available on the original SkyTrak as well ?

I feel like GSPro need to invest in doing this. It would be a gamechanger to be able to run it on an M1+ Macbook/Mac mini

Great video, really detailed and just what I needed as I'm trying to figure out the best way to go for my purpose. I'm in the process of trying to figure out a way to build a golf sim under my large carport. Can this kit be left outdoor? It would be covered but would get some rain that would blow in occasionally. Also, how difficult would this be to take down? I live in Florida so I'm thinking probably a couple of times I'd want to disassemble.

Great video. You mentioned that your Mac has an M1 chip. Which chip does your iPad Pro have? I just bought a SkyTrak + and I’ll be buying an iPad for it in the next few days. I was thinking about an iPad Pro with M4. Appreciate your videos. They are always well done.

While they need to work on the putting and how the ST+ recognizes all-white putters, it looks like you can use the software across all platforms without any additional licensing. That’s a win. Is there a way to report what you’re experiencing with your Spyder putter? I look at how people reacted to the MLM2Pro when it first came out and all of its issues just over a year ago. People had all types of complaints and were sending it back. I have a feeling that will be the case with the ST+. I have a feeling a year from now - their course software will be a lot more fun to play.

Damn where did you snag that gspro hat? Mine doesnt have the mesh style and doesnt have the clasps, it's just a flex fit which usually stretches too much over time :(

I see your Robox controller sitting off to the side. I was considering getting one of those, but I’m worried that I won’t find it very efficient or perhaps lacking in the control you get with a mouse. Your thoughts?
