Seven days after spreading cover crop seed from Mountain Valley Seed Company
Просмотров 66Год назад
Mountain Valley Seed Company Cover Crop Mixture purchased through Amazon September 26th 2022. I spread the seed September 29th 2022 and this shows the growth progress as of October 6th 2022 I didn't spread the seed very evenly. I have scratched in additional seed after recording this video.

Cover Crops Gone Wild! Nude Winter Rye! Fully Shaved Vetch
Просмотров 1037 лет назад
Really I just mower down the cover crop. Winter Rye by itself would have been nice. The addition of Hairy Vetch just made it look a mess. I've mowed it down and starting to rototill the area to plant grass seed I guess. I didn't want to till anymore but grass seed won't do well without the residue removed first.
Three Weeks of Neglected Garden
Просмотров 77 лет назад
With such a large audience and my mastery of videography I should start a blog. For now this will have to suffice. This is what happens when I neglect the garden in favor of other things. Living by a fairly busy road sucks too as it throws a lot of dust onto the front of the house. It's a non-stop battle to stay on top of everything. This was a trial year for the cover crops. Next year will be ...
Garden Tour 5pm June 25th 2017

Just a tour of the garden starring Sadie. The plants that grew from dropped seed last year are doing as well or better than plants that were started weeks before the last frost date. Corn plants by the pieces of wood are all varieties from University of Hawaii. I just wanted to see what they could do here. Conditions are not good for them as that area gets half the direct sunlight that the rest...
Wind and Rain Knocked Down My Winter Rye
Просмотров 117 лет назад
Regular thunderstorm blew over most of my remaining winter rye and hairy vetch cover crop. Because the stem of the rye likely is not crimped it should continue to grow above ground. I'm not sure what I'm going to do from here. I'll probably cut most of it down and continue to use it for mulch.
Growing soil with winter rye and hairy vetch

Just raw video of winter rye and hairy vetch that was seeded approximately October 2016 This video was recorded June 13, 2017 To me it looks like the rye that you see from the outside of the fence is the closest to going to seed which is what I want to to with the remaining winter rye. The grass you see outside the fence is just sparsely seeded annual ryegrass that you would buy to seed a regul...

Planting Corn Seeds Into Ground With Winter Rye Cover Crop
Просмотров 1597 лет назад
All of this is experimental. You see it as I see it. It looks like a mess to many, but in reality it's building the soil and helping to bring this former lawn area back to life. Showing how I planted into ground that had winter rye, hairy Vetch, and other cover crop that had been growing upright just before this video. I didn't plan enough in advance what I wanted to do so I'm not about two wee...
Cover Crops - Another look at Winter Rye, Hairy Vetch, Crimson Clover,

This is just another look at my 2017 cover crop of mostly Winter Rye and Hairy Vetch. There is also some Crimson Clover and others that I don't recall as of now. I attempted to show the Winter Rye beginning to create seed. From what I understand the seed heads start from the middle and work outwards. As you can see in some shots there are yellow flower-like pieces showing. I don't know what the...

There is just something about gardening that causes a person to collect things. I'm not sure what it is other than you obtain something for gardening and realize it can continue to be used for the same purpose. Buy a potted plant and you get a plant and a reusable pot. Find some free wood and you realize you can use it as fencing, markers, or whatever. The goal of this video is to show my start...

The goal of this video is to show my starting point for this channel. My starting point for the garden was really three years ago before I video recorded much of anything. Perhaps l can post a video of pictures from earlier days up until present day May 19, 2017 What you see here is my first real attempt at cover crop and no-till gardening. The tall grass is Winter Rye. The multi-leaved plant that is climbing the rye is Hairy Vetch, and there are some other cover plants as well. Others are Crimson Clover and whatever else is in Johnnys Seeds fall manure seed mix. You'll see many other plants that we're purposely planted in the past and have now returned perennially, as well as Tomato and Squash plants that we're grown from seed indoors and just recently transplanted into the garden.
