Just did this but brought my spark plug socket from work so it was a 16mm not a 14mm lol. Also easier to turn the crank with the plugs out, I could not for the life of me turn it with a normal 3/8" ratchet. Really not a bad job, with familiarity maybe takes 30 mins tops to get all the stuff removed. I bought some hondabond HT for the sealant.

I'm having the same exact problem with my 13' Fit. But I'm having a hard time getting the red wire to release from the little white unit. Is there an easier way to get it to come out? I've tried a paper clip and a safety pin. No luck.

HI! I found your video googling the issue I´m having. My honda fit when unlocked, keeps trying to unlock itself. When locked, thanks god it stays locked without issues. I cannot make it "do this glitch" as you do, by using the wipers or the horn. What would be your advice? Thank you.

Please, nobody ever perform this type of repair hundred percent nonsense. Just remove the 8 mm screw for the back panel to loosen it up and pop the clips out. You should have enough room having to remove the wiper to remove and insert the new handle.

Nice video and explanation. I'd recommend stainless nuts and bolts if you live in the rust belt like I do. My flanges have a lot less metal left than yours, you were lucky. Trying to figure out how I can avoind having to buy a new cat converter just to have decent flange. Welding will be tough because that would mess up the smooth groove the steel gasket fits within.

Simple and tool put away was the key to this!

UPDATE- I just replaced my handle on a 2010 Fit, you don't have to bend the linkage. Don't remove the wiper arm either, just pry up the black cover from the drivers side that will release 2 clips (if they break replace them) and you will be able to get the handle in and out without any problem. I put never-sieze all over that pin, spring and plastic hopefully it will extend the life keeping rusting to a minimum. That pin should have been made from stainless steel.

Oh my god! My 09 hatch has been crap for 5 years and the last 3 I literally couldn’t open it anymore. I watched a few videos several years ago and once they got to removing external plastic and wiper arm I quit thinkin about it. This seriously works! I didn’t it 15 minutes and didn’t break anything but my knuckle loosening the first bolt. Smooth sailing now! Only 10$ in 2024! Thank you!!!

If you read the MSDS on the LPS3 gallon bulk it is 50% mineral spirits and 10% paraffin and the rest is probably mineral oil. So it says tacky and is not as hard as cosmoline. It can be sprayed from a pump sprayer bottle due to the mineral spirits. So this can easily be made as DIY undercoating for way cheaper - and then just applied more frequently. Only the mineral spirits is flammable - so should be done outside and let it evaporate for a couple nights I would think - minimum.

I have a 2015 honda city which is having the exact same issue with the same symptoms that you mentioned Honking the horn or rolling up the windows (even the passenger window switches) causes the locks to cycle a few times, I noticed it happens way more when it's cold outside. Do you think I could fix the issue the same way you demonstrated? And why do you think this issue comes up in the first place?
