2024 Big Bear Run Holcomb Creek. Here is some footage of all of the hard parts of Holcomb. The rock gardens are much more dug out than last year, but still plenty doable. This was around mile 80 of the ride.

All the hill climbs on Redonda Ridge. This trail gets me every year. Its hot with no shade and the hill climbs seem endless. It is easily my least favorite trail of the event.

The hardest dirt bike trail in Utah? 5 Miles of Hell!

5 Miles of Hell is the most difficult and technical single track trail I have ridden to date. Non-stop slick rock obstacles for 8 miles. It was a great ride with some nice people I met at the trail head. Thanks for the company guys!

How dangerous is dirt biking A single track alone?
Просмотров 9198 месяцев назад
This was a really nice trail out in Utah, although I am riding solo again. Do you ride alone? Why or why not? What do you do to keep safe on the trail? What do you take with you to mitigate risk? Whether it is enduro or dual sport, what is your opinion on tackling a nice dirt bike trail by yourself?

Dirt Biking Big Bear CA. Big Bear Dual Sport Ride 2023!
Timberline is a BLAST! I'm in NJ so only get out to Taylor Park every couple years but this is a favorite of mine!!
Sick! What trail is this?
It’s a riding area South of Vegas. Tons of trails out there! Nelson NV.
Great video man, are you doing the ride this year too? I was looking to tag along a small group who’s done it before I didn’t wanna go solo my first time. I’m down for hard ways too!
Not riding this year. I sold the big bike! Maybe next year. I might go up and film you guys riding Rocky Gap this time.
INSANE!
Great trail. I highly recommend it!
Hi, nice park, ride and riding . You might concider a bigger bike . My xr650l will tractor up that shit for sure , more torch . I have trails like that and a bit steeper a few blocks from my house . My Sons xr400 tares right up that stuff also , any smaller bikes dont have enough torch, my buddys 250 wont do it and kids friend has 140 cc pocket bike barely gets up it . Safe riding :)
Those big bikes are so dang heavy! I’m too old to be muscling them things around!
@@hannonenduro Gotcha I seen some more of your vids cool stuff , nice riding looks like you bikes doing well . How old are you ? I'm 58 I hear ya on the heavy red pig lol. Ride safe .
Thanks for posting the full video of Star Trail. I’ve never ridden it but my riding buddies said it’s HARD. I’ve done all of Timberline, so I want to try this next time I come to Colorado. Keep tearing it up bro!
If you can do Timberline you can handle Star trail!
This my go to video to gwt ready for lbv. This year will be number 4 for me and the first time attempting the steps. Did you sit or stand?
I’ve been working on becoming a stand up rider. You are always better off standing up. For the steps just stand up and keep some momentum and you will go right up. Have fun out there!
@hannonenduro hopefully I'll see you there this year, 2023 ktm 500 excf all black
exactly what i was looking for, did the hard single track it was terrible, need to find how to get to this place! looks like you can go from mirror lake up to the single track trailhead?
Yup, there is a trail head by the restrooms by mirror lake. Great place to ride up there!
I just did this run yesterday on my klr I have 5 months of riding experience in general been on dirt trails about 10 times dropped the bike about 7 times learned a lot ! Wow u making it loook o so easy obviously very capable machine and you have much more experience but I learned a lot watching your video! I’m not gonna lie I walked my bike down almost the whole way down cold creek but beautiful ride . Painful tooo hahaha . Great content ! Safe riding !
Keep it up! The best way to get better is to get some rides in. Remember, every rider out there started with no experience and struggled just like you. I’m still learning myself!
Timberline is the real deal ! Try doing it when those rocks and roots are WET !
It’s a great trail! I want to go back now that I’m standing up more.
@@hannonenduro Get UP on those pegs and good things will happen !
I just went up the "bailout" on my t7... 😂😂. What a horrible idea
Yea it’s a little nicer going down!
hello, are you able to explain how the days are organized? curious to know is there a lunch stop every single day? and what is the mileage during the before lunch section and then the mileage for after lunch section? Thank you!
There is lunch in the second day only. It’s about 40mi before and 40mi after lunch. It’s a fun ride!
@hannonenduro how about the 1st and 3rd day? is there a break half way during the ride?
@@johnmtb5888 No, just the long day. The other 2 days are only 40 miles.
@hannonenduro oh so first day is 120 miles and no break? but is there a refueling stop? sorry to ask so many specifics. the website has no specifics about the nevada 200 only about the idaho ride.
I did this trail after having broken one of my fingers earlier in the ride, coming from the opposite direction you started from. The lack of clutch control and pain made this section brutal. Would love to do this trail again without an injury, it was beautiful.
That is one of my favorite CO trails. Yes the Rocky section is tough!
great riding
Thanks!
Cool Video!!
Thanks!
Thanks for posting your experience. I'm headed to that area later this month with a few buddies. This and some of your other videos helped mentally prepare me for what to expect.
I’m glad the videos helped! You should enjoy it up there, it’s a nice place to ride.
What time of year was this? These trails are awesome!
I don’t remember on this trip but spring and fall are best. It gets pretty hot out there in the summer and shade is at a premium!
@@hannonenduro how long did it take you to do the whole loop? My friends and I are trying to decide if we can squeeze in Cliffhanger on the same day that we do this loop.
@@xerophinity It’s been a while but seems like you should be able to do it in a few hours. Depends on how fast you ride.
oh, also was this the easy way or the hard way? Thanks
oh - it's in the title! LOL !!! looks like the easy way
Yup, that is the hard ways. I miss the silt beds and water crossings, but I think a lot of people complained about it being too hard. So, this is now what the hard ways is. Just a lot of sand washes.
what bike are you on?
I was riding a ‘19 Husky 501 on that trip.
Great video !
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing!
You bet!
Do you ride solo out there ? I wanted to go to Moab for 20 years and finally got to go with a group from Maryland 2 years ago but I want to go back and can’t find any one to go, I was thinking of just going by myself but don’t know if that’s a good idea
I do ride solo, but it’s always better with a group. If you do go by yourself go prepared and don’t ride a trail beyond your abilities.
Do you know where I can find previous year, or any from the past few years hard way GPS tracks? I'd like to try with some friends. Thanks
You know, I haven’t saved any of my tracks. I think if you are a decent rider you should just ride the event. It’s not super difficult, just long days on the bike. You won’t regret it, I promise! You will meet a lot of good people and make some awesome memories!
Do yall carry bear spray with yall
Nope. Never saw a bear up there.
Looking for a door Atv trail to take the wife on what’s the fastest way to that atv trail? Not sure where you started looks different than where I normally start tline from
I started at the trailhead on Mirror Lake Rd. At the bathrooms.
15:42 whatever settings you used. Looks phenomenal!! Didn’t even notice that bright into dark issue til you mentioned it. Didn’t even know that was a thing.
Thanks! Just doing a little research make a big difference in video quality.
I live on the east coast and was trying to get out to Moab for 20 years and finally made it 2 years ago and this video reminds me how fun it was , if I could get at least one of my lazy friend to go I’d be there tomorrow, what a great time it is riding out there
You have to go at least once in your life right? I’m glad you made it because it is such a unique place to ride.
I always wonder if riders actually stick to the gps tracks or get "close enough"... i passed a bunch of people on gold mountain and john bull then didnt see anyone out in the desert foreverrr
I’m sure they do so they don’t miss a checkpoint.
Did this trail from South to North after coming down from Marshall pass on the Continental divide trail. Doesn't sound so bad, until I tell you my riding buddy was a 80 year old man, on a Beta 125 fourstroke trail bike with almost no ground clearance. Was brutal, I had to keep walking back and riding his bike. Trail is rough.
Yea it’s rough down in the bottom!
Sweet video, feels like the camera doesn't do this climb justice!
It doesn’t. Those hills are steep!
Id get lost
GPS just in case!
I’ve been riding that trail for 35 years, but after turning 60 a couple years ago it’s not all that fun anymore. Rode it a month ago, for the last time, I think I’d rather punch myself in the nuts than ride it again. You youngins can have it.
Yea, I don’t like it. Hot and miserable. 😂
Have you ever been able to complete the whole ride?
Four years in a row and no finishes yet. Next year!
@hannonenduro ill be there next year 👍 If you find anyone with a teal phone case on their number plate + teal backpack + blue pants & shirt + black helmet, there is a chance that it might be me also I kave a ktm 250, but my cousin might be using it, and like half the people there also have ktms so it isnt very different from everyone else
You’re my new hero. Epic ride right there. I’d bail too. You were tractering super good. The kids have been taking me on some fun flowy stuff. Gods country.
It is beautiful up there. Can’t wait to go back!
you should get there couple days early pre ride the spot and just move a bunch of rocks for a easier path... lol
I need a road crew in front of me
Crazy how much easier it is the other way IMO
I have never rode this the other way but I’m sure it is a bit easier. Although going down this stuff is no picnic.
Dude, you ride like a champ, love it, and awesome for me to see how the right amount of throttle (sometimes just a little) can get you past some nasty sections. Makes me want to try a second loop on a Hare and Hound again here in CA. Well done my friend.
Thanks! Yea slip the clutch a bit and keep the tire from breaking traction. Works pretty good!
Good job getting that far in that heat
Thanks!
Hey man! That trial was fun! I was the guy talking with you before the line of people going up to the rocky section
It was a butt kicker! Did you finish?
Do you have a trail tech fan? If so what do you set your at temp wise? Thanks
It’s not a Teail-tech. I think it’s a Spal. I’m not sure what temp it comes on at. It came on the bike.
@@hannonenduro great riding looks like a fun trail.
Thats my buddy Garrett that passed you and had the trail mix 🤙
Nice! Super nice guy. Did he finish?
Your "wonder why I do this..." face is exceptionally accurate. 1000 mile gaze to who knows where.
Ha! It’s that “I’m only half way through this trail” look!
Been waiting patiently for these uploads. Cannot wait to do it next year. You made this section look like fun man, nice work.
I’ll see you out there next year. I’m gonna give it another go!
These are great videos. I didn’t run a GoPro. So I’ve been sharing all these with all by buddies asking how the ride was lol
Take a GoPro next time and share the experience! I love watching vids of these rides. Gets me motivated!
where is it?
Somewhere in Big Bear. Not sure exactly even though I was there lol. Trail map will get you there.
@@hannonenduro thanks brother! look awsome. if you're ever in israel - i'll take you riding in some crazy places!
That looked tough with no shade. I'll stick to the high country of Colorado in the hot months. Good job getting up that in that heat!
Colorado is my favorite place to ride!
@@hannonenduro same here, and it's my home
Subscribed! That looks fun! Where can i find this trail? Id love to ride it
You can find it on a Big Bear trail map. I was there but not sure how I got there!
Thanks for posting. What time did you get into Holcomb? I breached in at 12:30-1300. Got to check point 4 at 4:19. Aka was too late to finish the rest.
I don’t remember what time it was. I bailed after Holcomb though.
Hope I didn't hold you up. I was the teal bike in front of you when you entered. I got stuck in a hole and was so tired near the exit I couldn't lift my bike out. My buddy rode it out for me. The only time he had to ride my bike out. First time attempting this ride. Timed out on the last check. I probably was too tired to complete the last check even if I wanted to so skipped it and rode the short way out. Still 190 miles. My buddy did the last hard check and he said it was knarly. He got back about 7:45p
That is awesome you made it that far. I bailed after Holcomb. Had heat cramps so bad! You didn’t hold me up, I was just resting lol. We finish next year!
What time did you start this section? Trying to figure out what time we need to make it to the gas stop to have a chance of finishing
I think around noon. If I didn’t have overheating issues I still could have finished. In my opinion this is the worst trail of the ride. I was making good time until here.
@@hannonenduro for me the worst trail of the day was by far, Pontiac Hill. Mile 160ish, hot and a steep boulder filled hill that seemed to go on forever. It did look like you were riding really well. Tough luck to have bike issues. Better luck next year! Nice vids that capture the spirit of the ride!
@@slowredd6258 I was curious about Pontiac Hill. Maybe next year!
