  • For those of you that skipped the "unofficial" hard route of Rocky Gap this year here is what you missed. Pretty much the same as any other year in my opinion, with a little more washouts on the East side of the pass. See you at the next LAB2V!

    A vegas favorite. The rock crawling/hard enduro route is taking the creak on the left at 3:24 all the way to the base of the mountain. It zig-zags back and forth across the forest road.

      It’s my favorite way to get to Red Rock from Pahrump!

    I'd gladly skip some of the route from Barstow to be able to ride Red Rock.

      I hear ya. Red Rock is not bad, except you’re already tired when you get there.

    Nice video, I'd like to do this event sometime. I've ridden the south part of NVBDR and CABDR South, so I think I'd be not in too bad shape to give this a go on my 500 exc.

      I left at around 6am. Early start in the dark. But I got to Vegas in the daylight.

    Rocky gap was always a hard route to begin with, but it was fairly easy with some skills. But after hurricane Hilary and the storms of 2023 its become pretty much impossible to travel for anything outside of a light weight motorcycle or monster truck.

    Any tips for me, as I'd like to try this as my 1st long distance, off road journey? I'm planning to buy a new-ish DR650, as my other has seen better days, and I'm curious what sort of protection and options I should definitely have on the bike?
    Also, what sort of GPS do you use?

    • @hannonenduro
      @hannonenduro  4 месяца назад +1

      It’s just a really long ride on a lot of 2 track so a stock DR650 should be just fine without a lot of add ons. I would make sure you are proficient at fixing flats if you are running tubes. And get some time in the saddle before the ride.
      I use a garmin 66i GPS. It works for my riding trips and also hiking. It has the GPS texting and tracking options (monthly subscription) and SOS, so I’m never out of contact.
      Good luck out there and have fun!

      @@hannonenduro Thanks for the info! I’ve always had trouble pinching tubes when changing flats, but I’ll be sure to get some practice on some old wheels and tires I have around the garage. I’ll be sure to take a look at that GPS unit, too!
