I went on a 36-minute walk starting from the Sainsbury's Local store in Preston, Paignton. I went down Manor Road, passed the Redcliffe Hotel, then walked on the beach until I reached Paignton Pier. From there, I walked along Eastern Esplanade, crossed Esplanade Road, and continued on Torbay Road. I ended the walk by going through Paignton town centre and finishing up at the bus station. Paignt...
Oldway Mansion Walk, Autumn 2023. Paignton, Torbay, Devon.

I started my walk in the beautiful gardens of Oldway Mansion, located next to Torquay Road. It's interesting to think about the Singer family and their connection to the property, given their notoriety for the Singer Sewing Machine. However, it's sad to see how the mansion has fallen into disrepair due to neglect over the years.

Brain test ahh beatbox 🔥😭 💀
you have literally followed the route we used to do when we did cross country running at school. One year the area was flooded and was at least 2 feet deep but we were still expected to go through it
Lovely to see so many people we came last year when it was on and just missed seeing them by minutes as we were on the train coming and just missed them flying back to Exeter and also have missed this year as we are 13th of June to Beverly park our favourite holiday destination.
That was lovely, wasn't to keen on the backwards filming as l was on a treadmill. But the sounds of the birds and the water has made me smile. Thank- you👍
The accompanying birdsong was delightful. Could anyone tell me what species of bird it is which is singing and trilling the loudest in the woods? It's been so long since I lived in the UK that I don't have a clue any more.
I think it’s a Blackbird
@@robmulcahy317 I love blackbird song. For some reason I didn't think this was a blackbird, but maybe a song thrush. Thanks!
@@carolinewiggins2803 You could be right
@@robmulcahy317 I had a short listen online of a song thrush. Doesn't sound the same. Anyway, whatever it was it's nice to listen to!
Walked this route may times when I used to live in Paignton up until 1959 when I left home at 18, thanks for the memories .. atvb t ..
Are you allowed dogs on that beach in the summer?
The beach to the south, South Sands is dog friendly from 1st October through to 30th April, but dogs are allowed on North Sands all year round. At low tide, North Sands is a large expanse of soft golden sands for dogs to run and play on
No
Great walk!
Miss Torquay so much moved 2years ago can't wait to visit miss going harbour hoping to go next month few nice memories there
Fawlty Towers sent me here, lovely, no wonder the hotel was always busy ;-)
Божественный климат и природа на такой северной широте
A great walk.
Are the kissing gates wide enough to let a wheelchair through them?
Used to live there missing it so much can’t wait to go back
Molto bello
Been looking at Homes in Devon, Torquay Past Weeks, Bn in Manchester 25yrs this Month, & That was An Interesting Pleasant-ish, Tree & Shrub-less Walk, *Read Sarah Strong Few Below. Quite Sad No Birds or Song No More.. :-( Removing ALL the Trees Idiots!, you'd of thought they'd of just removed a few NOT the Whole Lot, :-( Would be interesting to know how long the walk actually takes.. ?
You would be forgiven if you thought you were beside the Mediterranean
I have done this walk many times and still enjoy it, I moved here from London 37 years ago.
Wow so very nice and beautiful impressive views.. 💞😍😘💓❤🎉🎊💘
Beautiful walk! Stunning views!
Beautifully filmed .
Well filmed!
As a youngster regularly visiting Torquay in the 60s and 70s and into the 80s. I adored the original gorgeous Rock Walk with masses of palms, shrubs and trees. Of an evening, under floodlighting, it was truly enchanting. When I discovered that it had been destroyed I largely lost interest in Torquay and rarely visit now. I'm sad about such a great loss.
Same, miss the 'fairy gardens' that were always full of families in the 80s. And what is that monstrosity they've built where the palm court once stood? I know it burned down (like a lot of old buildings in torquay, under 'suspicious circumstances") but they could at least have replaced it with something more in keeping with the Italianate victorian villas that for me define torquay. Why do seaside towns always seem to have crap councils who have absolutely no idea of what makes these places special? (I live in Scarborough and am still passed off that they tore down the Futurist theatre rather than restoring it.)
Been down there last five years running love it there can't wait to go down again
I cried to see what has become of the once beautiful Rock Walk. Cool and shady with beautiful shrubs and small trees, palm trees and benches set back in intimate nooks where gaps for an outlook onto Bay views could be enjoyed. At night it became a romantic fairy land, as the flood lights in many colours lit up the foliage. It is now a sad travesty of it's former self, a waste and scrubland of weeds and bramble.Ugly in the extreme, a symphony to commercialism, and an attitude of if it don't pay, scrap it.
I agree Glenda spent many times there in the 70s & was such a magical place. It's a mess now.
Was there last October coming back this year ,cannot wait 15 days and counting ,I love the English Rivera have had many great holidays over the years ,everyone so friendly, and gave done this walk will do again this year .
💜😪💔
My favourite places in the whole of the UK-Thanks

Brings back fond memories in Paignton! Thank you for this lovely content 😎
i preferred the way the rocks looked before but i suppose its elf n safety init
lovely smooth footage, not all shakey like when i film a location
I used to live in Torquay between 2006 and 2011.
Torbay is filled with dark crimes where even police are involved
Oh, please don't spoil the plot!
Beautiful video
Use to live there when I was a kid, one day I will go back
We were there in April and October, in April there was a Big wheel and by the time we came back in October the Big wheel had gone 😭😭😭😭😭

Very smooth video what kit do you use. I love to walk the same paths.Watching from Leicestershire on a dark winters night.
PHEW!!! Worn out after that long walk ;-) Brilliant!!
Which part has the most Palm trees? id like to travel to all of it but im in a wheelchair and can't go very far along promenade and all over Torquay, as much as id like to; hope to go there next year, cheers
Around the harbour by the theatre is probably the best for you. Its flat and accessible with plenty of trees and views.
I was there 1963 then 1964 I hope to go back before I die.
Never go back you will be dissapointed we have all been their
Well, you won't be able to go back after you die, that's for sure! (Or maybe you will.....🤔👻)
Really nice .. thanks 👌
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you. So homesick...
Same here...
If staying in Torquay & interested in history a good place to visit is Plympton St Maurice, this ancient town was the original port of Plymouth before it silted up. The old castle, guildhall & grammer school are worth a visit, the castle meadow is a great place for a picnic & there are three pubs. Despite being rich in history it is free of the crowds that make a visit to Totnes so bothersome now.
