Mini Cooper Countryman S All4 Timing Chain Tensioner Replacement. I had the death rattle in my R60 and N18 engine and everything I read or watched said it was a bad timing chain. I finally found one mechanic on RUclips that recommended a tensioner replacement. Because I saw that video I saved myself well over $2000. I made this video to help aware people and save money. Please don't waste your money I regret it! The wife and I have to sit inches from it for warmth and it's a pellet hog terrible efficiency
@@victorforte1605 mine is rusting out also and I keep it covered with a grill cover. Produces no heat
@@victorforte1605 mines rusting out and I keep it covered. No heat passed 3ft
How does it handle? Are the side walls stiff enough?
@@NajaOrangeBird I kid you not it handled exactly the same. I would drive it hard in the corners and it was great.
@@tfletchera87 thank you! That's exactly what I wanted to know. Even though people complain about the stock run flats the car handled the best with them. Last two sets of non-runflats has been soggy. I've been wanting to put the falken s or nittos on because I'm in the mountains and dirt roads about 50% of the time. Both brands make a 225/55/17 which would be perfect for me.
@@NajaOrangeBird I mean nothing will be as good as a lower profile tire but I never noticed it or regretted it.

We're you from
Where not we’re. I’m from TN.
Is this a simple bolt in? And where'd you get the replacement part?
@@JA-yc8yr so yes it’s simple. Just unscrew the bolt. I can’t remember where I got it. I think I had autozone order it. It was $50 when I changed it so hopefully it’s not more expensive now
👍
did your "death rattle" go away when car is warm? mine is only noise during cold start.
No it was definitely the tensioner bolt. As soon as I changed it you could tell it was gone. It was basically slop in the chain slapping the valve cover
How much for tires?
I can’t remember tbh
Awesome video man! Your videos help me out a lot with my build. Quick question, where did you get that bar that the tie rod connects to? I'm looking at all my parts and I don't see it. Did it come with your donor or did DF send it?
Should be supplied by DF
Just my thoughts. The standard size for these cars on an 18 inch wheel is 235/60. What concerns me is that the 60 measurement is the sidewall height. If you change the height of the tyre it will affect the accuracy of the speed sensor. I would have no issue with the 255 if there were enough clearance on a 60, but I am guessing that the compromise of the wider tyre meant you couldn't do a 60 tyre without it rubbing on the shock. I would rather have the correct circumference than have the extra width. Plus, the width will be more impactful on the MPG, and when aired down, then there might be rubbing when the tyre belly's out a bit more. A narrower or standard size tyre will allow better traction in mud and snow. That's why rally cares have narrow studded tyres in snow and mud stages. I have been looking at my options, because I have the 20 inch wheels and was to change them for 18 inch, but I'm yet to find an example where somebody has fitted the K02 in standard size, on the black FK721007CB wheel. They are available, so it surprises me that there aren't any videos. It's great to see somebody fitting offroad tyres and making the Sport a bit more like a Freelander 2. I will be doing the same. I already have my tent and other gear mounted on mine, and for now am running M+S JLR tyres.
Sadly the car was totaled during a deer hit. Hardly had a chance to use them. Enjoyed the look but the mpg loss was heavy and the ride was terrible.
@@tfletchera87 Hi tom, I'm really sorry to hear that. I lived in the US for about 11 years and had some near misses with deer myself. I was very lucky. I hope you didn't suffer any injuries. All the best
Looks great! 🤙🏼I have the stock 19” rims and want all terrain tires so bad but dont want to lift it. Any suggestions? Current size 225/45/19.
Run my exact set up. K02 ride to rough
I was going to but you have 17” rims i couldnt find any wild peaks that would fit my 19” was looking at 225/55/19 that was the closest size online. Unless maybe im missing something?
@@illwillscuts you might get away with the 55 width. I’d try to find some 17s cheap on Marketplace.
How long can it run before the burner clogs and needs cleaning?
I can run a full hopper without cleaning catch tray
Ordered a Chimnea and put it together yesterday. After I was finished I noticed one of the legs was not welded correctly. I had to return it to TSC. Too bad the quality is not as good as my Timber Stove.
That’s a pretty large price difference for comparison lol but hey I’m glad you found one you’re happy with.
It gets better. TSC actually offered it to me for $150.00. I picked it up and noticed one of the glass panels was defective. I returned it again. Complete P.O.S.@@tfletchera87

lol no. I’m not sure why you even thought that? Was I not loud enough? I certainly was going to yell like I would outside. Elaborate and I’ll do better next time I guess
@@tfletchera87 Good video! I would ignore the troll
@@natebva thank you!
I have seen the tall one at Tractor Supply and was not impressed with the flimsy thickness of the metal. Is the short one of the same guage? Maybe it wasn't screwed together well (but it seemed mighty flimsy).
I think it wasn’t bolted down tightly enough. I have heard no complaints in build quality. The one I saw in person was also really solid. The little one is definitely a tank. I’m just super disappointed with heat output
did yours come with receiver hitch? Do you know where to get one?
No it didn’t. E trailer has them.
Maybe if you live in Florida where you're burning a fire because it got down to a chilly 70 degrees this might be a good unit. However if you live in the north, this thing is useless! I got one today, built it and it's a joke. Basically have to stand on top of it to stay warm when it's in the high 30s. I have had it running for over an hour and I'm returning it to TSC tomorrow. It's made for people that don't know what an actual fire is.
Yeah in no way would I have purchased it living up there. I would return it too.
Can I use that short one to put under my deck area? My desk to the first joist is like 78 inches.
I think you could definitely do that.
I think I deleted a comment on accident. No you don’t have to open the valve cover to hold the timing chain in place.
Which one do you think would heat a patio best i am torn between the two of which one to get
I’d get the short one for sure. Not a lot of heat off of either units but the only reason I would choose the taller one is if I need to move it around a lot.
That Chiminea is GREAT! I picked one up last month. We put it on a large covered porch, with over 9 ft ceiling at peak. Made sure to put it on a granite remnant to protect the floor. Made sure to have rear clearance of 3 ft. I LOVE IT. Radiant heat, you can snuggle up to it and it looks great. I had thought about the Patio Heater, but was concerned about the height. This lil dude is not tall and therefore the heat, which rises to the cap too, adds to the warmth... just perfect. Easy operation and $100 CHEAPER than the patio heater. Now I want them to make a smaller version of this to take camping.
I like mine a lot and have thought about moving it under our ceiling on the porch to see if it help with heat
Have you tried a fan yet? You know one of those thermal fans you just place on top. I saw this stove at my local TSC and wonder if it would be better than my little $90 propane fire pit, Or if I should just buy a bigger pit.
I haven’t tried a fan yet but honestly If heat is your main concern I’d buy something else. I love it but you need to stand right beside it to feel the warmth
Hello, can you tell me how much smoke it gives off? Thanks
None. Unless you smother the fire
Do you just close vents to "shut it off" if pellets still in hopper?
Yes! Very important to close it before getting hopper to low. Pellets tend to build up on side walls and if you let it get really low the pellets avalanche and can smother fire creating a giant smoke cloud that sucks to deal with.
The chunkier tyres definitely make all the difference. I have a Mini Paceman with the exact same sized 60 tyres on it it makes the car more rugged looking and a smoother ride. I noticed just changing the tyres added around an inch to the car height. That’s without any lift kit done on it.👍👍👍
Yeah it’s exactly as you described. Thanks for watching
At first I was like...why am I sub'ed to this channel, then I had to look back at your videos....so what happned to the "Goblin"?
It’s still very much a thing. I have a new engine from zzp ready to install. It’s at a buddy’s shop. We plan to strip it down and re-powder coat everything. Don’t give up on me yet George. Things will be popping again in a few months. My buddy also built an Ariel Atom from the original plans using a K series motor. I’ll be doing videos of it soon as well.
Why is chimney spelled so weird?
I had an engineer ask me that same question
What is the torque spec when you put the new one on
I think it was 50lbs
When you pop off the original molding piece, does it come off easily? You don't show how you take that off
Mine didn’t come with the trim covers so that’s why you didn’t see me take them off. Real easy to remove though. They are pressed on with clips so you can remove them with plastic trim tool by prying them up.
Okay great, I'm going to have to get up there and take a look. Thanks! @@tfletchera87
@tfletchera87 mine just came off at the car car wash. They are easy to remove. I'm getting this type of bars too. I'm just wondering about the open gap.
@@luissantis2406 what about the open gap?
Does this model throw off a good amount of heat?
Unfortunately no. It would do well in a semi enclosed area but doesn’t project it out well at all.
@tfletchera87 I appreciate your honesty I'll probably try something that throws more heat off. Thanks again for getting back to me and doing the video.
Do you happen to have the assembly instructions? Mine was boxed with the tall model instructions and help desk is only open mom-fri 8-5 and unfortunately it’s Friday evening. I have a get together tomorrow!!!!
I don’t but everything is pre threaded so bolts will only fit certain size holes. It’s very easy
Shoot me a contact and I can help you through it if you would like
I bought one from TSC and absolutely love it!…. One of the best improvements to my back patio. 😊

Yes sir big update actually. Got an amazing deal on a LDK from zzp and we are stripping the car down for new powder and will be recording again soon :)
Very nice! Love the look with the new tires.
Thanks! Love the car but sadly I have already had a tone of issues with the transmission and ended up buy a used transmission with less miles. They used cheap materials is the gears and they are trash

Mine has 18" looking for the perfect AT tires
I would definitely recommend these
ruclips.net/video/MCh_yYAYGBc/видео.html this is how I did mine!
How’s it going with the tires? I haven’t finished watching the video yet but curious of how it worked out. Thanks.
So I wish I would have done the all terrains that I put on my mini. You can’t beat the K02 for looks/reliability/longevity but we do to much city driving for that kind of tread. It’s louder and more uncomfortable ride quality. I should have probably realized that going in but you live and learn. The wildpeak at trails are the tires I put on my mini and they were designed for mid size suv. They look great and still have good tread.
Interesting, I’m sorry to hear it didn’t work out as you hoped. I love the look of the BFG’s KO2’s also. My local tire shop said I’ll regret it. I have been looking at the falcon trail also. It appears to be a much more mild all-terrain tire in my opinion. Like you said, you can’t beat the look buy you do sacrifice ride quality. Thanks for posting the video and answering my question. I appreciate it.
How do the falcon trails ride compare to a stock all season? I it’s interesting because my primary vehicles an F150 that has all-terrain tires on it and I’m OK with that but I use the Land Rover as my local drive around car. I don’t wanna ruin the ride Quality. The car maneuvers like a Jeep and has a styling and luxury of a BMW. Very unique vehicle in a good way.

Good to see you uploading again. You really helped me when building my DF Goblin. However, like yours, my Goblin is defunct. I had a turbo SS motor and, after becoming road legal, took it to a tuner to boost the HP to 300 or so. He wrecked it during testing. Things happen! Got a new frame and he is still working on the rebuild. I was going to use it for a track car but, after the accident, got a Cayman GT4 for the track instead. Maybe God is telling me the Goblin is not what I should be driving on the track! Hope you get yours' going again. Love your videos.
Thanks man! It’s definitely still on my list of things to do. My little girl has definitely slowed me down a bit but everyday I get a little more free time for myself so I’ll pick back up on it soon. Congratulations on the GT4 it’s actually one of my dreams cars. If you ever have it close to Chattanooga I’ll be waiting for a ride :) hoping to start uploading more in the next several months or so and possibly even doing a give away to those watching. Keep on wrenching man and thanks for the compliments and views.
Do you have any rear ends for a 2009 SS? Mine is bent and believe needs to be replaced.
I do not. Sorry
@Tom Anderson thank you. It looks like it would be a minimum of $20k to swap my 09 ss to a goblin. It looks like a great all around vehicle that can be street driven, roll raced, auto crossed, shown, etc.
