D4 SVX - Discovery 4 Overland

Thanks for coming to the channel, I’ll be uploading videos from my days out off roading and greenlaning in my HEAVILY modified Discovery 4, as well as showcasing the Green lane days I organise for the Discovery 3 & 4 Owners Group. Please leave feedback on the videos and I’ll answer any questions as best as I can 😀
Short 2023 Recap
So due to working away I haven’t been out on the lanes and doing the trips in the disco with the usual crew, but I have been out a few times through the year, here’s just a short clip of where we’ve been. Some of the uk classics as well as a trip to the Abenteur Allrad show in Germany where I was picked up in Frankfurt by the crew on their way to the show.
BIG Plans for 2024 though starting off in March with a trip to the arctic travelling through Finland, Sweden and Norway

Quick video from what was a great chilled out weekend with the Disco 3/4 lads… and Discovery 5 😂 @ProjectDefender110 took us by surprise and reversed up the bombhole after we’d put our phones in our pockets, so obviously he had to do it again on film or nobody would beleive him 😂 Sorry it’not action packed but there’s some great scenery, stunning waterfalls and some very well kitted out Landys....

If they weren’t going off piste and just turned around when they realised the lane was not passable this wouldn’t have happened.
If i didnt have a ridiculous flying hobby, i would buy myself a Disco 4 and do this

What tyres are fitted on the D5.
Great video. 😃 I’ve always had mud terrains and you all seem to have all terrains, is there an overall advantage with them? I’m assuming they have better road performance?
How did you figure out to get that rear arb diff lock onto the LR4
They want to donate those parts for medical vehicle in Ukraine?

As a novice offroad driver, it seems like the difference between the D4 and 5 here just comes down to the driver. The D4 drivers just seem to send it more. I coiuld be totally off though.. I just bought a 2019 D5 so maybe im just hoping thats true
There’s definitely an element of that, realistically you could buy both of the d4’s in the video for the price of Paul’s D5. Terrain response in the d5 is a massive step above that in the d4. The d4 has better angles than the d5, approach departure and break over. Both d4’s are running 275/70/18 (33.5”) tyres whereas the d5 is on 265/65/18 (31”) tyres and the lead d4 (mine) has front and rear ARB air locking diffs which definitely help making things look easy.
That makes sense! Thanks for the clarification. I dont think my D5 has auto terrain response - I havent taken delivery yet. But I do know that its running on 275/45/R21 tires which are not going to be ideal for off roading. My plan is to enjoy the look of them for a bit and then look for a nice set or 18 or 19 inch wheels and get some good AT tires. @@D4SVX
@@CoreyMarlin the 265/65:18 are a perfect size. As far as I remember there’s no mods required to make them fit a d5, they offer good sidewall height to allow for pressure reducing too. BFGoodrick KO2 are an incredibly robust tyre and last forever. I had 25,000 on mine and they still had 8mm left. Can’t recommend highly enough

Hi great video, thanks for sharing. Would this lane by passable by a 4x4 van? VW Crafter? In your opinion. Looked low branches in a few places and some narrow lane areas with side walls.Thanks for your time, keep up the films

What tire size it that?
They measure at 33.5”, 275/70/18 Toyo Open Country MT. Been fantastic on rock and in mud. Not overly loud (quieter than my KM3) and grip well on the road, even in the wet uk conditions 😅 not a straight fit though, lots of cutting has been done to make them work

The owner of the rolled Disco actually had the car working by the end of the week and it was repaired fully within 2 months 👍🏻
