DEALING WITH FEELINGS WEBCAST | Emotion Regulation Tips, Interviews, & Evidence-Based Strategies!
Thanks Mark and Heidi, I think mental health is more and more of an upcoming field in leadership. I think it is a very good point in how we seem to be so individualistic and up missing out on opportunities to help each other and be leaders and there for each other even in non-leadership roles. I also would like to add in my own 2 cents: A lot of people don’t realize the holidays can be really hard because people are lucky to have families. With the holiday coming up and discussing mental health, it is really important to watch out for it since right now a lot of people really are alone and forgotten.
I'd be curious to know what to do when others don't listen. I'm not like you or Dr.Alfiee and don''t have parents that listen or really anyone in my circle. It was a pattern I recognized a few years ago and it was isolating and explained so much. I ended up moving across the country and somehow the ability to meet new people has helped but it's been a year and it's hard to just recreate a new circle especially at a time when so many isolate.
duff is great but the interviewer looks like a cartoon lol
Thanks for the great lesson it was really good 😊
I LOVE YOU
With AI good luck with this.
Loved the talk - so real! Also shocked to hear you’re 53. I thought you were in your 30s. ;) thanks for sharing your wisdom.
This was such a wonderful discussion. Thank you for having this really important conversation and continuing to advocate for a cultural change around emotional learning. Just ordered Jessi's book and looking forward to reading. Anticipating that it will resonate with me as a practicing pediatrician, friend, mother, spouse, daughter, and just as a fellow human navigating the challenges life brings. ❤️❤️❤️

Our brains should not be dealing with this amount of envy, with so much of social comparison. This was such a helpful episode for me. Thank you.
Thank you Dr. Marc and Dr. Haidt for a helpful episode. Happy season 2 is here! My thoughts after this video: -Lessons on how quick dopamine and slow dopamine stimulants can impact the mind is important to teach adults so they could teach this to their kids, students, friends etc. -Asking ourselves how much of "envy" we want to consume per day is fascinating. Like an envy meter that we are personally conscious of. This emotion is common during doom scrolling episodes. Maybe there should be an added space in the how we feel app for social media usage or digital media usage... a separate measure we use to monitor the amount of 'envy' we consumed for the day. -The reality of "quick fix" SEL is very interesting and something to think about for the improvement of SEL training during pre-service teacher education or SEL teacher workshops. -The reality of implementing "delayed smartphone use" and the challenges that come with this implementation is something we experience here in South Africa too. A home can have limitations and boundaries for smart phone use but the broader family, friend group or school space can undo all of that hard home work on phone usage. So you guys saying that this is part of a collective action effort was something i could talk about to my colleagues, students and next year's SEL day audience. I would love to talk about this at my next SEL event. Thank you for sharing this concept. - The policy about phones in schools i think needs to be deliberated, documented and enforced. It is the only way kids can be kids and feel their bodies growing, make new friends and as you guys said hear laughter in the hallways.
❤
Hi, thanks for sharing all this information. Talking about differences in culture, here in Germany kids walk or bike to school alone from first grade.
Hi Dr. Brackett, I learned about you through your episode on the huberman lab podcast (where I also watched the episode with Dr. Jonathon Haidt). I just wanted to say that I’ve been going through my own personal self improvement reflection process at 21 ever since some major traumatic abuse events, I love the tips you share through your ruler method about labeling, understand and regulating your emotions and i loved the idea of teaching emotional intelligence in our schools from a young age, I know I would have benefitted from it immensely as well as my friends and students my age, while it’s hard to express all my feelings through the comments section on youtube, I hope this message reaches you and perhaps makes your day. I’m in the process right now of reading your book and I absolutely love your ideas and teachings, it helps me connect with myself and other peoples emotions and helps me to validate and legitimize others emotions. Would love it if you put this webcast in the form of a podcast on spotify!! Would really love to listen to all these intellectual conversations and learn and absorb new information and ideas while walking or driving to class!! Thank you for all the impact you are making on the world, our young generation and emotional intelligence
Unicorns and rainbows, getting rid of phones will not stop the added dangers of school mass shootings. Independance norms need adjusting from when we were kids too.
So insightful. Thanks so much!
I will yell less at my kids
Emotional self awareness. I'm working twice a day with your app. It is really helpful to deal with my anxiety
I am trying to help young children learn these skills through my youtube series "Daisy Bees" do you have any tips for helping children understand these concepts? Is there an ideal age in which we start teaching these skills? My theory is the sooner the better but would love your take!
Thank you for sharing
Ears open, parents !
Duff is the real deal! This dude gets nothing but respect from me 100%
Many thanks for your amazing live shows Dr.Brackett! I am watching you from France and enjoying reading "Permission to Feel". I feel respected and secure, when I watch your videos and I adore that. Looking forward to reading "Dealing with Feelings" and watching your upcoming podcasts.

Thanks for the slide "Helpful Strategies". It clarifies a lot of things. I believe you can write a whole book about it and cross my fingers for success
Another fantastic discussion. Thank you Marc and Rich.
Thank you very much. I just bought your book. Love the part about the strategies for different feelings. For me this is the most difficult part. Thanks once more for your work and greetings from Poland
For some reason hearing Duff talk simply calms me and comforts me. So much insights on life and human resilience just flowing out like a clear stream… He is truly a beautiful human being, and thank you for conducting this interview!
What a fantastic and enlightening conversation. Thank you to all three of you for this discussion. With your book Marc, and content like this, Ive definitely been getting critical knowledge that Ill be able to carry with me for the rest of my life.

The power of connection surpasses the intricacies of what each person likes or values or strives for in life. No matter who we are, it truly means nothing if we are lonely. (Loneliness is the new smoking..)
I appreciate Sophie’s passion, I feel validated in my own way of expressing myself passionately. I tend to feel like I’m being « too much » most of the time. Sophie’s confidence makes me feel more confident!
