Sailing to the River Blackwater with a faulty tiller pilot and a tricky mooring situation
I head along the coast to the River Blackwater, lots of rain on the way down and problems with my tiller pilot. A stay at Bradwell Marina and overnight anchor on the River Colne. A visit to Maldon to step onboard the WW2 steam driven tug boat 'Brent'. Plenty of rain on the trip down and then lots of wind sailing from Bradwell to the River Colne. This video features a tricky mooring situation where I get overruled by the wind when attempting to depart the marina.

I head back home from Amsterdam, a lack of wind means being carried by the tides. Dodging shipping in and around the various shipping lanes and managing my rest patterns, two nights at sea total time of trip was 40 hours.

After the 29 hour Solo crossing of the Southern North Sea I head for Amsterdam via the Noordzeekanal. A couple of days visiting Amsterdam I get a look in at the Heineken Brewery and experience the works of Van Gogh in an immersive lightshow experience.

I bring my 60 year old Nicholson 'Stowaway' in for a rigging replacement and mast works, one of the more essential jobs on a sailing boat. I wreck my trusty inflatable dinghy and watch the 62nd Pin Mill marge race. Also goodbye to 'Katrina' my Hurley 22, finally passed over to a new owner and on her way to future adventures. Finally some sunny warm weather moves in over the East coast and Thames Estuary. Light winds probably not the best for making longer passages however enjoyable all the same. I carry out some emergency inflatable dinghy repairs then make round to the River Stour for an overnight anchorage and checkout a stretch of the river bank while watching the sun go down. #boating #sailingadventures #advent...
Submerged objects, detergent spillage and a faulty engine
