    Well done Sam! I’m no sailor and live as far inland as you can get but enjoy watching sailing content on RUclips, from sailing doodles to aquaholic to stumbling on your channel. A very ‘earthy ‘ sailing channel. And very enjoyable. Really like it when you amble about on land as well. Will keep watching!

    What a brilliant end to a an amazing voyage, Sam
    Alas I am tied to the desk and can only manage weekend trips out of Walton on the Naze, to the Blackwater etc, but I was totally inspired by your journey, and by the simple sailing in the delightful Hurley 22 that you espouse.
    You have proved to everyone that you don't need a fancy boat and engine to get round the UK.
    Very well done, and congratulations !

    Hi Sam, this is again Eberhard from 'Långe Orm'. Congratulations on this phantastic achievement in your modest but able Hurley. And this last leg had again all the elements of your summer journey. Fast sailing in flat water, thunderstorm, rain and gale force winds, and in the end calm conditions when picking up your mooring. And I'm really envious on your self built grp doger with the clean view ahead in all conditions through the polycarbonate front screen. I'll have to built such a doger for my own boat.

    • @samsails9820

      Thanks Eberhard, yes the GRP dodger has been a great addition to the modifications made to this Hurley. I'm seeing more and more yachts fitted with GRP sprayhood

      How are your plans concerning the Jester Azores Challenge next year? In the end, it's 'only' 1200nm from Plymouth to Praia do Vitoria on Ilha Terceira, much less than your sail around Britain...ok, the way back is another 1200nm, and a bit of cruising to the other islands and perhaps just a short visit to Madeira...that adds up. But the boat is ready for the task!

    Bravo Sam. It goes to show that you don’t need to spend copious amounts of spondylitis, or for that matter a larger sailboat. All you need guts, and plenty of heart…

  • @rollinroland4144

    A great achievement. Hats off to you.
    I came across your video when starting chemotherapy several thousand miles away from home which is not far from your start/ finish so I have enjoyed every episode as you visit some familiar places. Certainly helps take your mind off some of the less pleasant aspects of treatment. Hopefully I can get back to sailing once this is done.
    You must be very pleased with having completed your circuit. It bears out you don’t need big bucks to have a big adventure but you do need good seamanship as you have amply demonstrated.
    Jester Azores next?

    Very well done Sam. May I ask what made you choose to go clock wise around???

    • @samsails9820
      @samsails9820  Год назад

      I entered the Jester Challenge to Baltimore in Ireland which started from Plymouth two weeks after my planned departure date from Harwich so with that in mind I would be going clockwise. I had intended to go either way based on wind direction at time of departure, it was a bonus there was a North easterly blowing for the first ten days of the trip to get me down to Plymouth in plenty of time. Thanks for watching

      I am going next May/June. I would prefer clockwise but I think I’ll go anti clock due to the normal westerlies that are in the Channel. I’ll leave it to a month before. Then plan.
