Stunning, your friend must be very special to you.
She is very special to me! ❤️
Love watching The Last Homely House too. You both inspire me so please keep sharing your quilts ~ loving them! 😊
I’m so glad you find both channels inspiring! Thank you for your lovely comment 🙏
Hi, Karla ~ Loved that you just go with the flow as you create your quilts. This turned out beautiful and your daughter loved it which makes it super special. ❤
Thanks so much!
Love your quilt videos
@@franwingate196 aww thank you!! 🙏
Wow it’s beautiful 😍 very lucky friend to receive it
Looking good. Very inspiring. Thank you 🎉
You are so welcome! 🙏
I love this quilt and have just made my version of it using doilies (my mum's who passed away 27 years ago), pale blue lace from her wedding dress and other bits and pieces. It is all done on white and cream squares (old sheets) and I love the neutral colours. I then went on and made a second neutral quilt (negative space I think it might be called) quilt with some cream and white batiks. I love your channel and that you are a fellow Perth girl.
I really loved reading your comment Christine ❤️🥰 the quilts you’ve made sound gorgeous! And you’re in Perth too?! That’s awesome!
Such a beauty. ❤
This is the first of your videos I've seen. I really like the doily idea for your quilt. I crochet lots of doilies besides simple quilting. But I'm interested in knowing the machine you are using. Brand? Would love to see a full service video.
@@rosemariegersema9809 hello! 👋 glad you liked it 😊 I have a Bernina B335 and I love it. I have it on my list to do a machine service video so stay tuned :) thanks for watching!
I love it. The creamy nutural is what makes it beautiful. The pops of brown and muted orange you did with the doilys! The random size pieces. I want to do one like that. And the velvet biding was awsome. Did it try to crawl away when sewing? Wonderful job. I hope you signed the back and dated it!
Aww thank you! I sewed a label on but didn’t sign or date it. I’ve not thought to do this, I should! The velvet was very easy to sew, didn’t slide away or slip :)
Prachtig ❤
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Absolutely love this quilt i will be making one of my own 😂🤍
@@cindyq52700 thank you! 🙏 you won’t regret it! I really enjoyed making this quilt 😊
Great start to 2025, nothing better than clothes shopping from your own wardrobe, I picked up a tip a long time ago, Mending Monday, every Monday something from the pile is mended or repurposed, love watching your videos keep them coming
Mending Monday is a great idea! I'm definitely going to try it. Glad you’re enjoying my videos ❤️
It was certainly a labour of love ! what a lot of work but a beautiful result. I am absolutely thrilled to see the use of the doilies. I have a friend who is going to move to a Care home and has to reluctantly give away things she has crafted including beautiful crochet doilies. Now I have the perfect solution. I will make a throw which she can keep in her room and show the staff her doilies that she won prizes for many years ago. Sadly people do not use doilies these days so this is a way to preserve the intricate craft.
@@pamelasmith3920 I love that you’re doing this for your friend!! Such a lovely idea and great way to showcase her prized artworks! It is sad that people don’t use doilies as much. I hope more people give them another “life” as quilts or other things ❤️ thank you for your kind words too! 😊
❤❤❤
I just bought some new clothes that, in theory, I liked online but not on my body. I've decided to alter them because they ticked some boxes of things I've wanted in my wardrobe for some time. I think altering clothes to work for you makes sense overall as RTW clothes aren't really made to fit your specific body.
Gorgeous 👏👏👏
Thank you! 🥰
Bravo! ❤❤❤
Great to clear up the to do lists. Refashion marathon success💯✅
Love the dopamine boost from ticking things off my list 😝
Nearly all my sewing is hemming, mending and some re-fashioning. My husband purchased the Bernina 335 a couple years ago for my birthday and I love it but I'm still using the Bernina 830 my father purchased for me in 1980.
Bernini’s are such great machines! And great quality! It’s awesome you still use your bernina 830!
New sub, from BrunFree, great info and inspiration to get my things done too
Thank you for subscribing! I'm glad you found it inspiring!
So much more enjoyable to watch you compete those nagging tasks than to do my own! Your philosophy segments added interest and I thought they were very relatable. Yes, take in the sides of the cute little white skirt just a bit.
@@kmurphy7740 thank you! ❤️
You must be delighted with what you've achieved! You're almost (almost!) guilting me into pulling out the "to do" pile in my own wardrobe. It's pretty cold and dark in the evenings, here in the UK, at the moment, so I'm hoping this'll be a Spring project for me. Here's hoping...! Dawn x
You can do it Dawn! My tip is to do it when you have the motivation, otherwise it'll be a huge chore and not enjoyable. I'm sure come spring you'll get it all (or at least some of it!) done :)
On the white denim skirt: i agree with taking it in. You did a beautiful job 😊
Thank you! 😊
I think so too, however, I'd take the excess out of the centre seam (where you sewed the crotch crossover).
I did like and enjoy your video
Thank you :) I'm glad you liked it!
My whole home is a pending task 😅
hahah the list never really ends for me either lol
YEP!
I have loved loved refashioning. It has allowed me to open up my creativity, without having to stress out about sewing from scratch 😊
This is such a great point! :)
Would like more "how to" for attaching the doilies. How much hand stitching for each one?
@@Terri-i4z in terms of how long each doily took me to hand stitch - on average was about 30 mins. I machine stitched some of them down. I figured the ones with rounded edges might be too difficult to stitch on my machine because I don’t have a free motion foot.
@@Terri-i4z to hand stitch them down I secured them to the quilt top with quilting pins (safety pins will also work or regular sewing pins). I then used an embroidery hoop to help keep the quilt top taught as I hand stitched them down. You could do without the hoop but I found it much easier this way :)
I've been collecting doilies and have wanted to add to a quilt. I'm not eager to hand stitch so will try to machine sew to attach. Not sure how it'll work but I was happy to see you've successfully accomplished.
Prachtig ❤
Adorable! Both the cardigan and daughters. Great way to up-cycle an old piece of clothing.
@@dorothykovak4900 thank you! ❤️
Gorgeous ! Love everything you put into the design and the colors .
@@lbond2349 awww thank you!
Very very beautifully done! I’d love to learn to quilt! The velvet binding is perfection❤
Yes please on how to do maintenance on a sewing machine:) TY
Your base is a muslin fabric. Printed cotton was called Calico and it originated in India. Great job!
@@jannmier3487 thank you ☺️🙏
Your dress form is printed with the date that the Tiantic struck the iceberg. You should name her Rose.
@@ambrjetathome no way! I never realised this! How cool!
It's a beauty, imaginiative & unique. ❤
I really like the small space set up
thank you :)
This is a super lovely quilt, all the colours go so well together. You are so clever at quilting that I have subscribed to your web site. Thank you for inspiration. I will use some of your ideas to make a blue and white quilt. thank you so much for submitting this. Greetings from a Canadian diary farmer's daughter, retired.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you love your blue and white quilt!
Hi! I loved your sewing space... and most of it the size... can you tell me how big is it?
@@vivolir aww thank you ☺️ it’s about 2.5 metres x 2.5 metres square
Hi Karla, although I like creams and whites, I'm not at all keen on browns but you have made THE most beautiful quilt - I love it! Well done, I'm sure your friend with love it too. Diana xx (UK)
Thank you so much!
Wow What a lovely quilt. Priceless. It is the first video I have watched from you and loved the way you talk and sew. You made it look effortless but I know it is so much work. I normally go for colours but I loved the creams. Thank you. I look forward to the next one.
Thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! ☺️
I’m sure your sister LOVEDIT!❤
