The novara randonee was my first touring bike also! Its phenomenal. I still ride it and its pronably my favorite bike ive ever rode.

I'll see if I can find it, but there was a bike in the 1970s with similar geometry and wheel size (slightly smaller) to today's gravel bikes. The wheel diameter was larger than a 650b, but smaller than a 700c. Maybe someone can find it?

99% это "городские" велосипеды приспособленные под туринг. Их ореал дорог асфальт и легкое кантри. Реально дающих свободу выбора пути мало. На мой взгляд лучший из них Трек 920. Он одинаково легко катит и по асфальту и по гравию и по горным тропам. Очень устойчивый и управляемый байк. Даже с 4 сумками на двух багажниках он остаётся самым безопастным в управлении.

A gravel bike is any bike you can ride on gravel. Arguing over semantics when the range of different gravel bikes encompasses old school MTB with flat or drop bars is useless. The marketers are likely to change the definitions anyway.

Drop bars are mostly there to look cool:D If it looks more racey it feels more racey^^ All theese terms are just for fashion any sensible person should customize a bike until it fits like a glove.

Bmc frame looks nice can get for a decent price. Was wondering maybe add a 110 to 120mm fork just to improve the downhill stability and raise the front a tad for more relaxed posture

I grabbed the $248 Ozark Trail G.1 Explorer and it's a steal of a deal. Ride it out of the box or spend a couple hundo on upgrades, it's fantastic.

If you dont need steel and are looking for a budget option, get the trek 920, ive now been driving it for ca. 50.000 kms incredible amount of abuse, trips over three months in length and its never let me down, its fast, stable and kind of sexy.

Love my Redwood. I actually have 27.5 x 2.8 tires on mine. It’s really fun and capable.

Can you recommend some more bikes up to 1.5k or 2k (since you can find 2k bikes for sale from time to time, so they're 1.5k aswell 😀) Mainly looking for adventure/bikepacking ready bikes, and I also prefer steel bikes, with as low gear range as possible! Journeyer is impressive but it's wheels are often WTBs and I've seen those rims crack a lot. I think the new batch is okay, but the covid runs had a lot of warranty issues. If you get one, just inspect your wheels regularly and know the date your warranty expires. Otherwise and impressive alloy deal.
