I have the Fuji Jari 2.3. I can not say enough about how great this bike is for the price. It does everything you can throw at it. Reynolds tubing is amazing too. Super comfortable on rough downhills. It climbs like a champ. On the road, I can hit 65 km/h on downhill road sections and it feels rock solid. What will I change as needed? I will swap out the Tektro single to dual piston brakes and the rear derailleur for a grx400 with a clutch. So many handy mounts and easy to put water bottles, mudguards and racks.
I think you missed out on a few more independent smaller companies on your list. Such as... The Poseidon X - comes with a super light 6061 aluminum frame (amazing internal cable routing you'd expect only on much more expensive bikes), 2x10 microshift drivetrain, full carbon fork, a mess of bottle and rack mount points and all of in at $699.99 delivered!! Don't like the specs ? The frameset only running $299.99 for the frame, headset and full carbon fork, means you can build your own. No, I don't work for Poseidon - but I did build up one for cheap with a 2x9 sora groupset, 11-34 cassette, FSA Omega 48/32 crank/ BB and Tektro DM-550 mech disc brakes, riding on Sunringle aluminum Wheels and 650c x 45 Kenda Quick 7 tires. All told about $650. I don't think the value to cost on some of these entries comes anywhere near that - especially with some of the lower Claris components I see in the "under $1,000" price tier. Great list, but there are more options out there. Just my 2 cents.
I loved the video. It was very thorough. I used to work in the bike retail industry but got out like 13 years ago and haven't ridden much since (busy with kids). I am getting back into it. You really helped me focus in on which models warrant further research. I am leaning towards something steel and you listed several. Thanks
Hi there, great video. I am usually riding racing bikes. Now I want also to be able to go off road from time to time. Which gravel bike would you recommend, which is still racy enough and around 1000 €?
Awesome stuff!! If you want to check out some other options that are a little more expensive I have other blog articles for under $1500 : cycletraveloverload.com/8-best-gravel-bikes-under-1500-budget-gravel-bikes/ and Under $2000 : cycletraveloverload.com/complete-list-of-12-best-gravel-bikes-under-2000/ if that is of any help! :) Really liking the 2020 Cannondale Topstone
Unsure why you mentioned the Jamis at all as you provided no comment on it other than the price. I've been researching Jamis vs Jamis, and I'm really leaning Jamis because of the build/price value....not to mention the through axles.
Hey Thanks for the feedback, this type of video is for those looking for different options with a very brief overview. My plan is to make more in-depth videos on a individual basis .. Thanks :)
Cycle Travel Overload I do appreciate the video greatly because I live in a budget and would really like a gravel bike to take the place of a 20 year old mountain and a 30 year old road bike. Both are riding fine but one bike could easily replace these for the riding I do. Keep up the good work!
I really like your video thank you. I wish they have these choices in Colorado. Do you know Schwinn gravel for around the affordable price range? I like to ride on & off roads. Which bike models has the option to put bigger tire than 35cm? Tubeless or with the tube is better and safer for longer ride? Thanks again.
Check out the Poseidon X. They went on pre sale yesterday and last I checked they still had some. $700 with aluminum frame and carbon forks. And free shipping in the lower 48.
I would say probably not. I find coming from a road background, as I want to explore more less travelled gravel roads and MTB trails, some of these are great 👍
650b wheels and tires are fantastic. Although any bike with disc wheels is 650b compatible, the real limiting factor is tire width and to a slightly lesser extent, bottom bracket height. If you know you want 650b its best to choose a bike that comes stock with them. Second best is if the manufacturer confirms compatibility. Similar to the Salsa bike in this list Marin bikes for instance offer their Nicasio steel bike in both 700 and 650b. I ride the Marin Gestalt aluminum bike in this list, although mine is one step down model. I've mounted 650b x 1.9" (48mm) wheels and tires just like Marin advertises with excellent clearance. You will quickly find adjusting tire pressure to match terrain is where the magic is found. The Gestalt is unique in that the chainstays are incredibly short at 41.5mm so it maintains road bike agility and snap. Its also fairly light (mine is 22.5 pounds ready to rumble), being aluminum with a full carbon fork.
Hi! I'm looking to buy my first dropbar bike and I'm having trouble deciding between Kona Rove DL 2020 and Felt Broam 60 2020. Do you have any thoughts which one would be better when I can get them pretty much for the same price?
I bought the Broam 60 in XXL & it’s a sweet ride. Allows me to ride the road & also handle trails with my son who’s got a mountain bike. Done about 100km in the 2 weeks I’ve had it. Unlike he says in the video, the brakes are mechanical not hydraulic but work fine. I’m a big guy (195cm tall and 110kg) & I stop no problem. Need to take it back to the shop to adjust the rear derailleur. Have experienced some gear skipping. I’ve seen online that it’s a common issue that’s fixed with a quick adjustment.
Would have been much better to have superimposed the brand name and model of the bike when first mentioned. I love your accent, but your diction is not as clear as you might think for an international audience.
Bro kindly write the name of every bike on screen too. Cheers
Thanks for the feedback! I will do this next time

Rail150 hey :) which Model do you have? The 2019 one?
Finally a review about bikes 🚲 I can afford!

What? A 650$ bike with 300$ frame. I have my doubts or you had a few good deals or didnt account for something you already had (like a wheelset)?
Gravel monster the best wohooo! Just like my current project bike

Hey glad it helped, yeah I am with you with steel, I have the Surly LHT. Great material for adventure cycling! :)

Btwin rc 500 and 520 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻. Might hv added in the list
most of what I am considering was on this list, only I am opting for the higher end models with better drive trains. thanks mate!

what are your thoughts on triban rc 520, will it make the list?
Marin bikes are good too
how about triban rc 520?

I love my Jamis Renegade!
I think a Kona Rove Al with a single chainring and a mtb gear will make a good budget gravel for me
Great idea 👍
I’m planning on buying the Salsa Journeyman but some of your others were cool too
Which of these did you actually ride? Impressions videos or full reviews would be helpful.

Hi, any chance of pointing me to an Aussie bike shop that sells the Kona Rove at less than $1,000. Cheapest l have found is $2,348.

Is there any point if I am just on roads
I would say probably not. I find coming from a road background, as I want to explore more less travelled gravel roads and MTB trails, some of these are great 👍
Do u have any ideas for bike like this that would be suitable for roads,,
What about the mongoose guide sport?
Top 10 top tier gravel bikes 👍
Is the Salsa really under a thousand dollars? I don't think so.
The best bike is the bike what you have now 🙂
Hello :)
Can i mount 650b wheels on his kona rove?
Hey the kona rove st comes with 650b wheels
@@CycleTravelOverload yes i agree, but the Kona Rove in your video is a Rove Al ? :)

If you allow for
I think you missed a spot shaving.
Спасибо. Интересно было посмотреть.
gt grade with Claris groupset I think that is under 1000usd.
Do they have a 2019 or 2020 gravel bike option?
@@CycleTravelOverload Yes I think so. GT Grade has Aluminum and carbon versions.
I can't believe Merida SILEX is not there , you kidding me ??!!!
cannot get them all plus it looks like that is over $1000
marin nicasio... maybe..
Are these Aussie price's man ?
Hey USD
три моих зарплаты , это конечно страшно для меня
