Why would Starmer campaign for rejoin, it makes no sense for it to be an election issue this cycle. My reason for my point of view is it take at least 10 years of considered negotiation before the UK is in a position to make that a possibility. EU "democracy" is an illusion intended to keep the same elite in power without any democratic accountability. For, in the EU you can vote and vote and vote and vote again, but always the same people are in charge. It was never designed to give people control, it was designed to give them the illusion of having control, whilst giving absolutely no power to the ordinary people of Europe over their own lives.

Bliar was the guy who created Brexit when he opened the flood gates and imported millions of cheap workers from Europe onto our labour market, whilst of course, calling everyone who were opposed to it, racists (which happened to be millions of voters). It was the large public reaction to this Bliarite open door policy which saw the rapid rise of UKIP, followed by the referendum, and then ultimately to Brexit. Bliar was the one who got it all wrong.

I'm a passionate Remainer but it's very unlikely the UK will go back into the EU for decades. Indeed, just fulling step one will take years and years: The first step is to show that both the leading parties are enthusiastic re-joiners. The EU won't even consider our application unless they know the process won't be challenged or reversed by another UK party in the near future. Therefore both Labour and the Tories will need to be prove they are firmly behind re-joing, and neither are at the moment. IF that happens, we need to concede that our application then might be vetoed by another EU member state. There is no guarantee that the EU will want us back. And if they do say we can return, it will be with unappealing provisos such as adopting the Euro. So, Brexiteers have shafted us all for the long-term. There is no quick way back in. None. It's horrible but that's the truth. I will be amazed if the UK is back in the EU within 30yrs.

My cousin lived within a farming community. He called his nearest neighbour a “raggy-arsed farmer,” said the man wore thread-bare trousers that were held up with string. The farmer was constantly whinging on about his poor way of life yet behind his garage door he had a brand new Mercedes, and these were the days when most families didn’t own a car. I always remember my cousin’s words whenever I see a farm spokesperson being interviewed on TV at an agricultural show. Time and again I notice a field full of top-of-the-range 4x4 vehicles parked up behind the said spokesperson; more raggy-arsed farmers I guess. I do recognise that a number of farmers do have a hard time, especially tenant farmers, but many do very well, perhaps not as well now that they’ve lost EU funding and the government is introducing a re-wilding scheme. Anyone remember our wildlife?
