This isn't the best speed run ever because we used a chipped 12x4" prop instead of the normal 10x4" I usually use with this plane. But it's all we had at the time and we had fun!

@@ksmith8019 yep. It was a little tail heavy unfortunately. But after some modifications it flies amazing!
I love this hybrid plane concept. Maybe more dihedral would make it more stable?
@@Wings_of_foam definitely has enough dihedral. It was a little to tail heavy. But I've made some modifications and it flys awesome!!
Thumbs up buddy. Such a wonderful experience when you build your own design, at 1/5 th of the price of a factory built one. What state are you in. Seeing a wild dear like that is something that most people will never see.
That's true! Very rewarding to have your own design flying in the air! We are in north Idaho. I guess the deer like flying to?😂
Great video. Great build. 2 Questions. What kind of Foam Board are you using and what kind of Spar did you use in that wing.
@@gisall8205 thanks! I'm using regular white foam board from the dollar store and the spar is a single layer of foam board that is 3/4" wide. That's it.

Too bad building materials are scarce. Hobby Lobby is the only place I know of around here that sells balsa, and I never see any hard balsa. Nice plane.
@@joewoodchuck3824 I just use dollar store foam board. For all of my planes, except my 80" which uses a carbon fiber wing spar but the rest is foam board and hot glue.
Nice flying, that thing flys so nice, I’m surprised how well it flies inverted with the polyhedral wing, I think that’s correct lol Nice buck, he was watching thinking damn that’s a big arse bird I’m out of here 😂🤣

Very nice. Flys very well. I built a Flite Test Simple Soarer as a V tail. This is very similar.

The wings look twisted up to me. I think it would fly more predictable if the wings were straightened and put a little washout on each wing tip.
Oh dang I must have missed the notification for this video, Looks cool. Honestly I love the wheels but I think it would fly much better with out them and like you said a folding prop would be better also, they do eventually get beat up belly landing though so there’s always a down fall some where along the line. Like my grandfather always used to say, ya gotta give to get… 🤷🏼♂️
@@EJ-74 the wheels in this case help keep a forward cg and also I wanted to make it a tail dragger lol just because. It's really an abomination lol. Several plane types in one.
Awesome,I like it, I really love those wheels, I’ve got to get me some of those, I think they will look good on my next biplane build, give it that old school look. Looks like you got the CG worked out, looked like it was porpoising right much at first? Couple more flights I’m sure you’ll have it dialed in. Looked like it had plenty of power, did you just not get into the throttle quick enough or did it not have enough thrust to pull out of the stall ?
Low battery on the stall. And it was tail heavy at first. I've made some mods and it flys perfectly now. Another video coming soon! Those wheels are on flite test website.

So amazing .... you are a very big inspiration for people who maybe can't afford the 1000.00 plane.... building them yourself is so awesome.... and the way that flys is so nice!!!! My husband flys... and the cost of the planes is crazy.... I always tell him... I bet you can build one.... here is the perfect example ... thank you for sharing
@@rachelchenoweth5748 thank you!! It's definitely possible It just takes a little research and math and sometimes just some imagination. I find it really rewarding too come up with my own design and watch it fly much more so than any plane that I've bought. I definitely do have some planes that I do plan on buying but building is such a blast!
The heat wave this summer made me regret wayiting for warm weather ,i would rather Fly in colder days ,since now the lipos and motors over heat up after one flight ....nice plane btw ,you should reinforce that motor moute a little more
@@Elisrc. Ya it's been way to hot to fly the last month plus I've been to busy working. The motor mount I definitely need to redo. I've just been doing quick fixes since it broke the first time. I'll have to replace the mount completely this time.

Nice to see ya out flying again. Friend of of mine got a Trekker, we took it out last weekend and it flew great. That’s the only plane I’ve flown in a while myself. I got kinda burnt out but I’ll be back soon, thinking about building another biplane, mine has seen better days 😂

@@FlyTimeRC I’m thinking about building my next one just a bit smaller - lighter and shape the wings a bit, that way the power to weight ratio will be insane on 4S and should even have unlimited vertical on 3S and it should glide a lot better than the flat wings. I’m on a very very tight budget, both of my daughters are getting ready to go back to college so you know that’s not cheap at all lol so I have to work with the electronics I have at the moment, I’ve been looking for a company to do reviews on electronics planes etc, I sent a few Emails and even said I would move all my music content to my backup channel and dedicate my main channel to only RC’s and keep it kid friendly, no F bombs etc. lmao. 😂 Guess my channel isn’t big enough. I only got one reply form Grayson hobby, they sounded interested and said they would get back with me, Hell I get more views and likes than they do, which isn’t saying much lol. Hopefully they will contact me with some good news 🤞😁 Looking forward to seeing your biplane build. 👍

@@SnoMoJoe1 thank you! And ya it's bound to happen. Honestly the plastic part holding the wheel on isn't that great and I'm surprised it's lasted this long. That's ok I'll have it up in the air again in no time !

Lol I totally agree! This was a 12" prop. I'm supposed to be running a 10" but I didn't want to wait for new props to come before I flew again! So I trimmed it down!
Really great for a high wing stol plane! I've had problems witch cheap Banggood/Amazon motors and props vibrating. I try and check balance on the props but I think the motors might not be properly balanced.

@@A.M.-RC thank you! I was at 900 feet. Could have gone a lot farther but I could see everything great. This is the first year I had a drone so I decided it was a cool use for it. We never make it downtown to see them up close.
That plane flys really well. You did a great job designing and building it. I hope you can patch it up ok.

Yeah, it is a bummer and I feel your pain... My UMX Air Tractor crashed this morning. I say IT crashed because IT just went wonky and dove into the ground/grass. Broken plastic prop shaft and broken battery hatch appear to be the only damage. Of course, when I get to the crash site and check the controls they all seemed to be working perfectly.
Ya, I was flying upside down and went too slow. Totally my fault. But we were having fun! Just a broken prop. No biggy.
Nice inverted landing - crash 😂🤣 Mason said OH Jesus and got the heck out of dodge😂🤣 Smart kid, 😁 Nice flying plane overall, definitely have to blame the pilot this time… lol I finally hooked up the bottom elevons on my biplane and holy cow that thing can barrel roll easily now and it’s even more stable than it already was, I also did a few modifications to the elevator and got rid of those crappy landing gear, lol it flys so much better now, I’ll show everything I did in my next video. I just got a IPhone 14 so the video quality should be much better also, I’ll try to get some footage of the barrel rolls etc today if the wind calms down, it’s pretty windy out right now, hopefully it will calm down by this evening… 🤞

im building something similar. is it 80'' wingspan or 80''fuselage ? and what size prop?please.
80" wing span and I'm using a 13x5 folding prop. I may change to a 15x5 though just to test it out. Also may try some 14" props. But for the now 13x5 is working great.
