SPEEDPAINT - Yuniiho's instagram challenge
This is an informative video thank you! Im glad he mentioned that Twitter is still the main place to find audience because that is something that many artists do not understand, or want to acknowledge.
I remember when i first started posting art online I was mostly doing Xenoblade fanart. It took a while, but I started getting decent attention after a year or so. Even though I really live those games and its community, I ended up burning out and just deleted the account before just taking a year long break. I have started posting again but this time drawing original art, and man, it's kike you don't exist. It's a lot less stressful than forcing yourself to draw something you don't want to anymore, but without the backing of an already established community, I wonder if it's even worth it sometimes.
Can you introduce some Fandoms that drawing fanart for will make account grow?
@@mg-wj8mp get my ebook hehe
So basically, Follow the trends and target the big accounts within your reach. Numbers make people gather. Gather momentum with your posts and keep catering to your audience. Do what you like but not too much, you still have an audience to cater to.
Can all this advices applied for artist thats also have day job? Because social media really hate slow artists like me and probably some of other artists out there.
@SHAHNMONO well, maid's friend got a day job. So yeah.
This is a great video and thanks for making this! I have a question - Do you think being a social media artist is sustainable long term and is it scalable? I am still on the fence about going full time on art - since its something I enjoy - I don't wanna turn it into a chore because I wanna draw whatever I want but as you said I have to stick to a niche - that's difficult for me.
Amazing insight to be had in this video, specially for me since I just started posting my art recently and do want to have a decent enough growth in my social media to have more opportunities with my art. I'm currently drawing hololive fanart, and I was actually planning on jumping from fandom to fandom, no particular reason besides me having a lot of interest (I'm planning on jumping on blue archive fanart funnily enough). But I noticed in my early run of posting that the engagement I get is very varied. and I don't get any followers at all (maybe what you talked about regarding vtuber fanarts are true idk). I'm now considering planning what I should post instead of just posting whenever and whatever I feel like. I'm still in the testing stage and again, this video is exactly what I need to gain more insight as to the happenings on becoming an artist and how to handle social media.
@martikolz not getting followers can mean either your art needs some work, your account is too smll or people don't know what to expect from your account. I believe picking a niche and limiting your fanart themes at the beginning may be the way to go.
Do you guys have thoughts on Pixiv as a platform? I'll check Bluesky "when the time comes", but for now I want to work on my consistency before I try to grow any accounts. I'd be happy if I can consistently draw as well as I did in the past without an immense effort and self-doubt 😆
Your vtuber design is cute af btw
thats the most non secret shortcut for growth?
"you genuinely have to like what you draw" disagree. one of the most popular xiaoven artists came out, saying they really hated the ship but kept drawing it because it gained attention... ^^'
Which artist is this?
@@peache_re yeetoldy
Yeah but would you rather see something you didnt enjoy making have more engagement and then the piece you’ve worked hard and really like barely get any recognition? Just bcs it worked for them doesnt mean it’ll work out for others too so it’s just be better to find something you enjoy drawing more^^
@ in my 20 years of drawing and talking to artists, the amount of people who draw for clout and not because they like something is rather high among artists, especially when it boils down to doing commissions
@@xUsako i think the thing about "you gotta like what you draw" is for longevity. most ppl would eventually feel miserable if they're drawing something they hate, i think the artist you brought up is very unique in that sense. drawing for clout is better when you like the thing you're drawing. ship art is also unique in this sense because people will gobble up anything of their OTP. speaking from experience lol. if you're just drawing a character on their own with no ship attached to them it's much, much harder to please the people seeking art of that character
Really interesting video thank you !
But nobody wants to be on twitter anymore. Even big artists like Loish left twitter and deleted it because of how insanely toxic and political it's become.
@AirConditioner402 the number of views I've been getting on my Twitter videos versus my bluesky videos say otherwise. Besides, twitter still has 10x the bluesky userbase.
I mean the artists and audience aren't the same thing.
21:45 this is actually pretty good advice!!
Aim for the lowest hanging fruit (popular anime-games) and then get surprised when they don't care about any other thing you do. Who could have seen that coming
me when drawing what interesting to me only to aknowledge that none of it is mainstream for 10+ years or so (btw reddit is sometimes good in this case if ya want some attention)
your friends dream is same like me, ahh i need focus on draw fast first reeeeeee
Maybe I should dedicate 1 month drawing only fanart….
Your character design is SOO CUTE!!! And you’re SO RIGHT only those with big followings grow on other platforms!
Vtubers are a terrible nesh to draw For Fanart with Vtubers. They will never Interact with it. At best like and retweet. Then it goes into the void to never be mentioned or seen again This applies to non-corp as well. Vtubers never repost their Fanart that their fans have made
@@SuzuHotaruVt that's one of the reasons why I stopped drawing vtubers. I only draw the ones I really feel rewarded for drawing.
spot on about drawing so the big accounts can push your work.. I feel like that also helps with if you want ppl to follow you for your ocs etc and not just fanart. in order to become mutuals with big accounts i recommend doing zines, etc and finding an account that may be small on one platform but big on the other
If Twitter isn't fun to browse anymore, it's not going STAY good for business... so why bother staying on a sinking ship?
This strategy also works on bluesky! I'm not a bit a fan of Twitter either~
it's like economy and country's gdp. We know great depression 2.0 is coming soon, but still currently we need to tolerate and make do of what we have.
I loved this video!! Thank you for inviting someone with 👏👏 the best knowledge 👏👏
That was a great video Sayuui! Much fun and informative. You should make more videos with your friends. I made Blue Archive stuff, my best works, but didn't pull any followers on twitter, probably because i used 3 hashtags😂. I find quite hard to get notice on this niche, because they are actually huge. Much more popular than any other gacha inside Japan, so it's really saturated. I think that one of my problems is the lack of personal style. Every painting is completely different from the other, so it does make it difficult to recognize. Sorry for ranting on your comments section again.😅
Rant as much as you can so I can figure out my viewer's problems for more video ideas, hehe
Would love to see your blue archive stuff, i also do fanart of Blue archive lol, started learning how to draw one year ago because of it

This was a funny video for the algorythm to show me right after I was telling my american artist friends how getting art comissions for dollars is worth a lot more in south america than it is in the US. You can make a livable wage at a fraction of what they'd need for rent, its crazy. I'm not sure if moving here just for that is very doable, but hey, we keep telling them to come to brasil either way, lol
Alright, so im gonna post my art in Bluesky. This is a great opportunity (In Twitter i cant get more than 10 views)
Sorry for the dumb question, but how does the AI Imagery Labeler works? If I subscribe to it, does it block slop showing up in my feeds, or should I only subscribe if I was a prompt typer myself?
@jevlin I think it works by reports of the users themselves, like an user list. But I'm not sure.
@@Sayuui Thank you so much, I got it! I've signed up to Bluesky when it barely had a userbase but this is the first time I heard about Labelers. What a cool feature! 😄

Despite going to CSP for illustration I have never stopped using SAI😄It's what I use for emotes😊So far the vector has worked perfectly for it - but may try Affinity Designer 2 for that Though SAI is the first real art program I ever used - and purchased ^^ I have never owned a pirated version I can recommend LazyNezumi Pro for stabilisation, rulers etc. (works for every graphic program) which really helps a lot
0:00 Yes 0:14 yes😅
I love how you added where the light is coming from <3
You guys realize third party AI can hard data swipe your pages with no log in required?
@sneakymitchell7802 You realize you can turn that off and make your content available only to people who log in?
@ if people don’t realize lol. I don’t like it to begin with. I believe it be more bots on there than X in coming months. With no advertising and money the company will have to run ads like other platforms
I often find my artists randomly on Vgen and the likes. So have a nice eyecatch so I even click on your banner, then have the relevant info on point because no one will read a wall of text.
darn i missed it
*ARTISTS LISTEN!!* I watched this while signed out and signed in to finally comment. *Artists Listen UP!* If you are going to use Bluesky, keep in mind you ( as of right now) CANNOT private your bluesky account. This is important if you ever got stalked or harassed. Not only that but it’s VERY easy for A/I bro scalpers to steal your art. As A/I is on blueSky as well. IF YOU, post to blue sky. Please glaze or nightshade your art. Protect your art!
I honestly don't feel like posting on anything anymore. I am too streesed out at this point
I've lost my Twitter account of 4k followers (for no reason losing 4 years of hard work) bluesky been helping me since I feel like I can be a bit more open
my one reason im not 100% comitted to bluesky is the feed, a lot of artists i love arnt on there and idk if theyll be moving. but i also find the feel has a lot of low quality stuff pushed to me, like, i dont care about ur political opinion on the newspaper brad shut it.
@imkuelllgremlin bluesky is different from Twitter. What Twitter does is it takes the best content in a certain subject and serves it to people's feeds. So because of that, there is no content variety and everyone is kinda served the same things. People need to understand the bluesky is different. You need to curate your timeline yourself and that is not a bad thing. For the first time in years, you're actually in control and not being served always the same BS. But I feel like people have become too lazy to understand that.
Any tips on how to charge a lot and still get work? In my country charging less than 150€ for an illustration is a waste of time, 300€ would be okay, 700€ good. But most online artists charge much less for the same work.
@Musashi246 In that case, I don't have an easy answer. Really work on the long run game of improving your art to God level, offer the best service and also build a successful brand.
@@Sayuui Haha...yeah. That's what I'm stuck at, training to become god level. Thanks anyway :)
I honestly feel so overwhelmed by the idea of having to market myself and my art... It feels hard enough just to make art and post it because of some personal issues that the idea of learning all these new skills I don't even feel confident enough in what I do to think it's worth selling in the first place...
perai vc e brasileira 😮😮
Ima boutta become a new user cus im bout tired of twitters bad system of engagements
I'll support any and all bluesky videos, it's so much nicer
I'm reatively a "new" artist on social media (I draw almost 6 years now, but decided not to post to not feel pressured or get discouraged and give time to feel confident in my art) and within half a year I posted around 20 post but only gained 10 followers. It's really hard to gain popularity and get tons of likes, but this doesn't value your drawings! I'm really happy what I achieved only 6 months and I doesn't feel the need to keep the algorithms or trying harder. I only draw because its one of my hobbies and posting it if I dont forget. So overall, it's okay to be a small artist, your account will definetely grow :)
@BobbyLand_21 I feel like if it's a hobby, it's OK not to seek validation! It's a big virtue to be at peace with whatever numbers you can pull off
Sai has such a user friendly interface that I now struggle to get used to anything as complex as CSP. Also CSP seem so have a build in staberliser that is still too much for me but I never could find out how to turn it off
@Kitrill Turning off the stabilizer on CSP depends on the brush! Some brushes have it by default, some others don't. I don't have it open right now, but I'm pretty sure it's under sub tool settings, click the screwdriver and make the stabilizer option visible.
@Sayuui oh thank you! I will Check that Out 🙏
Didn't know about art shield ;0 gonna check that out thank youu !! 🙏
I didn't start taking comms until 2 years ago I draw alot of my own stuff and that served as my backlog. I don't have a vgen yet and only work through dms. I also made a price sheet (in Google sheets) that tends to give ppl an idea of my pricing. I actually do pretty good xD
I'm not an artist, so I don't know how this got recommended to me. However, I do like shopping around for game assets and I can tell you that there is a distinct lack of high quality 2D Character Art (i.e. for Visual Novels, JRPGs etc) in the west. The only way to get usable asset packs is by going to a site like DLsite which is becoming harder due to international payment blocks. Just food for tought. Another point: I'd advice artists to create art that isn't in the style of AI art. Consider "anime girl that is realistically rendered and looking 3d and stuff" as a dead genre.
