    Hi! Do you have a tier system, as in price per shirt for 1-12 shirts is x amount, 13-24 x amount, etc... Or do you apply the formula to every specific number of shirts ordered? Thanks

    I had a question about using the flash dryer for the final cure. If my garment scorches and yet hasn’t reached the cure time should I raise my flash dryer higher? My flasher doesn’t have a temperature control on it so I’m guessing it just got too much heat concentrated on it too quickly. Thanks!

    • @thegraffixshack
      @thegraffixshack 2 месяца назад

      That is exactly right. Yes, if your garment is scorching but, the ink isn't cured then you need to raise the flash dryer a little bit. My flash dryer doesn't have a temperature control either...I had to experiment and burn many shirts LOL for my flash dryer I have it 4 inches above the garment...at that height with the FN Ink I use it takes approximately 10 seconds for a full cure. Try that out and adjust from there depending on your results. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching 🤜🤛

One thing I have been wondering a lot about since I'm starting out and trying to save money and space is, would I be able to cure ink if I flashed it a couple times maybe on a higher temp, or a longer time? Or would I be able to cure using a heat press? I don't want to buy an expensive conveyor right away if I don't absolutely have to

    • @thegraffixshack

      You can definitely cure with both a flash dryer and or a heat press. I personally don't have a conveyor dryer. I cure all my garments with my flash dryer. When i print at events i cure the shirts with my heat press.

    Yo Andreas, i got a question, I printed some shirts up and im going to take them to boutique stores around my city, should I print my brand on the neck of the shirt, or should I print the boutiques brand on the neck? ...so in other words, should I make shirts for the boutique stores, or should I try and have the stores sell my brand? Im just wondering if i print their brand, they might be more inclined to work with me.

    • @thegraffixshack
      @thegraffixshack 3 месяца назад

      Yo! How's it going? Good question... That all depends on your business plan. If you're designing shirts with the intent to grow a brand then I'd print your own brand on the label. But, if you just want to design random shirts and sell them at different boutiques then I wouldn't even print anything on the label...if you want to use the label as a selling point for the boutiques then yeah printing their logo would definitely position you in a better spot to get your shirts sold at their boutiques. Hope this helps a little. I appreciate you watching! Thanks! 🙏

    Do you have a reason for not using registration marks to center your designs to the pallet?

    • @thegraffixshack
      @thegraffixshack 3 месяца назад

      Yes... i dont use registration marks because it's not really needed for simple one or two color prints. In my opinion it's time consuming... you can easily get caught up trying to get the registration marks perfectly aligned on a very basic one or two color design. For me, the only thing i need is the center line on the pallete itself and even that i don't really need because i have a little mark on the back edge of the pallete which helps me align the design. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching! 💯👍🙏

    Sometimes those vest come in 2 peice back area...so the mesh of shirt is on mesh on mesh and it will move...the vest u are doing is 1 mesh only so easy to srceen print on.....my boss took a job based off a vest like u are using...but when the vest came in the mail they were different then the vest the customer had originally brought in ..there was no way i was gonna be able to screen print on material that isn't able to lock down to screen pallet.. Have no clue why some vest are made like that......to make it more clear it would be like the vest u are using in video .but the back area has to layers of mesh..the mesh on mesh will not stay in place......so i had to make transfers to do the job....... So my point was not all vest may be like the one in video u are screen printing on... Thanks for video.....

      I've never had any issues with Fn Ink. That being said screen printed ink will crack at some point no matter what you do or what brand ink you use. Very Good your video: I like the fact that you mentioned one very important printing paremeter sometimes overviewed: OFF-CONTACT.... and like that you also brought up an issue that should be considered with all t-shirts: "fibrillation". Your white has "a good opacity" but does Your white capable to print without clogging the mesh after a while and able to pass through higher mesh TO PRINT FINE DETAILS that are not LETTERS? If not, look for that white that exists in the USA.

How many days do you wait for transfer? If you make designs yourself is that included in the price? If I’m not a designer do i contract the part of the process? Thanks a lot

      Thank you for watching and subscribing. I appreciate it 🙏 Those are all good questions, and I think this would make a good video. I'll answer your questions here, and I'll make a video with more details. - Sometimes the customer has their own design or logo. And sometimes I create it for them based on what they are looking for. - Shipping will vary depending on your location. Since Supacolor is located in my state the turnaround time for me is typically 2 days for production and 1 day for shipping. - If I create the design and it was something simple that takes me 30 minutes or less then I don't charge the customer. But, if I have to go back and forth with the customer or the design took me 1 hour or more then I do charge the customer. - If you're not a designer then yes, that part you can contract out. There's many artwork services you can use for example Fiver. Then once you have the design you can send it to Supacolor.

There's a few things we can do sometimes to provide value for our customers and maybe give us a chance to charge a little more... for example in my case for the order in the video the customer already knows me and knows I can turn over an order pretty fast, no rush fees most of the time and usually no art fees plus I use good quality shirts and I deliver free for customers in my general area.

    Coating screen and waiting to dry 3-4 hours Separating and print art work 1-2 Printing a 12-24 piece 1.5 hours Reclaiming that 1 screen 1 hour .. total = 6-8 hours for $240

      That's a good observation. However, i always have at least 4 or 5 screens coated and ready to burn at any given time. So, for the video the only thing you didn't see was me burning the screen which took me about 20 minutes. All said and done probably 1 1/2 hours... the next time i get a similar order I'll do a video start to finish to see how long it takes. Thank you for watching 🙏

    Awesome breakdown. Thank you for sharing. I def have oversimplified my pricing compared to you, but I believe that’s because I’m just heat pressing transfers alone from my bedroom and not taking into account many of the factors you do at your advanced level. What I do is take the cost of materials to produce what my customer wants, and then double that to price out my work. I love how you made this video expanding the logic behind making yourself profitable to give me a realistic view of what it truly costs.

      Thank you so much for watching! I'm glad the video helped you see the pricing from a new perspective. There's definitely many ways to price our work and there isn't a right or wrong way either. The best pricing strategy is the one that works for you and your setup. I have been getting some comments on pricing transfers so definitely will be making a video on how i price my transfers. I appreciate you watching and commenting 🙏

      Thank you so much for watching! I appreciate it very much 🙏 Yes, my camera guy is great and does a good job asking questions 😀 DTF is definitely a great way to print shirts. And, you are correct, for larger orders screen printing is the best method.

    Good video. "How long have you been screen printing?" "Been screen printing for a long time, unofficially I started 2009, we're in 2023 now..." Are you sitting down? Since 1972.

    How much per location? I’m in the $1.50-$2.00 depending on quantities and difficulties. Plus transfer and shirt.

    • @thegraffixshack
      @thegraffixshack 7 месяцев назад

      I charge based on the time it will take to complete the order + the transfer + the shirt. I think this will make a good video? What do you think? Let me try to explain it here though... based on my experience I have calculated it takes me 2 minutes per shirt per location which includes loading the shirt, pre press, lining up the transfer, pressing it, peeling it, final press and unloading the shirt. Then I multiply 2 minutes by total number of shirts and locations which gives me the total time for the order. I then multiply the time by my shop's hourly rate and divide that by total number of shirts. Let me know if that made sense. And, should I make this video? 🤔 Thank you so much for watching! 🙏👍

      That’s a great idea. You could estimate an upcoming job based on your numbers, then complete the job while keeping track of time, then doing a comparison. My guess is that most people are under pricing their jobs….

    With DTF booming, do you think it still good to start a silkscreen printing??

    • @thegraffixshack
      @thegraffixshack 8 месяцев назад

      I definitely think it still is a good idea to start a silkscreen printing business. DTF is booming right now and it definitely is a tool every screen printer should incorporate into their shop. I use it for short runs of full color images. But, DTF will never beat out screen printing as far as speed and affordability. Another factor is many people prefer the screen print feel over DTF. To sum it all up in my opinion: DTF is a great way to start an apparel printing business and as you grow I would recommend getting a screen printing press since the profit margins for screen printing are higher than DTF. Thank you for watching 👍💯🙏

    where is your conveyor dryer? If you don't get up to proper drying temp won't images wash out in the laundry?

    • @thegraffixshack
      @thegraffixshack 8 месяцев назад

      I don't have a conveyor dryer 🤯 I dry the shirts using only my flash dryer. I've never had an issue with it and never had a customer return or complain about their shirts washing out in the laundry. This would be a good video...I'll do a video showing you guys exactly how I dry my shirts using only my flash dryer. Thank you so much for watching 💯 🙏
